good luck

Hello all, We set sail today and did not receive an offer to upgrade even though I did follow the much appreciated advice of tiggertom. FYI we are first time Azamara cruisers we bid $1300pp via website to upgrade from Verandah to CC. This works out to $110pp per night. 12 night cruise in the Mediterranean. We booked through a third party with TA. And did later add the following Trans-Atlantic so that we do not have to fly back home. But I have two separate booking numbers. So I doubt that is a B2B problem that I have seen some people run into. Our first itinerary seems very popular and I think it will be a full ship. My husband had me checking email everyday to see if we got the bid. We mostly liked the idea of specialty dining and WIFI being included, which we will buy anyway. We are happy with the cabin we originally booked but I wanted to thank everone who frequents this thread for all of the tips and tricks. Special shout out to tiggertom and Grandma Cruising who have answed questions that I posted. If I forgot to include any info that is needed to update the thread, please let me know. Most of all this was the first time I have ever tried to bid for an upgrade and I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for this thread and the spreadsheet. Thank you all!

Sorry the upgrade didn't work in your favour, but all is not lost until you board. Whatever cabin you are in you will have a wonderful first cruise with Azamara. Please let us know your thoughts. 🚢

I understand the upgrade program, I have availed of it in the recent past, however, I’m not sure I understand Azamara.

For a forthcoming cruise it is listed as sold out on every site I check, yet today Azamara email me to tempt me to upgrade.

When I click the link there are two grades available to upgrade too.

So is it a case of the ship being sold out and the upgrade offer a live in hope deal?

  • 2 weeks later...

First time on Azamara and just received an upgrade offer. We are booked on P1 aft balcony for a 14 night cruise. The only upgrade we would want would be to the Club World Owners suite to keep our aft view. Our minimum bid is $2700 pp. Those cabins are currently not showing availability on the web site. We paid @$5000 pp and have loads of OBC to use up.

My questions: Why would they offer an upgrade to a category that only has 4 cabins and none are showing available?

What would be a realistic bid? (My husband is happy where we're at but part of me wonders...?)

How long does it typically take to learn if you were successful or not?

Do they send these out more than once?

We've never sailed on a cruise line where we've bid for an upgrade.

Thanks!

I have a feeling you and I have bid on the same Owners Suite. It says they are sold out but will find out soon.

A reason why we should all only reveal our bids after the sailing date?

Hi, could you please kindly remind me how we can request an upgrade? Is there always an offer from Azamara? I remember there was a way to request it even if we do not get Azamaras mail.

Ivi

You should get an email before sailing (I recently got one for a sailing just over 100 days away, and for a previous cruse got a second one much closer to the date) but you can proactively submit one from here: https://www.azamara.com/booked-guests/azamara-upgrades

I never kiss and tell 😉

When on Azamara we often comment that there’s 3 things you don’t talk about on cruise ships. Religion, politics and what you paid for your cruise. lol. Wish me luck with the politics one on our Montreal to Miami embarking October 24!

We rarely talk politics with other Americans, but love to hear from Canadians, Europeans, and others about how the rest of the world views the craziness of our politics. We've also learned interesting details about how things happen in other countries. It's always more interesting than knowing where someone's next cruise is sailing.
