That is likely the area where he was last seen onboard or at least where the currents may have taken him. A sad cruise day for all.

Wonder what caused the person to go over board.

There are only three causes that a person can go over the side of a ship. No more and no less. Only three.

1. suicide

2. murder

3. a deliberate act of skylarking/negligence/ or blatant disregard for your own safety.

There can be no other reasons why a person goes over the side of a ship. It is impossible to fall off.

Latest news is that search was discontinued, the person did it intentionally, and the sailing is now continuing.

They missed Noumea from all reports.

Just got off the Spirit, we missed Santo and Mare replaced with Lifou and Isle of Pines.

A shame that you missed your scheduled ports but some nice make ups instead. I suppose the mood on board was dampened somewhat.

The mood on board that day wasn't great, many disappointed to miss Santo, us included but we still got 5 ports and the weather was great the whole cruise, we will just have to book another cruise to Santo.

Yeah, it is no use worrying about things that are outside your control
