Caribbean Princess Ship

HeLp..haven’t cruised for 3 years ‘ would luv to kno what is Nes to cruising & what great or not so great about the Caribbean Princess? Food? Entertainment? Coffee? Can I bring liquor, water on board? Anything I might need to know would be fabulous! Thank you!

After 35+ yrs we stopped sailing with Princess in 2015, but at that time they permitted you to bring aboard 2 bottles of wine at embarkation. Any others they charged $15 per bottle.

 

The Caribbean Princess is the first of the Super Grand Class of ship. They took the excellent Grand Class ships and added an extra deck of cabins to the same hull (500 pax). We only sailed on one of them (Emerald) and found her way too crowded. Food is very subjective, but is probably best described as adequate, although our last Princess cruise it was terrible.

 

Entertainment is generally good, typical stuff offered by mainstream lines - shows in the evening by the resident singers/dancers and guest entertainers that rotate every few days. Usual game shows/pool games, etc.

 

Coffee - free coffee is available in restaurants/buffet, but any quality coffee requires extra fees.

Caribbean Princess is a nice enough ship but I prefer the Diamond, a little less crowded.

Wife love the location of the coffee bar. Sit by the window and enjoy a cappuccino. As stated, Food is adequate. Nothing spectacular. Ship itself is a very nice ship. Casino is small and crowed most of the time. Shows are typical but very nice. Bars are situated nice so as not to always be crowed. At times, coffee and tea were offered in the casino. We have two Princess line cruises booked for 2020 the NEW sky and the island. We will see how they turn out. No more on the princess ship itself. Third cruise this year is the celebrity Equinox jut rated number one big ship for 2019 June 22. I am sure it will be what we expect. Just cruised on the Celebrity Reflection, loved it and this one is its sister ship but even nicer. Enjoy your cruise.

I thought ship was way to crowded , almost impossible to get into the shows , saw fight on saving seats in showroom.

I kinda had the same feeling.  That class of Princess ships is very crowded.

We were on Caribbean Princess for 14 days in January and didn't find her "over crowded".

Really enjoyed our CB crise.

OP - We did a British Isles cruise (fabulous itinerary) in August 2013 on the Caribbean Princess.  We enjoyed the ship and especially our cabin.  The Caribbean Princess (and only two others in the Princess fleet - the Grand and the Golden) have about 10 window suites (no balconies) that are often priced like a mini-suite but are much larger and entitle you to full suite benefits.  We found the cabin perfect for a cold and/or variable weather cruise.  We didn't find it too crowded but maybe that was because there were only 2 sea days (IIRC) on a 12 day itinerary.

I was on it for a Panama Canal trip,  didn't notice it being crowded.  Nice ship.  Food was average.

We were on in January.  Nothing special or great, nothing bad or awful.   Not overly impressed with our "Suite" cabin.  Two weeks later we sailed on the MSC Divina in a  standard balcony cabin.  Cabinswas about the same size, balcony was larger  on the "D" and the two biggest differences was that the CP had a tub bath and we paid a lot more for same # of days cruise.

Agree we loved Grand princess but Caribbean and Crown had major issues with space , all these ships add extra cabins some ships can handle extra crowd like rccl others can not.

In February we will be on our 5th cruise on this ship, a 14 day to the Southern Caribbean.  And, after 22 total cruises and the experiences of different lines and ships, if there was something truly wrong with this ship we would not be doing another, especially a 14 day.  We expect that we are going to have a wonderful time, just like our past cruises on this ship, and this will we our last a Platinum cruisers as we move to Elite.

 

Please keep in mind that nothing much can upset me on a cruise.  I'm happy to be there.  I don't care who the Captain is, who the Cruise Director is, and food doesn't excite me.  Give me a chicken breast, a baked potato and beer and I'm good to go.

 

On an NCL cruise, we had a small leak in the shower and reported it.  While on a shore excursion the plumber came to fix it.  When we returned, our cabin was flooded.  Not just wet, but flooded.  The water went into adjacent cabins and the hall.  Water squished up between your toes when walking on the carpet.  It seems the plumber had forgotten to turn off the water before disassembling the pipes.  We found it hilarious and wished we could have seen the plumbers face when everything blew.

 

We liked our location so much that we declined a move and accepted the cabin, water and all.  We did not ask for compensation nor complain about the situation.  

 

Nothing even close to that has occurred on any other cruise, including the Caribbean Princess.

 

Like I said, nothing much upsets me, I simply adapt and overcome.

Hello  sailed on Caribbean Princess in Feb.  The ship has been refurbished; it has the medallion net and ocean medallion programs.  Ship was in great shape, great crew, and food was fine.  Did not experience crowds at any of the shows or dining facilities.  Have fun
