RC pre and post hotel: Stockholm and Copenhagen

any thoughts on hotels in Stockholm and copenhagen through RC? 

transportation provided from airport to hotel and to cruise ship?

curious how that works

hello, in 2017 we stayed at the Hotel Bethel on the canal. It is a smaller hotel less then 30 rooms, but close to the Canal rides & HOHO bus stops. Great italian restaurant across the street to the left of the hotel. We took a cab to the Hotel. since we had the whole hotel a lady from our roll Call got a bus for us but a cab would be fine We didn't get the Copenhagen Card but did buy the Combo HOHO & Canal.

For Stockholm the Scandic Ariadne is the best and closed to the terminal if you leave on Serenade/Jewel.

If you embark in Copenhagen they use the new terminals further out of the city (Ocean terminal in North port, not Langeliniie terminal).

We stayed at the Marriott in August 2018 for the TA. Used points.  Great location.   Also got the Copenhagen card.  Surprised that the train fare to Helsingor and admission to the castle there were included.  Great city and easy to get around.

Thank you.  We will be embarking in Copenhagen.  We visited as a port of call on a Baltics cruise a few years ago and were hoping it would be Langeliniie so this is very helpful information.

We have stayed in the Admiral hotel in Copenhagen several times

The rooms don't have air con but not a problem.If you ask for a room at the back it overlooks the waterfront between the mouth of Nyhavn canal and the royal residence Amalienborg Palace.

The hotel is ideally located for Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace,The Little Mermaid and Stroget( One of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe with a number of designer shops).

We stayed at the Scandic Palace in Copenhagen. It is by the City Hall and only two blocks from the Tivoli Park.

I can second staying at the Admiral Hotel.  It was delightful and in the middle of everything.  We used Chase Sapphire points for our two day pre-cruise stay.  Would stay there again in a heartbeat.  As far as the air con - we were there in the beginning of August and it was not an issue.

 

We also used the Copenhagen card for transportation from the airport, to Fredriksborg castle and around town including bus to the ship at Ocean Terminal.  Admission to Tivoli was included as were other tourist sites.  Well worth the cost if you are interested in what's included.  Mass transit was a breeze - one of the easiest cities ever.

For Copenhagen we stayed at the steel house,  which was a luxury hostel and loved it.  May not be for you,  but for our family of four we loved it.  It was spotlessly clean and nicer than most hotels we’ve stayed at.

The port in Copenhagen is Oceankaj.

The Admiral Hotel was just renovated and now has air conditioning.  Another small hotel in a good location is Christian IV.  It's next to Rosenborg Castle.  I don't recommend the Tivoli Hotel or Mayfair Hotel because of their location.  The Admiral, Bethel and Christian IV are more in the center of the action.

That's great news the lack of air con didn't affect us but in the middle of summer it would be a bonus.

Naah - most of the country survives just fine without. Summer in Denmark usually isn't SUMMER!!

Also: RCI usually gets the nearest berth to the bus at Oceankaj. It saves you a long walk if you use public transportation.
 

Copenhagen card is expensive, but gives access to Tivoli, public transportation and a lot of other attractions

City Pass is less expensive and gives you access to all public transportation. Paying for tickets is a mess - a kind of travel card is much easier. It can be ordered on-line here: https://dinoffentligetransport.dk/english/tickets/

We have been 3 times in August around 25-30 years ago as guests of Anthon Berg chocolate and didn't need Air Con and most recently in May 2015 when we sailed out of Copenhagen on Serenade.

Wonderful wonderful Copenhagen as the song goes is a true description as we were fortunate to see all the best sights with our hosts Anthon Berg.
