Which bar

Is there a wine bar or which bar to purchase a high end glass of wine before dinner on the Sunrise?

There are many high range wines by the bottle, not so much by the glass

I think a wine bar on the Mardi Gras would be a fantastic addition. You can get some in the steakhouse, but that is kind of a stuffy pre-dinner drink environment if you ask me. If I want to grab a drink and have a good time, you can't go wrong at Alchemy.

The Steakhouse will have the best selection, although as noted the better wines are available in bottle only - but the wines by the glass are still OK by my tastes.  You don't need to be dining there to get a glass of wine (or any other drink).

 

Casino bar usually has a good selection too.

If you want a glass of high end wine, bring your own on Carnival.  They sell pretty good wine by the bottle in the main dining room.  Definitely, can take a glass out with you and doubt if they would stop you from taking the rest of the bottle with you.  Never had the opportunity to try as the bottle was always mostly empty.

I am very curious about this- is the dining room the only place they will allow you to drink from a purchased bottle of wine? Has anyone ever had the experience of leaving with the bottle or having it sent to your stateroom or another location?

We have always taken a bottle of wine purchased in the MDR or Steakhouse back to our cabin (if any was left) --

You can drink from a purchased bottle of wine anywhere.  If you purchase it in the MDR and want to take it back to your room (or anywhere else), just take it with you.  If you want them to hold it for you for the following evening (we do this often), they will tag it with your name and room number and retrieve it for you the next evening at dinner.  We have never had a problem with this.

On the Sunshine and Liberty, IIRC, the bars are positioned such that you can order a drink as you walk by in the Promenade without getting into the actual casino.  But if you really don't like smoke, even that may be "too close".

I   purchase a bottle of good wine at the Steakhouse the first night.  One half off a  bottle.  I carry that back to the cabin.  The next night I carry the bottle to the MDR and the waiter will pour a glass for me.  I then bring that bottle back to the cabin. A bottle will last two or three sittings.

 

I also bring a bottle of good wine on board and open it in the room when I run out of the bottle I purchased at the Steakhouse.  I carry that to the MDR, and when finished with the meal, bring the bottle back to my cabin to use another day.

Just feel a little silly carrying the bottle around, especially when I stop in a bar to have a pre-meal martini.

Dream and Magic as well, couldn't even watch the sports. We found the aft bar on deck 11 had a TV and were showing the same game. He turned the volume on and we started to get a smoke free crowd.

As a non-smoker I was pleasantly surprised how mild the Sunrise casino seemed last month compared to earlier Pride cruises.  We don't spend much time in the Casino, but with the Sunrise layout you are almost forced to walk past or through it to get to your time dining.  You could smell smoke, but I've definitely been on worse ships for this.  While not forced to walk through the casino on the Pride, the smell would still spill out from it into the lobby area outside Red Frog Pub.

It was horrible on Sunrise for our 14 day Panama cruise. But it was also filled all the time. Very busy casino that cruise so maybe that added to the nastiness.

Could be.  I know our last Pride cruise I had to walk away from the overflow area, but I didn't remember it being that bad the cruise before.

 

We had mostly good weather on our Sunrise cruise so maybe more people were outside the few times I went by (and the bad days were so rough that I don't think I was near the Casino).
