The walk is along a city road but is a rather steeply inclined.  We saw many cabs heading to Tobacco Bay which would probably be an inexpensive.  

 

There is a snack stand and bar right on the edge of the bay as well as bathrooms and changing areas.

In our room the hooks are on the inside bathroom.  Many say they use to be on the outside.

The afternoon we were there it was totally quiet with no music at all.   Due to the Dicy weather there were only 2 or 3 in swimming.

No luggage valet was offered. I asked and was told they were only offering in FLL and MIA.

We are only out an hour and winds picking up. Just checked a program I used called Windy and showing we are sailing into 30-35 mph winds  

 

 

 

Wave model is showing 3-5 meter (10-15 ft).   

 

Should be rocky but not really bad.

LuAnn, I did this walk last October. It's about 1/2 mile each way from the center of town. There is a modest (to me, at least) hill to climb in the beginning as you make your way out of town and past the church. It's maybe the first 1/3 of the walk, but except for one or two very short stretches I didn't find it very steep and none of it was impossible for me to climb. I say this as someone with lifelong mobility issues that, as I've gotten older, make it hard / painful for me to walk more than 2 or 3 miles in a day, even with daily walking exercise at home, and never all at once. But I was able to do the walk to Tobacco Bay and back with no real problems; even after a day wandering around St. George's and the Crystal Caves, I only needed 2 Advil when I got back on the ship and 2 more when I went to bed.

 

Jim, did you feel differently? I gather from your other posts here and other blogs I've read that you're a pretty avid walker, so curious to hear your perspective on the walk.

We are clipping along at 21knots working our way through some heavy seas 12-15 ft waves and 25-35 mph winds.  

 

Ship it is rocking and rolling but should subside by this evening.

Retreat guest can can clear at our discretion but our official slot is at 9:10. We will be going later as we don’t have a tour until after 1:00

Love it when the Summit sails through 10-15 foot seas. You really feel you're sailing on the ocean.  Haven't been on a QM2 transatlantic for awhile - but best (or worse depending on who likes it or not) was day of cruising with up to 40 ft seas.  We filmed the waves near the forward bow down at the game table area on deck 2 and watched the waves breaking over our heads through the windows.  Unfortunately, at least a 1/4 of the passengers didn't make it to dinner that night.  Very few dancers in the ball room on dance floor, too.  Everyone was hanging on the hand rails in the halls and they put barf bags around the ship.

 

Thank you again for sharing your pictures and comments on your cruises.  We are enjoying them tremendously.  Your pictures are much better than the ones we took and giving me some good photo ideas for our next trip to Bermuda.

Would definitely recommend.   3 out of the 4 of us were non-drinkers but they put on quite the show for Iain who enjoyed a perfectly paired wine with each course.

Like you I enjoy when you can feel the seas.    From what we hear there are many passengers that are not feeling well. 

 

The seas are high but perfectly clear and sunny day.   I tried to walk early this morning on deck 11 and it was impossible with the heavy winds.   Was like a hurricane and I quickly gave up.

It's very windy here on the East Coast today.  You may be experiencing that wind out to sea which might be causing the higher than typical seas.  The wind started yesterday afternoon and cleared out the rain and humidity we were having all week.  Beautiful, clear air today with temps in the mid-70's and a very low dew point.  Hopefully that weather holds for the remainder of the week but the prediction is for heat and humidity to hit the east coast by Monday.  Hopefully you don't encounter that humidity on your port calls in Boston and Maine.  Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
