Hopefully it will reduce the mass quantities of cabins held just for the heck of it. Eh

Tells me that there are too many unsold cabins on "select cruises".

I sure hope not! But you're right, this isn't a good sign. And 3 for Free is coming next. 😬

MixerDave Posted August 17, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2019 I took advantage of this today - saved me $120 P/P for my December Star to Hawaii.
mickeygirl78 Posted August 18, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2019 I just called and refared my February cruise on the Regal and saved $120. I don’t care what they call the sale, I’ll take the savings.

Rare Tak8 Posted August 18, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 18, 2019 I agree, there should be less cabins booked with passengers who don't intend to take the cruise or are deciding between options.
neffqueen Posted August 18, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 18, 2019 this sale was very productive for us. I moved from a deluxe balcony to a mini suite for $60 difference. 🙂

Doesn’t a non-refundable deposit mean you no longer have the flexibility to rebook and refare for a better promo? Even if you do intend to take the cruise you booked? Even if you do intend to take the cruise you booked? I had previously changed my booking to take advantage of a price drop. I lost the sip and sail but saved more than the cost, and will add it later. I have fully paid for the cruise, but was still able to take advantage of 2 price decreases, totaling $200 P/P

My original was refundable, but when I took advantage of a significant price drop, it became non refundable - a risk I was willing to take. My current fare is $2420 less than the original booking, plus an addition savings of $125 on the vacation protection.

But is it true that once you have a non refundable deposit, you no longer take advantage of future price drops without losing your deposit? You do in effect "lose" your initial deposit because it becomes non refundable.
jangor Posted August 20, 2019 #19 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Foolish not to book refundable. We just booked to Norway at over $4000pp. Refundable was $20 extra pp. A no brainer!
