Best place to watch cast off on Equinox?

From the Pier. 🤗.  They might even let you help.

Seriously if your cabin faces the pier from  your balcony or anywhere on that side of the ship.  The center of the ship would be the best to seethe most.

Since we cruised so many times we just chill out at the Martini Bar.

Problem is that many times it conflicts with dinner or shortly after the muster drill.

if you have a drink pack I would advise you to get a drink and put it into your fridge to have for the sail away.   After the Muster drill stop by a bar to get  another fresh drink and use the other as a back up if needed.   If you get served on time you will now have 2 drinks.  🤗.  Can’t get any better.

The bars get really crowded during sail away.   It is like NYE everyone wants a drink in their hand when it happens.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I still love the joy, thrill, hubbub, of being amongst others who enjoy watching the ship cast off. I tend to get myself a drink and settle on the lawn.

There is a bar up there so if I run short, my drink can be refilled.

Check on your Rollcall and see if they are having a sail away party, if not head up to the lawn club (or whatever it is called nowadays) and enjoy.

Cheers, h.

We love it when we set sail at a time when dinner service is just starting in Tuscan on an S class ship. We sit by the window, peruse our menus,  sipping our first glass of wine as we watch the ropes come off and hear the ship’s horn sound....Then, as we slowly enjoy our meal, we watch the port disappear and day becomes night...

We also have enjoyed standing on the top deck with our England flag knowing family back home were watching on the webcam...We have also enjoyed leaving port on our balcony with champagne and friends from previous cruises.

The magic of setting sail never wears off...

Usually at one or two ports per cruise there will be a helipad sailaway party. These are invite only events. One is usually mainly  for suite guests so if you are cruising in a suite you will automatically get an invite. If you are not speak to the Captains Club Host day 1/2 and say how much you would like to attend a helipad sail away and they may offer you an invite.

We were on Equinox a few months ago and had a great cruise, hope you enjoy!

Our last cruise, a group of us did the Spa Veranda,  There is no bar but there is Also no crowd.  It is possible to smuggle a drink there, but you might get looks from all the exercise nuts on the treadmills.

We do sailaway on our balcony which is almost always far aft.  Same view as Tuscan Grill but higher up, so we never really scramble to get a window table there because we have that view the entire time.   Often at sailaway we're putting our clothes away and finishing the settling-in part.

We have always sailed alone (just the two of us) and it's fun to find another couple or two to share meals with or hang out with on the cruise.   It's one of those things that just happens or not.

We attended twice.   They don’t do it at the sail away form the home port.   You get a glass of bubbly. 🤗

In my opinion it is the worst place to watch it.   Nothing special except for the feeling that we are “special”.   The view is at is almost at sea level and depending on how many are there  it is difficult to get near a rail  that isn’t near the edge of the ship.   Basically you don’t see much.

Think about this, if the view is so great why is the bridge at one of the top decks?   Another is why is the view alway better at the top of the highest building or highest point?

You are escorted to the helipad area (not normally open to the public) and given a glass of fizz...

Sometimes it can be breezy, on other occasions hot but it does always feel like an occasion. Perhaps it is the ‘by invitation only’ that makes it feel special.

Guests who have done them before may not be interested but if you get the opportunity give it a go!

We often book Tuscan grill on the first night...tends to be slow... make reservation around sunset... try for table by the window and watch Florida disappear as the sun sets... great way to start a cruise.

I am not a sun person, so I like to watch the ship leave a port from the Sky lounge.... have a pretty good view of some of the lines being dropped... and if it lines up with the captains cocktail hour... watch lines being dropped while sipping a cocktail. Sunset bar is also a good spot... but I hate being in the sun... so I tend to go forward to the sky lounge.
