Oasis back at port today??

Recommended Posts

No alcohol sales and the casino will be closed.  But you know for Royal to do this for a short week, Royal is making more money than running the ship for a normal 7 day sailing.  That’s a lot of chicken sandwiches!!!

Chick-Fil-A is a very socially conservative company.  I imagine that alcohol doesn't align with their moral values.

I can't imagine how much it cost them to take Oasis out of service for a week. No casino, no liquor sales. Must have cost a fortune. Chick-Fil-A is not that big here in Canada, must be a big company in the US.

This is true. Charters are required to produce x amount of alcohol and casino revenue. They paid for it one way or the other.

I just got of the oasis on Sunday. The crew was super excited about the charter as they were getting a bit of downtime.

I disagree.  Just because you're socially conservative or religious doesn't mean you don't drink alcohol.

5 years ago we were told it was 10 million US for the short sailing on Allure. There was a 3 day sailing after their charter.

For sure.

I would tend to say the Corporate Founders have the values.  It’s not to say that the individual franchise owners share them to the same levels. On a side note, I know some Mennonites and Hutterites that drink like fish, even though religion is important to them.

That depends on the terms and conditions of the individual contract. Surely they will pay one way or the other... But there are many kinds of charters. If they have agreed on a full charter, then they became the "owners" of the ship for that time with both all the wonderful things that go along... And with all the responsibilities that go alongside also!... Insurance came at mind to me in the first place, but it is not the unique one.

To have a full ship fully booked from a totally full charter is the best of 2 worlds for any cruise line. They ensure maximum profit with barely no risk at all and they cut several costs in the mean time!... So, they have no problems on doing it here and there!...

Have a nice day!... 🙂

According to our waiter in Giovanni's last week on the Oasis, Chic-Fil-A is chartering both the Oasis and Symphony this week.  That’s some major bucks.

The two ships will also have a meet up at Coco Cay later this week.  Can’t even imagine how busy or fun that will be, especially if the temperatures stay on the cooler side for south Florida.

Currently Oasis is docked in Port Everglades, after it left Miami yesterday, and Symphony is docked in Miami.  Symphony left Miami on Saturday, and sailed for a day with no passengers, and returned to Miami this morning.

Of course...  Royal expects a certain amount of revenue from the charter. If they are not selling alcohol or opening the casino, then the charter will make up the difference, as per the T’s&C’s.

I have read that as well, but didn’t have any intel really confirming it until you mentioned it. Lots of money for sure.

I was on the Oasis last week and at the captains corner chat he said that the casino and liquor are the top 2 revenue generators and they both generate roughly the same amount.

Accurate info ie: Oasis + Symphony meeting up in Coco Cay----staff not allowed off either ship  due to 2 large ships in Coco Cay at one time. Regular cruise cycle re-starts for Oasis on Sunday 2-9 out of Miami. Quite the different charters within a few weeks of each other ie: "Atlantis" charter vs Chick Fila/no alcohol/dress code, etc.

BTW, charter estimate for Oasis class $7 Mil to $11 Mil is accurate pending time of year charter takes place ie: high season vs lower season, details of renters needs, itinerary, etc. RCCL actually has a website section dedicated to Charters with info enclosed if you are interested.

I saw Symphony of the Seas docked in Miami last night & it is still there.  Are you saying it is leaving at 1:00 am for a 5 day cruise?  That seems an odd time to leave & it was an odd time to arrive in port.  I was confused seeing it there at those times.

i was booked on Allure Jan 17th of 2021 and found out 2 weeks ago it was cancelled bc it was being chartered that week. That's wild the amount of money companies spend to charter then, i might have to toss the idea around my job with upper management 😄

We have Advent Health here. They have perks from time to time for their staff and consultants. They have a huge Suite at DIS (Speedway), Amway Arena,  Camping World Stadium, and Exploria Stadium near here. I am sure they have more. The Suites have no alcohol or pork.

AND they just bought 100 acres of land on ST 44 here in NSB

Chick-fil-A is a privately held company. At the time of Truett Cathy's death in 2014 Bloomberg valued the company at an estimated $5.5B. Mr. Cathy had a net worth of $1.9B. Dan Cathy, the son, is now CEO. 2018 company estimated worth was $10.5B. Forbes has Dan Cathy's net worth at $5.4B.

Crazy. Great reason to charter the ships. 🤷‍♂️

If that is the case, I would say that makes up for the Casino/ Alcohol.

The Cathy family are really nice people who do care for their employees... sure I do not agree with some of their stances, but they generally are very nice.  Then again, I am from Atlanta, and there are 3 things that we will defend until the end... Chick-Fil-A, Coke, and Waffle House.
