We will be contacting booked guests with a cruise departing from 1 September onwards shortly The quote is near the bottom of the Email. That’s because the email has so far only been sent out to guests with cruises booked to depart prior to 31 Aug. It doesn’t negate the statement I referred to. We are pleased to be able to offer you some on-board spending money to enhance your holiday; this will be credited to your on-board account and can be used for drinks, spa treatments, room service and shore experiences booked on board. So I would question for example shops , dixons travel What do you think? I think this is P&O just itemising some of the things you can use the OBC for. As already stated, you've always been able to use your OBC in the shops as well. The only restriction I can think of is the Casino (if the ship has one) where you can't use OBC. We already have £300 OBC on our August cruise on Aurora which we earned at booking so presumably that would not be restricted. I can't see how P&O could differentiate between existing OBC and any additional OBC as a result of the new cancellation T&C's. My TA is checking the situation but feels there will be no restrictions on spending this extra OBC

By doing this I think that they are protecting future booking, which will help them survive the current crises. Given how they are now dealing with the situation people will feel grateful for their consideration and feel safe to book (or to retain bookings) to see if the situation improves. Had they left things as they were then many people would have cancelled to get whatever % refund they could (some may have done so already). If that meant losing thousands of pounds then the chances of them booking P&O again would probably have been slim. I think this policy change is good for customers and good for P&O in the longer term, win win. I agree. I have just cancelled my early April cruise on Ventura and will receive a 25% refund plus a 75% FCC. The latter means that I will not lose anything provided that I book a new cruise with P&O before the end of 2021. This will obviously influence my decision on whether to book such a cruise with P&O or with another company. A win-win situation. However they do say that cruises after that date will be dealt with later and new information will be posted. I suspect that P&O have consulted with medical advisers who believe that covid-19 will have peaked well before that date and that by then things will be pretty much back to normal. Lets all hope that they are right.

jaydee6969 Posted March 11, 2020 #1485 Share Posted March 11, 2020 I will wait until the rush has cleared on the phone lines for those travelling immanently, but I have a query to raise with P&O. However someone may have already had a discussion with them and know the answer. I have a B2B booked as two separate cruises in April as well as a cruise in June. If I cancel all three, do I receive one FCC or three separate ones? The April ones are fully paid, but June is deposit only at present.

Brian Yes, I understand that. I was just stating the fact that if the OBC couldn't be used in the shops I wouldn't have much use for it as we always book excursions months in advance, due to popular ones selling out. From comments on here though it's looking like the OBC can be used in shops, even though there's no mention in the email from P&O.

It won't make any difference either way as you don't have to spend it all in one go - it can be spread across multiple future bookings. It can't be used against existing bookings though. You also have the option of transferring your holiday to an alternative date should you wish, and you can do this up to 48 hours before departure. Under our temporary highly flexible terms, you can choose to transfer your holiday to any sailing within our published programme. Any holiday, any price, anywhere! I have two holidays (Back to Back) booked for May 2021 and have paid a deposit of £50 for each. Does the above mean that I can transfer this year’s money I have paid to next year’s booking? No this only applies to cruises dueto commence before the end of Aug 2020.

I think my immune system isn’t brilliant but we are still waiting till we go to see what happens. as we are going in school holidays there is no other cruise in the next two years that I would take. I want the canaries and I need school holidays. If I go in summer holidays it’s twice as much and I don’t wanna pay that amount for a cruise. If we really had to move it we would but for now we are going ahead and planning as normal for Easter. P&o have at least tried to offer things to make us feel better. Full refund would have been the best thing but that would lose too much money that I assume they can’t do. least we have more options than we did which is good and we have a sweetener I think in your shoes we would still go on holiday, if the worst happens and someone else goes down with the dreaded CV you have to decide if you can cope with whatever quarantine arrangements they impose. But you would probably receive a full refund and some sort of FCC as well, and you still get a bit of a holiday. For us though at our age and with my wifes disability, we feel the risk is too high so we intend to cancel. If you do go I hope you have a great time and no issues, I will be following your progress. kevcharben Posted March 11, 2020 #1492 Share Posted March 11, 2020 Very happy with this new policy. Never had any intentions of cancelling our cruise in May, now we are £600 better off on my 16 night cruise.😎😪 Of course subject to things changing drastically and cruising being cancelled. Lets hope not.

On that basis I would say yes, if you bought something from Dixons it would use up any obc that you have credited to your onboard account. Not a bad idea to update or upgrade your gadgets using the obc, the iPad we bought worked out far cheaper than buying it at home.
