I am sat on the patio now in the shade having lunch. Dogs are not happy, way too warm for them. No walkies until later tonight Have a nice day everyone Michelle We just got back from lunch and our car was showing 25° even though it had been parked in the shade under the trees. It is now sitting in the garage so that it won't be too hot when I go out later. Does everyone remember the days of having to have the windows open to let a bit of air into the car but it never seemed to cool it down. 4

I do remember my first car taught me how to swear fluently ! When I went to open the door it would greet me with a static shock and who could forget those plastic seats on a hot summers day ? Trying to wind the window down gasping for air and then just to make your day, you gripped the steering wheel with both hands (like the door knob scene in home alone ) Happy motoring 😏 2

Caullkhead Posted June 15, 2023 #46836 Share Posted June 15, 2023 Good point Harry. changing the subject I’ve baked the carrot cake & scotch eggs & as the kitchen was already a mess & to fill up the oven I wiped up a tray of heavy cake. The kitchen is now clean again after a ton of washing up ( no dishwasher, he’s at work!)

Just for fun, what was your first car and can you remember where you first took it on a decent run out ? My car was a C reg Ford Anglia (snotty green ) bought out of the local rags £30 and under section . Taxed and tested ,sold as seen . I put 2 gallon of petrol in her and a pint of oil as the seller told me she's burning a bit of oil. No more to do I followed the A630 into Doncaster and thought what the hell and headed along the A18 M18 had not been invented ,not stopping until I reached Cleethorpes . The oil light was flickering so found a garage and bought more oil /fuel and made my way back home and was so glad to get home as the oil light was on again and I stunk of burnt oil but I was skint for that week but happy .🙂
Peanut006 Posted June 15, 2023 #46838 Share Posted June 15, 2023 My first car was a red mini with a black roof, it had a tiny sports steering wheel and I bought sheepskin(fake) seat covers as it had plastic seats. When I was learning to drive with my mum and dad I drove from Bradford to South Kirby in it to visit relatives. Reg was PWX 914K. I have a photo of it somewhere. terrierjohn Posted June 15, 2023 #46841 Share Posted June 15, 2023 My first car was a 1959 Morris 1000, bought in 1964, but already the rear carpet had to have papers underneath it, to protect it from the rusty pinholes in the underfloor.

Michelle My first company car was a 1971 Ford escort. We had a company fuel pump, but we're asked to fill up during the 3 day week when we were out and about to save stocks and get the money back from accounts. I had a new boss who was a bit thick. Can you sign this petty cash form please...OK but what's a hoysick. Sorry don't know, I'll find out, but if you could just sign the form...you must know, you just purchased petrol for one.......That's my registration....petrol for HOY151K.🤣 2

Josy1953 Posted June 15, 2023 #46850 Share Posted June 15, 2023 I should have been bowling this evening but it has been called of because the other team can't get enough players because some of them think that it is too hot. It now has to be rearranged but as we are in the holiday period it will be difficult to rearrange. Several of our team, including me, have 2 or 3 holidays booked that we agreed amongst ourselves back in January so that we would have enough players available every week. Personally I am not willing to play on another evening because I already play 3 days a week, so I have said that I won't be available for a rearranged game.
