We will go around the shops a bit nearer the time. In years to come we can chat to the Grandkids.  You won't remember shops kids. Big places full of colourful displays and tempting treats. A bit like the big government distribution centre, but you could go inside and look at things........Did they still deliver Grandad ?. Some did, but you could take stuff home in your car.....what's a car Grandad?.🤫

Also .. Grandad is it true Father Amazon lives at the north pole ?

Yeah he was known as Santa but he was addicted to a coke or two, but when we were young we had Father Christmas and he would wear holly around his head .

Grandad is it also true that you used to drag a live Fir tree into your house, if so why ?

Well er .. so the fairy had somewhere to sit .

What happened after Christmas to the tree ?

We would chuck it out into the back yard where it would lay for months, as no one would have it ,the bin men didn't want to know .

Did you drag it back in for Easter Grand dad  ??

Who on earth would drag a live tree into their house ? Anyway forget that, tell me what you want for Christmas? Is it the blue or red protein pill this year ??

Even worst than the whining kid.  I reeeely want to make a space ship out if that washing up liquid bottle. It's lasting a reeeely long time.

We never have that problem, we record everything we want to watch, and then can whizz through the adverts when we settle down to view them. We only watch sport and the news live.

I love seeing your mouthwatering breakfast butties Graham.😋...........

I then sit down for my weetabix with blueberries. tasty and healthy, but not quite in the same league is it?

Thank you Avril.

I had my breakfast porridge at 6am with Pauline.

After dropping Pauline off at her office I had 2 hours to spare before my Flu vaccine jab so a nice bacon bap and a coffee overlooking the sea made the wait pleasant 😃

Having slight mobility problems, home deliveries are a boon for a once a week shop.  And getting a head start on the pre-Christmas slots is also a boon!  My delivery people bring the baskets into the kitchen, and we usually unload them together.  Usually a little chat.  They say they don't get such a heavy workload that they can't be helpful and sociable (unlike the poor people from Evri etc.).

I agree it is ridiculously early, but I suspect the slots will all be gone by the end of the week!

A coastal walk sounds lovely. Make the most of the good weather and enjoy.

It's because the teams of sociologists who "guide" the supermarkets strategy seem to believe that many people will try to spread the spend and stock up with goodies as soon as the kids are back to school this year.... and the like-for-like spend compared with last year will be down as a result of interest rate rises.

Cakes and puddings were on sale in Morrisons a week ago all our local supermarkets already have seasonal mince pies and such-like on the shelves. We use Ocado and the contract is for free delivery except for C... this year we're being given the C slot for free. Intense jockeying to retain market share... much more of that to come.

Our spare freezer and stock cupboards and wine racks are already full... because we know that there will be less and less savings, no real offers and no big discounts before we're all singing "We wish you all..."

The main thing as far as we're concerned is to avoid anything that smacks of an attempt to encourage panic buying of food that's nice the price that it should be because the packaging had a robin, a few holly terrier or a sprig of mistletoe on the front!

We plan to enjoy the run-up to the festive season... when it comes in about three months time!.

We haven't watched TV for many months now, there's nothing of interest to us. We found the adverts were better than the programmes.  We watch films and documentaries on Prime or YouTube now instead. I liked the Lidl adverts, the best being the old lady advertising tea😁 but the best of all for me were Sergei and Alexsander the meerkats.

I have weekly deliveries too and pay a  yearly delivery charge, much cheaper. The delivery drivers are so helpful, bring the baskets in and put them on the table. I always thank them very much for their help. If it wasn't for home deliveries I dread to think what we would do.

That would be Christmas itself knowing the shops were shut on Boxing day .

We would be sent to the local corner shop to put our order in for six Mothers Pride loaves

and ask for 1/4lb of cheese . Any other time we were lucky if we had 1oz  in the house .

As for the bread I think most ended up in the sparrows bellies.

You asked why all the bread ?   .. Well you never know who will call by.

Yes I do, same as how many we used to visit .

That was a different era of panic buying back then .

I'm impressed that you still have blueberries Avril.  None in Tesco (delivery or in store) or M&S in my bit of Lancashire.  Anyone else having problems getting them?

I know Sainsbury's do a yearly charge, my son uses them.  Waitrose didn't charge at all until fairly recently, and you get money off a couple of things you buy frequently (choose from 8) and that usually pays for the £3 delivery.

Off shopping soon. Shall we get Celebrations, quality st, or roses?. Probably best to get a couple of each in case the price goes up at Christmas.

Ps Predictive thinks we stock up for Crust mat.

We buy some chocolate in case the kids knock on Halloween.  Moving the car off of the drive and turning the lights off normally works a treat (pun intended).🤣

When In town we always visit the M&S food Hall. We don't buy anything, just nice to see what the rich folk will be having Christmas day. Reindeer, venison, lobster mac and cheese. Blue berries and chocolate.🤣

I do agree but at the moment, daytime TV seems to exist on ads for Staysure that are so awful, they make me want to throw something through the TV. Oh, and a slightly misheard one where a cartoon lady tells us that she doesn’t want a funeral ‘because no one likes me’.

Sorry, I meant Verisure alarms, not Staysure

I use Morrison's. I used to use Asda, but they have gone down a lot imo, and a lot of stuff is out of stock all the time. Nice helpful delivery drivers though.

Morrison's have always had them, so far that is🤞. I buy 6 x 150g punnets every week and they keep well in the 'fridge. We've 2 bushes in the garden too.

I tried Morrisons, but sadly got a miserable young man who didn't want to help in any way, and quite a few things were not available.  I should probably have given them another chance, though.  I think they are excellent in some departments, like interesting breads.
