You may well be correct in your reading of that provision, but it certainly seems to negate a major concern for the need of insurance. "Buy this insurance but the cruise company can decide not to to sail . . . so sorry, you're out of luck." Doesn't make sense, but I am not a major fan of insurance companies. This is why I decided to self insure my trips. That way I only have to argue with myself...….

There was a difference on the paper statement and the navigator statement for taxes, fees & port expenses adjustment that amounted to $321.06 difference in credit amount. (the paper version was less) Does anyone know which credit amount is correct? $995.18 or $674.12? The paper statement reported the last 4 digits of the credit card on file. Be aware that they had a data breach last year so maybe that caused some data problems? I was credited $674.12 for Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses. Nothing has shown up on my credit card, either. Fredspak Posted March 30, 2020 #205 Share Posted March 30, 2020 It's not unusual for credits to take a week or more after the cruise to show up on your account.

Fairly typical for processing times. Most refunds I’ve been dealing with currently, e.g. Expedia, etc. (for flights and last minute accommodation changes) are posting 30 day (perhaps less) notifications back to your cards due to the overwhelming volume & required processing. I would expect the volume of cancellations, refund processing and final statement accounting is also ‘overwhelming’ the Seattle HAL accounting folks. Give it some time. It all ‘be good’ Be well & positive. Bob

Captain Ricky Posted March 31, 2020 #211 Share Posted March 31, 2020 This is an interesting listen. It explains the reluctance of the Australians had in letting us off the ship except directly to an airplane. I wrote a brief synopsis of this in my blog when I was in Perth but this gives a much fuller story. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/audio/2020/mar/30/how-the-ruby-princess-cruise-ship-debacle-spread-coronavirus-across-australia?fbclid=IwAR3DwuHMouYK3_VCtwNWZ8_FenHUhwY05f0hZLpQYnj-e7w3N7Yg9IDMYTA
Snoop Sister Posted March 31, 2020 #212 Share Posted March 31, 2020 With regard to the $1250 reimbursement by HAL for flights.... I have a form “Change Fee Reimbursement Form” one form per stateroom... Is this the correct form? It would be very difficult (impossible) to have one form for the two of us... Any suggestions? KirkNC Posted March 31, 2020 #213 Share Posted March 31, 2020 It’s for each booking so if there were two guests on the same booking there would be one form. You can always have multiple pages.

If you read my responses on this thread you will see why the WA Premier wanted to protect his local population but was over ruled by PM.. I thought that was a common sense decision by PM at the time, however I have since learnt both Townsville and Cairns had people with the virus. Recently Premier had the debacle of three unexpected ships arriving. Now it is a whole new world - all State borders closed - anyone entitled to arrive has to go in to Govt. arranged quarantine - WA people to Rottnest Island, People from Eastern States all to hotels, overseas from ship to airport to home! Most of the people in his state with the virus came from cruise ships or overseas (US most recent, inc returning Aussies).
Rare Scrapnana Posted March 31, 2020 #215 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Did anyone get a charge of $1.00 labeled “Amsterdam” on their credit card used with HAL. I think it might be a fraudulent charge because I expect it would say “Holland America “ not the name of the ship. Watch your card.

Thanks for being a Good Samaritan! Goes to show you the value of rumors: not much. I suspect, the young violinist accompanied her to the Perth Airport or just walked out with her to the bus. We know of several other Good Samaritans! Glad to know that we traveled with such caring passengers. Couldn’t help anyone on our last leg as we were almost the only Americans onboard since we flew to Tokyo and then LAX.

Did the charge have a date and posted or pending. It is very common to put in a pending authorization request to be sure the card is still valid. I was told by a friend that the scammers do that first to see if cc is working. Then they put through a real purchase. That is what happened to her, in Australia, however she knew it in advance as spending details come through on her phone. Contact your bank. Captain Ricky Posted March 31, 2020 #222 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Is anyone else having trouble getting on the website HAL gave us to choose our compensation option? I have been trying for two days on four different computers and 4 different browsers. On my computer I have gotten a message that the site was taking too long to respond. My iPhone refuses to connect me because the site is not a "trusted" site and it is trying to protectme from a scam. Anyone else had problems with this site. I realize it could be because my internet here in Alaska is not very robust. I called the World Cruise Desk and they told me I can't do this on the phone. I am also trying to get my TA involved. Thanks, Rich McClear

Captain Ricky Posted March 31, 2020 #224 Share Posted March 31, 2020 Hi again, When I tried to poen the pictures from the ship that I bought from the photography department the files were corrupted and woiuld not open, I tried several different programs with, essentially the same message. I called HAL and they referred me to their photo company. I called and they told me they would call back, which is better than waiting on hold. Anyone else have this problem? I am wondering if it was a system problem or something on my drive was corrupted. Thanks, Rich McClear
