Future Cruise Credit

I’m still waiting to hear what’s to become of my remaining FCC. I was told otherwise. The difference in fare is more that the $600 OBC that was offered. I’ll be losing out on $700+ unless I want to upgrade to a suite and pay $2k more to take advantage of my full FCC.

I was told by my PVP that if you book a cheaper cruise with the FCC, the excess would be put on your cabin as OBC with a max of $500.

Now if that is up to $500 on top of the $600 OBC we should already have from the canceled cruise, I don’t know.

it should be, otherwise they are not really giving you OBC from your FCC.

My PVP just called me. Yes it’s a max of $500 OBC on top of the $600 OBC. I still lose out on several hundreds but the $600 OBC will make up for it. I’m just hoping they remember all this when we sail. I don’t have anything in writing. I just don’t want to be onboard arguing about the total amount of OBC I’m supposed to have.

I am booked on the New York to London transatlantic June 3. I’m almost done feeling sorry for myself because this amazing 24 day journey is not going to happen. Here is my question:

My total cruise cost is significantly higher than if I rebook for virtually any 7-nighter.

1. Can I use the balance to cover a second stateroom for my kids so I’m not out of pocket? OR

2. Will the balance be refunded to me? OR

3. Can I save it for another cruise for just the two of us? OR

4. Will I just lose the balance?

i know everything is subject to change, but has any April cancellations included these options? TIA

Please post back with what you find out - I'm very curious

I thought the same thing if I booked a room that was cheaper, the balance of the FCC would be applied in FCC.  However, when I called on Monday and moved my cruise to September, I was told the difference in room cost, $90.00 in this case would be refunded to me.  I don't know if this is because the FCC was never actually processed since I moved the cruise the day they announced the cancellations.

I am not sure what the real answer is, since we all seem to be getting different information from different carnival reps.  I don't see anything on my new booking saying I have any obc.  However, the email confirmation said I had $600 on board credit.

All I can do at this point is wait and see if the refund shows up.

I sent in the on line form to receive the FCC and on board credit the same day Carnival notified us of our cancelled cruise that was supposed to be April 5th.  Several weeks have gone by and my cruise manager is still saying that we were cruising!  I called Carnival today, no wait time, and was told that we had not cancelled!  She said no one should trust the on line forms.  So anyway, the planner cancelled our cruise and right away wanted to know which new cruise we would like to book?  Ummmm, I said I have no idea as we really don't know when Carnival will be cruising again.  She said I would receive an email from Carnival right away confirming the cancellation.  I haven't received it yet.  Sure hoping when we do decide on another cruise the funds will be there.  I really have no way of knowing, just as I had no way of knowing if they had received the online form.😕

I made a couple of calls and surprisingly I was able to talk with someone within 10-15 minutes.  That said, they were not able to answer all of my questions.  I do understand that most of their operators are working from home, so I think things will improve when we get out of this lockdown.

Can someone help me understand this?

I called this evening and got through fairly quickly. The woman that helped me was very helpful and got pretty much everything done as far as moving my FCC from my old booking over to my new one in October, and gave me a reference number for either the FCC or the OBC.. I was a little confused as she was going through all the numbers with me and coming up with oddball amounts that didn't seem to match anything.

My Original booking for May 9th was a total of $2357.14.

My NEW booking for October 3rd is a total of $1817.14.

I paid a $250 deposit on my new booking before I called.

The agent said there is normally a $964 penalty for canceling, but they are of course  waiving that. She filled out the form on her end and moved my FCC from my old booking to my new booking and applied my $600 OBC, which I think she said might take 7 days to show up.

She said for the difference in amount, a refund of $790 would be refunded back to my credit card within 90 days. ($540 for the price difference in booking + $250 deposit = $790, so that part checks out.)

But now it says on my new booking that my final payment amount to be billed in July is $964. I wonder if that will drop off in a few days, or if it was a mistake, or what the deal is with that? I'm a little concerned.

SO QUESTION. If I cancel my 9/12 cruise right now, I have $800 FCC tied up in that cruise.....WILL I GET IT BACK as cash refund for total cancellation???? I realize I lose $190 deposit.

If I’m not mistaken it all depends on whether or not you booked a promotional rate and the terms of that promo. The only rate that will give you a refund is the fully refundable rate or if you purchased the vacation protection. The other rates will either charge you a fee, forfeit your deposit and reimburse the remaining funds applied as FCC.

I have opted to take the 100% FCC with added OBC for my cancelled Norway cruise. How will I see when this FCC is available to use.  I do not see any place they would show this when I log on to my account on the carnival site.  Will they just notify by email?

Related, we took the 100% refund instead of the $600 FCC when Carnival canceled our Radiance sailing out of Barcelona.  It was a nightmare getting transferred around, regular line, hold for the casino for over an hour, then told they can't help.  Finally someone said they could help and promised a full refund to the credit card we used to purchase the cruise in "3 to 4 business days", but then I got an email from Carnival saying 7 to 10 business days with a cancellation penalty.  I have tried to call and emailed four times - no reply - it has now been 16 days and no refund!

What makes my situation a bit different is that my original cruise was book through a third party agent. The Carnival agent could not see my booking and therefore could not see the amount of the cruise and could not transfer to a new booking.  I am not planning on going through the third party agent for my next cruise.  I am hoping to be notified when the FCC is processed so that I can book my next adventure.    Just not sure how that notification will come.  Thanks for any info.

I did FCC + OBC two days ago when our TA out of Barcelona was cancelled.  My PVP told me I would not get any kind of email but that my choice would be linked to our cancelled cruise and available when I wanted to rebook.

I also took the FCC and OBC for my cancelled May 10 cruise. I just booked the same cruise next year with a PVP. I will get my excursions, prepaid liquor, and part of last cruise refunded to me. She applied the FCC to my new booking right then. Don't know when I will see the refund, but when I use it for the new cruise I will be at 100%. I see the applied FCC on my new booking but not the OBC at this time. The PVP was great.

As far as I know you will never actually see it.  In effect it will be the amount you paid on your cruise rate, excluding port taxes and fees, pre-paid grats, vacation protection, etc.

It is sitting in cyber space waiting to be used.

If you can get someone at Carnival on the phone he/she will be able to tell you the amount of your FCC and the amount of your other payments that will be applied to your new cruise when you book it.

According to the fine print at the bottom of the offer, the FCC can only be used for ONE booking.  We, too, have a significantly higher balance than any other cruise we are considering.  Cancelling a European cruise with air (Fly2Fun) gives us FCC of close to $5000!  I guess we'll look at expensive rooms and Journey cruises...but it would've been nice to book a second room for family OR take two cruises.

Is your Transatlantic cruise on the Carnival Legend this year??   If so, it's been  cancelled!

This is my issue as well.  I chose the FCC and OBC, switched to the new cruise.  The FCC was applied, but I don't see the $600 OBC anywhere.  They just said I'd see it "onboard".  But it seems like a lot of you can see your OBC?

Forgive me if it's been addressed already. I didn't see a direct answer to my question. I have a sinking feeling that my July cruise will be canceled as it leaves from NYC. I hope that they just move the ship to Norfolk or Baltimore and implement some  sort of social distancing measures on the ship, but who knows. I also saw a CCL exec on CNBC saying that they are looking into requiring a COVID-19 test prior to embarkation. That could be very good but I don't know how that would work.

I saw that if they cancel a sailing, they offer some OBC and a FCC. My question is how does the FCC work? Do you have to book a cruise thats the same length/cost as the one they cancelled, or can you just pick any future cruise and it's fully paid for?

You can simply get a refund of money paid.

If you choose the FCC and OBC, you do not need to book another cruise right now.  You will need to book another cruise with the same people on the cancelled booking.  PVPs (as of now) can use up to $500 of your FCC as OBC if your cruise fare is than much less.  More than a $500 difference would be forfeited unless you upgraded your cabin.  My PVP said unless I know when I want to rebook, I can wait and do nothing now.
