I left work around 530 tonight with about 6 inches of snow on the ground.    Probably have about 8 or 9 inches now but having a break before it starts back up and continues thru the night.

We got 10 inches in Atlanta about 2 years ago.  We considered moving the entire city 100 miles south. Then it all melted the next day and we forgot about it.

we just did something brave and reserved a rental car for our trip to Tulum...it’s actually going to be cheaper than if we did transfer service and taxis...and will give us freedom. fingers crossed 🤞

It's a very long drive with a lot of nothing between the port and Tulum. Make sure you have detailed directions.

This was our first Mayan site. Loved it! You can use a camera phone for pics and video, and camera for pics and video. But no professional video cameras. I'm guessing no drones but really don't know. Rules should be on their website.

Now that I've read everyone's bathroom routines, all I can think is.....

Snow looks lovely when you can stop at home and look out of the window.

Not so when you have to go out and drive in it.

Tomorrow is my 75th birthday.  Normally, we would make a pretty big deal about it, even though it's 8 days before Christmas.  We might have taken a Mexican Riviera cruise out of San Diego, where we live.  We might have even taken a flying land visit to Paris for 3 or 4 nights.  We might have gone to Las Vegas for a couple of nights, stayed at a big hotel, had a nice dinner, and taken in a show.  We might have done the above at a local Indian casino.  We might have at least gone out to a local restaurant for a nice dinner.  But, no........

Pat

Happy Birthday

I have often thought and even looked at these showers thinking I would do this too as it would be so much easier to shave your legs then in the cabin shower but I just never felt like bring everything I needed.   I guess I'm just too lazy when cruising - LOL!

So we have worked out a system that DH needs to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine on the balcony while I shower and get dressed.    Then when I do my hair and makeup with a glass of wine at the desk he can use the shower.    Just like Domino D does.

Exactly what we do.  🙂

I would have felt the same way.  Hope your kitties weren't traumatized too long.

We had to find a hotel that would take animals (for a fee of course) found one that had full kitchen.  Had to stay while we got with repair facility, insurance, box everything up, etc.  They were nervous but enjoyed checking out the suite.

Then having to pack them in their cat carriers for the ride in the Jeep towing the U-Haul 1300 miles.  Had to also find a couple of pet friendly hotels on the way south. Ugh...poor kitties.  They were ever so happy to get home.

When we first got ours we drove up to Mendocino CA along the coast. Mike drove up and I drove back. Imagine going south on US 1 where at times it seems like there is only a couple of feet between the road and the drop off of the cliff. As Mike said he was white knucking it while I was driving. It was also my first time driving it. 🤣  We then ended up going thru San Francisco in the middle of rush hour. Ugh!

We managed to do the Blue Ridge Parkway with the big bus (the part to the north that does not have low bridges)...definitely some areas that are a bit of a nail biter there.  😮

Try renting one for a weekend or so. I would rent a class A and not a class C rv. Just my opinion.

That's exactly what Mike does for me. He gets up early, goes to the gym and then brings coffee and a muffin for me. Goes out on the balcony having his coffee until I wake up.

Funny how some of us are just natural morning people.  😉

Only problem with renting an RV...is you don't have the "creature features" that we take along.  No "toad" (nickname for towed vehicle), no lawn chairs, no bbq grill, lawn mat, etc.  They are quite sparse.

We jumped right in and bought the first A class, without even driving it.  Was an "instant education" in handling one.  😮  Read up on a lot of tips in Motor Home magazine that helped a lot afterwards.

Had a lovely day out at Bournemouth, walking along the beach and lunch in an open air terrace overlooking the sea. Two ships anchored in the bay, Jewel and Anthem. Great to see them, I guess as they are both in Europe next summer season they will stay here for the winter..

On the negative we heard we are moving into tier three from Saturday (from tier 2). Restaurants and pubs to close. Cannot even meet up outside now in pub gardens or private gardens, only parks or outside spaces. We've had to cancel two of our outside Christmas get togethers with family 😕

Still hope to meet my eldest son and partner for a walk on Boxing Day

Thank you for all the well wishes for my birthday, I did not mean to turn the thread that way, but thank you so much for the kind wishes.

Speaking of flowers.

When I went to Anesthesia school I broke off with my husband to be, the dating scene and studying was overwhelming and one had to give.

So I broke off with Rick in October of 1988.

Well, every Friday I got a dozen roses sent to my house.

I mean every Friday for three months were sent.  They were always delivered with a card that simply said, thinking of you.

In the fourth month the Roses changed to carnations and the only thing my dad said was.....

I think it is time to realize this man loves you and he is running out of money, you better *hit or get off the pot,

We  got back together, got married after I graduated as a Nurse Anesthetist, and next year we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary.

Stay healthy

Nice.  The romantic in my approves.

Yeah, I try to hide my stress from Bucky...who is an aggressive driver anyway.  He does all the driving, since he is crap at navigation , and has no patience for it.

So that is my job..  I make sure he is in the correct lane ahead of time for an exit, and Google Earth map out gas stations, to be sure we have enough turn around area.

We were close to selling it, assuming this last year, our cruising was "supposed" to ramp up for longer trips, so much for that.  Will think about selling it next year, but until then...we are keeping the travels locally in state now.

We enjoy the "staying" part in the parks...not the traveling part.  Love taking the land yacht to the Florida Keys, but mostly our favorite...the pretty beaches (state parks) of the Florida Panhandle.  Have a 2-3 month tour coming up this Fall there.  🙂

Remember to send me an email sometime with your favorite places to stay for more than a day or two.  Pretty please.

Sounded like a lovely day in Bournemouth Sue.

We have been in Tier 3 since lockdown in Durham so all restaurants and bars are closed.

It doesn't make sense that our PM thinks it's okay that for 5 days over Christmas you can have a jolly with 3 other households with potentially over 20 people indoors at your home.

Our Covid19 cases will spiral out of control early January.

Happy Christmas everyone.

Graham.

I hate driving thru SF in a car.
