A momentary break from snow and bad weather --

Starting today, we can make an appointment to be vaccinated (over 60 years age). The medical teams and 1st responders have already begun.

@DaniDanielle & @Sunshine3601

JFIY -- Organ transplant recipients will be next after us.

For the moment, we only got Pfizer''s, but a huge amount of Moderna's are just waiting FDA's approval to make their way here.

That's great news. Finally people are getting the vaccines. 🎉 🥂

When we first moved to KW (our first day arriving) we took a wrong turn and ended up on Duval Street. We were in the rv towing my car. That really sucked! Those streets definitely weren't made to be driving an rv down. I wasn't being a good navigator that day. 🤣

I can't believe they let her. A while back, not sure if they still do, Costco had a sign that said no returns on cleaning supplies, tp, paper towels, etc.

Agree...they should have the same policy on the returns.  I mean...really?  Unopened packs of paper towels and toilet paper?  Was there a defect?  😮

Oh gosh yes...know those narrow streets in downtown Key West very well.  Kind of like a more tropical version of down town New Orleans with those old streets.  We have gotten ourselves in some tight situations also with the land yacht..always dread that.

Great news Dani, stay safe and healthy!

Thank you so much Dani.  We have been waiting for the hospital to let us know.  Maybe, I will let them know!

Marietta

Thank you all.

The GREAT NEWS is that the phone system to make the appointment has crashed.... Just shows that people have faith in the vaccine and are "roaring" to go.

I'll wait a few days, one of the places to be vaccinated is 5 min walk from our home so no big deal... We might even drop by... and take our chances.

Neat story ! I just turned 70 and am hoping all of us on CC stay healthy so that we can cruise again -- soon!

Many happy returns to both of you 🎂🌼🍷.

Make the most of it, and then some (when "normalcy" returns)...

That is exciting to hear.  Hopefully we will be cruising again sooner than later.

Agree. I walk 1.5 hours every morning so I'm up and on the ships walking track every morning NLT 6:00 AM. One morning on a September 2019 Celebrity cruise I finished walking, went down to the spa/gym showers to do all the in front of mirror stuff and then shower. As I was exiting the shower to grab a towel to dry off  I found myself face to face with an elderly lady. Mind you I was wearing nothing and no towel. We looked at each other and all I could say was, "crap I must be in the ladies shower room". She left without saying a word. I told my wife the story while eating breakfast and she said jokingly, knowing you, you probably were in the women's shower room.

I assume they docked you 5 or 6 Crown and Anchor points.

We traveled in taxis around San Francisco for 2 days before and on the day after our Princess cruise to Hawaii in November/ December 2019.

When we vacate in SF we mostly walk.  We will take the trolley if going from the marina to downtown, but most of the stuff you want to see is in a pretty tight area.  The interstate highways are not horrible if you can avoid the peak times (they are bad just not horrible), but in an RV they would be a major challenge.  People who drive along the coast along the famed Highway 1 are into sight seeing, and it is spectacular in spots.  Then you cross the Golden Gate Bridge and suddenly you are in a complete mess.  We did it in late April 2006.  Hit the Golden Gate Bridge around noon on Highway 1.  It was probably 3PM when we cleared traffic and got out of the city we didn’t get to our hotel in Monterey until about 5:30PM.  Not that many miles probably a bit over 120 miles going from the bridge to Monterey or Carmel.

Oh I love that feeling of getting to the Golden Gate and over, heading north.  Wine country...here we come!  Though lately we have been flying into Sacramento to avoid the SF crush (pun intended).  😉

True, but it would give them a little bit of an idea. Maybe buy some chairs if they don't already have some and stay at a campground with grills.

That's funny because we did the same thing. Ordered the Southwind and drove back down to get it and headed up north that day. Picked it up drove home and loaded all the bags and dive gear in and left. We had already bought plastic wine glasses, plates, etc so we were good to go. 😀

I'm really surprised he said it's ok to do this. We know people are going to do what they want anyway but to come out and say it publicly wasn't smart imo. They'll blame the rise in cases on him.

So, when we rented an RV in Alaska in summer 2018, it came with most of the necessities, including a cheap grill, chairs, coolers, etc.  ABC in Anchorage had shelves full of used crap and you could help yourself to anything you wanted.  Some of it was pretty much trashed, but enough of it was serviceable to meet our needs.  We then went to the Walmart superstore, and loaded up with food, drinks, booze, etc.  When we got to Denali, we were at the camping areas the furthest you are allowed to drive without a special permit, about 29 miles, at the 10 mile point, they stop you to make sure you have a camp site permit etc.  The Ranger asked us that we did have enough supplies for the entire time we were staying and reminded us we could not leave camp, and return to camp except on a park bus.  Kind of makes you realize you better have planed well.

I do recommend renting an RV and driving one before buying one.  I found the RV less intimidating than I expected, but the first time we dumped our black water tank.... we royally effed up that first time...  OMG.  Driving the RV was not as bad as I feared, but the beast was way out of alignment and wheel balance made for an uncomfortable drive.  I think Alaska is a killer to RVs.  That said, the park road was the worst we drove and it wasn’t that bad if you didn’t drive too fast.

We got up early on arrival morning and I took these photos as we were sailing under the

Golden gate bridge.

We could hear the noisy sea lions as we sailed into San Francisco.

We stayed for a couple of nights in downtown SF with our wine sales group many years ago.  The boss and I walked down to the Wharf where they had those floating docks out in the harbor for the Sea Lions...yeah...boy...are they noisy!  And huge!!

Tomorrow is my 75th birthday.  Normally, we would make a pretty big deal about it, even though it's 8 days before Christmas.  We might have taken a Mexican Riviera cruise out of San Diego, where we live.  We might have even taken a flying land visit to Paris for 3 or 4 nights.  We might have gone to Las Vegas for a couple of nights, stayed at a big hotel, had a nice dinner, and taken in a show.  We might have done the above at a local Indian casino.  We might have at least gone out to a local restaurant for a nice dinner.  But, no........

Pat

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!     I hope you get to do something special for your Special Day!

That is great news!    So happy to hear they have started to make appointments for people other than medical workers.

We received an email from my DH's transplant team yesterday that said they do Not know if the vaccine is going to be safe and effective for transplant recipients but they are recommended for all transplant recipients to get the vaccine when it becomes available for them.

Lung transplants will have priority over the other organ transplants, according to the Ministry of Health (so they even have info about who should get it first)

I suppose this is how it is going to be.  Seems like they have determined it's more dangerous for him not to have it.
