Sometimes what I'm thinking in my mind isn't what my fingers type. In my mind, I guess I thought I was asking our CT & RI friends, including a lighthouse loving doctor @Ocean Boy, if they would recognize it.  While it may be a local landmark, it probably isn't world famous enough to be recognized by all.

One good thing about my cat Leonard is that he has absolutely zero interest in human food. He'll walk right by without a glance or sniff.

Speaking of happy moments.... I'm so looking forward to Bella 2 cruise. Hope to make it.

 

Struggling with the complicated strategy of flights... Only direct flights right now are to Miami. And the less expensive. Through NY or Atlanta the rates are plain outrageous.

 

Also, no flights to Miami every day. The latest I can get to Miami is 3 days before the cruise, which is OK (more than 900$ for 3 hotel nights is another story...).

 

Was thinking at least to leave the day the cruise ends, but the flight to Israel from Miami leaves at 1PM. Don't think I can make it...

 

Which means another night in a hotel -- Port Canaveral or Miami. Any thoughts how much time to allow from PC to Miami?

 

I'm posting here instead of the roll call, since the majority of cruisers are from "here", with the additional bonus of other experienced cruisers 😎

Well, we used to live in CT and we have family there close to the RI border, but I knew who you were asking. Sometimes I just can't help myself wanting to look stuff up.  I find it amazing that we can now ask the computer to tell us what a picture is.  I love it.

No, she is extremely polite.  I give cereal milk when I’m finished to both cats and start with Diana first always, as she’s the senior cat.  Minnie always patiently waits her turn.  They know how to indicate extreme interest.  This was George and a Klondike bar…

You give milk to your cats? I've read that cats tend to become very intolerant to milk once they get past being kittens 🤔

I used to work in SF years ago and now only a bridge away but I have never been to Alcatraz or Ghirardelli Square that millions of tourists visit yearly. Tourists sees the city differently than locals, which is fine.

 

I 100% agree with this. I've been on top of the Empire State Building twice as well as the World Trade Center (twice) and Top of the Rock (once). But never been to the Statue of Liberty. Tried once some 30 years ago in July. Got to Liberty Island but the line to get into the actual statue was over 2+ hours long and it was 95+ degrees with no shade in sight.  I said I would come back in Sept when it would be cooler & less crowded. Did I mention that was some 30 years ago?

 

Same with Ellis Island, 9/11 memorial, Central Park and any other countless attractions.  I guess because I'm only an one hour train ride away & can do it anytime, I never do. Go figure.🤷‍♂️

 

Same with restaurants.. It's usually an out-of-towner making a recommendation to me as they've done the research.

If you are using android on a Samsung, all you have to do is press and hold the center button that normally closes your screen then draw a circle around the object in question. Very shortly it will be identified for you.

My cats get the dregs that are left in the cereal bowl after I've finished, and it never seems to bother them. It's just tiny bit.

 

My cats aren't interested in people food other than dairy products. Lucy in particular goes nuts when she smells something with sour cream, yogurt, milk, or cheese. She will sit in the chair next to me at the table and put her paw on my arm to remind me not to forget to share when I'm done. 😂 The only other thing she likes is the juice from the tuna can when Brian makes himself a sandwich.

We didn’t eat cereal often but when we did cats would drink milk left in bowl also . Our last two cats one didn’t care for human food other we had to guard our plates or she would definitely eat whatever it was . Both cats did like tuna , once Shelagh attempted to eat ahi tuna while sitting on the couch, that didn’t work well for her.

I didn’t do that many tourist stuff living in New York but did when I started showing it to my wife who never had been to New York before meeting me. She also loves the city.

Growing up in lower Manhattan, I was privileged to visit most NYC attractions.  I've visited most museums, top of the Empire State bldg., old Yankee Stadium, Statue of Liberty, South St. Seaport, Staten Island Ferry, Central Park, the Bronx Zoo and so many others. When I met Jack, who was visiting from Israel I became his tour guide.  

 

 I watched the twin towers being built from my apt. building but never visited the actual site.

Yes, I’ve read that as well.  I just pay attention to if it seems to upset them.  No retching or ralphing seems to indicate it’s OK for them.

 

And anyway, I don’t think they identify as cats…

The memorial and the museum are unbelievably emotional. Everybody is respectful and quiet, no loud voices anywhere.

My father took us to all the touristy spots.  He made sure, we as New Yorkers, didn’t miss any.  Loved the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.  I remember being amazed at 42st.!  I was a child!!

Thanks,  I have never noticed this.  I just tried it.  It says it is new. I have used "the eye" above pics in the photo gallery.  I will be using this more now!
