Thoughts about vision class ships?

Recommended Posts

We had a southern carribean cruise on seranade cancelled so we are looking to rebook what are the opinions on the vision class ships ? The reviews I have read here seem to paint a picture of you either love or  you don't like them we sailed on oasis in Jan and had a blast but we are going with my dad and my wife's parents so we are looking mid sized ish , looking forward to hearing about vision rhapsody and enchantment  and grandeur but that leaves the fleet next year!

My favorite class of ship is Radiance...love all four sisters....but I also adore the little Vision class ships as an alternate.  Sadly indeed we are about to lose Grandeur.   Original six soon to be down to half at just 3 of them.  Enchantment replacing Grandeur in Baltimore in April.

Vision is due to take over Serenade's 10/11 Carib sailings out of Ft. Lauderdale next winter season.

I would never hesitate to sail on any of the remaining Vision sisters.  🙂

Enjoy your cruise...sigh..whenever we finally get to go again. 😮    And welcome to Cruise Critic.

Love them.  I get just as excited boarding a Vision class ship as I do an Oasis class ship.

Smart CC friend years ago when I asked her which ship was her favorite.....

"Any ship I am currently on".  😉

I love the Vision class ships, especially for enjoying a relaxing cruise.  If you want lots of entertainment and dining options, then a bigger ship is for you.  We also love the Radiance class.

Vision Class like Radiance glass, lots of glass and more like the Love Boat feel f you’re old enough to remember.  As noted,  more traditional cruise experience and generally those that like them REALLY like them

I love, love, L O V E both Radiance and Vision class. I spent 15 nights on Vision last December for a Panama Canal cruise, and it wasn't enough! We could have stayed on for more! It had been over 3 years since we were on Rhapsody so it was refreshing to explore a class we hadn't seen in so long. I actually prefer the pool area on Vision class over Radiance. It feels like it has much more space.

Radiance class has bigger staterooms, more glass, and has fixed some nuances from Vision class like Windjammer and Viking Crown layouts for the better.

Sailed Rhapsody last year around this time. It was the first time back on a Vision Class since the late 90's and loved it. Like others, our favorite ship is the one we're on but the crew was fantastic and the ship was in great shape. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

We absolutely love the serenade and her sister jewel.  We enjoy the grandeur but find Serenade to be nicer overall.

The largest ship we have sailed on was Allure and yes she is nice just wasnt for us.  Probably the largest we like is anthem ots.

I agree with other posts that service is more attentive and personable on the smaller and mid sized ships.  I think the good is better too.

Enjoy planning and stay safe!

We've sailed Vision of the Seas many times on short and long cruises, fantastic ship with the views of the water and friendly crew.  We are due to sail on her next in September from Barcelona to NY and really hoping it goes ahead especially as our Serenade cruise has been cancelled.

Thanks all for the answers  it looks like we are going to rebook on explorer in Jan or feb next year   Thanks all

Voyager class is excellent as it has many Oasis-style amenities onboard.  Vision class does not.  I'll be the lightning rod here and say there are many people who have gone from big ships and boarded a Vision class and had a rude shock.  It's certainly possible to love and enjoy both styles, but they are vastly different and there's a reason you don't tend to see them advertised in any of Royal's flashy promotions

I live in the Baltimore area and cruise on the Vision class frequently.  If you looking for the bells and whistles that are on the other ships......forget it.  If you are looking for a small friendly ship with the standard cruise amenities, pool, casino WJ, etc....then you have made the right choice.  I think you get more for your buck on the next size ship but, if you are from the area.....you will be cruising with your friends and neighbors.  I like that aspect of cruising.

Vision class ships are nice but not many facilities on board.

Our favourite was the Splendour which has now moved to TUI.

We like the Voyager class and above because of the Royal Promenade and there is a lot more to do.

Our favourite was also Splendour especially the Venice departures.

Cruised on her again under the TUI brand earlier this year just for old times sake.

Still a great little ship.

But like you our preferred option now is Voyager and above.

I was on the Vision a couple of months ago, pro - friendly staff, never had the feeling of being in a crowd, during the day ship is on the quiet side, lots of ports.  Con - none of the glitz that larger ships have, including show, eating an drinking options,

We too enjoyed the Venice departures on Splendour.

Splendour in her TUI colours sailed out of Newcastle several times 2 years ago and it was lovely seeing her again although we didn't get on her because we had RC and P&O sailings that year.

Our JS on Vision out of Dubai was lovely.

Our JS on Enchantment out of Port Canaveral was nice but looking in need of refurbishment.

Splendour was easily our favourite Vision class ship.
