Rare trbarton Posted June 7, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2020 Once I’ve loaded all of the required information on the “Ocean Ready App” & have my Medallion do I still have to go to the check-in desk at the pier or can I go onboard once they start boarding? Anyone had any problems using the Medallion & if so what did you do? Thanks! Tom😀

Who knows? Princess may want you to fill out a actual health questionaire... Princess may want to take your temperature... No one (including Princess) knows what the process will be when they resume sailing. This is almost as hard as guessing whether the medallion will work properly for you... I had suggested that princess offer a nice combination mask, medallion holder, with logo and "Come back new." skynight Posted June 7, 2020 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2020 We went on three medallion cruises sailing from FLL, San Pedro and Quebec. In each case those with medallions in hand went directly to the waiting areas and boarded with their groups. Those without went to the check in and picked up their medallions, an extra step that took less than 10 minutes. Boarding was very fast pre-pandemic. Now, no one knows. AF-1 Posted June 8, 2020 #8 Share Posted June 8, 2020 trbarton; you will show your physical passport the the port security; once you pass thru port security and enter the Princess lobby; you show your ocean medallion to a Princess rep and they will direct you to the boarding/waiting area. With the new rules for this pandemic; you may have to get your temp taken at some point. No one will know until cruising starts up again. Have a great day

Yes we’ll all have to wait & see what the new procedures are. Temp taken for sure. With the medallion in what order do they board people? Is it by the level you at with Princess? Thanks again! Tom😀 We had two problems while using the Medallion: we were charged for some drinks that we did not have and were double charged for coins we purchased in the laundry room. Both charges were reversed after we went to the Guest Services desk and showed the Princess representative the charges. When cruising, we always monitor our charges daily just in case false charges hit our bill.

AF-1 Posted June 9, 2020 #12 Share Posted June 9, 2020 I agree with voljeep; the ocean medallion replaces your cruise card. Boarding will be same as before; elites and suites first; followed by others.
Treasure Hunter Posted June 9, 2020 #13 Share Posted June 9, 2020 Pre-pandemic the medallion worked great. It opened your stateroom door and said Hello. It worked great in the Casino at the slot machines. The only door it didn't open was at the suite concierge lounge, which was a pain as that door is very heavy and it is hard to bring food/drinks back to your room and open the door at the same time. Boarding took seconds. Sigh

Took a couple of visits to customer service to get the charge reversed.
phabric Posted June 18, 2020 #15 Share Posted June 18, 2020 On my Oct 2019 Sky Mediterranean cruise, on my second week of my B2B, my medallion would not open the cabin door. The guest services replaced the Medallion with my name and ship information with in minutes.
AF-1 Posted June 20, 2020 #16 Share Posted June 20, 2020 phabric; do you think your medallion battery died?
phabric Posted June 20, 2020 #17 Share Posted June 20, 2020 It must have as my cabin mate’s Medallion worked fine at the door. I was surprised the new medallion had my name/ship information on it in only a couple of minutes.
AF-1 Posted June 20, 2020 #18 Share Posted June 20, 2020 when the medallion program came out; the battery was supposed to last weeks after your cruise; your medallion was just one of the unlucky ones; oh well you got a new one and that's good
phabric Posted June 20, 2020 #19 Share Posted June 20, 2020 (edited) My Sky Oct 2019 cruises were Sky’s first cruise for customers. Sky had a 3-4 day cruise for top executives and travel agents before my cruise from dockyard to Athens. I enjoyed using the medallion. san diego sue Posted June 20, 2020 #20 Share Posted June 20, 2020 Used it on the Caribbean Princess, Sky, and Royal. Battery failed once on the Sky and medallian was replaced. Also for some reason the battery for our door failed several times on the Sky 28 day cruise. We never called it in because the door worked but somehow it showed up on ship's computer system and staff showed up at our door. It feels exciting when the medallians show up in the mail prior to cruise. It was something to look forward to prior to our cruise and the excitement really builds up when it actually shows up.You get a lanyard with it too. We changed the background color of the medallian holder. It is blue. On board they sell all different backgrounds. I think they are $3.95. We went to craft store and bought craft paper with designs on it. Cut out and inserted in medallian holder. Paper was .25 each for full sheet. The background that comes with medallian has nothing to do with your status.. I liked changing the background and not flaunting status. However the medallian itself is the color of your status.
phabric Posted June 20, 2020 #21 Share Posted June 20, 2020 I purchased the Canadian background for the Medallion holder. I had so many people come up to me inquiring about it. A great way to meet other Canadians. I purchased on the Caribbean at $3/1 or $5/2 in 2018 and the price went up on the Sky in 2019 to $5/1.
AF-1 Posted June 20, 2020 #22 Share Posted June 20, 2020 When I sailed on Caribbean Princess last year I saw quite a few passengers with different type holders. Some bought them onboard; and others bought them online.
