Rare Eddie99 Posted September 4, 2020 #626 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Safaga - what a place! We were there on a fabulous Thompson Red Sea cruise. What a lot we saw. The Safaga cement factory was not the highlight 😀 2

Snow Hill Posted September 4, 2020 #633 Share Posted September 4, 2020 Santa Cruz de La Palma - Boxing Day 2013 Aurora in harbour, can't rember name of other ship "Ye olde cruise ship" aka a replica of the Columbus's Santa Maria This port was not on our original itinerary, High winds and rough seas prevented us getting in to Lisbon, so the captain found us this berth in La Palma in the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz was a wonderful town to stroll around in Boxing Day, The Guy in the purple shirt is Tom O'Connor who was on board as one the speakers, think it took him an hour to walk up the street, as people kept stopping to chat to him.

La Palma is our favourite of all the Canary Islands. We've seen Tom O'connor on a couple of cruises and he's lovely bloke. Very friendly and a real gentleman. Avril The odd thing is that before we booked the cruise we were planning to go to La Palma for Christmas, but after reading some reports on the hotel we decided against it, odd that we ended up there on Boxing Day. We should have gone to La Gomera as well, but the Saga ship docked there the day before couldn't get out due to strong winds. Only 2 of the main islands left to visit now Fueurventura and El Hierro

Tom was on Arcadia a few years back and did a very entertaining show. I passed him a plate at the breakfast buffet and while I’m sure others have better claims to fame I’m proud of that one!

Izzywiz Posted September 5, 2020 #649 Share Posted September 5, 2020 more amazing photographs of the S ports. I have to say that we have enjoyed our visits to both Salalah and Safaga. We are countryside people and always try to get out of the port areas so here are a few of our adventures.....I thought the coastline away from Salalah port was stunning Splendour of the Seas, Salalah, Oman, the coast
