HAL speed-to-cash offer is back

We have already booked part of the  cruise we want (the TA with the Have It All promo), and I think we will apply our FCC (if it ever comes through!!) to that.  The earlier segment in the Med, I think we will book without the promo (restricted fare) and perhaps pay the whole thing up front to get the 10% off as well as some OBC, as with the restricted fare, you have to buy the insurance at the same time anyway.  We will have to see if our PCC can get us the same room for both segments.  We have never had a problem moving, but it will be the day in Barcelona, and we would have to try to get it all done before breakfast!

In the Terms and Conditions link from the website it states voyage 14 day + are excluded

For the record, the booking associated w/ the offer e-mail from which I cut and paste the Ts+Cs)  is a 14-day Oct 2021 TA. HAL's consistent inconsistency is showing through. 🙂   As attractive as this offer is, I'm disinclined to advance CCL any more money.  Scott.

We haven’t received the offer.  I’m wondering if it’s because our booking is in Canadian dollars?

Jacqui I received the offer yesterday and I have 2 bookings all in Cdn funds.  They are B2B so just waiting to see if I can apply it to both......

There isn't.  It is all very mysterious.  I have talked to the PCC department on Sept. 21, 24, and yesterday.  I spoke to 3 different PCC's.   I sent a detailed email to Risa with names/times/conversations on September 28 as I was told she would be back this day.  No response.  When I called yesterday they said she will be back Oct. 12.  I did say to them if for some reason she is no longer working there feel free to reassign reservation to a different PCC.  As I say, it is all very mysterious, lol.  So, finally yesterday it was sent to a "supervisor" to see if they would approve assigning from direct to PCC department.  I know I leave some $$ on the table not using a TA, but, I've not had good experience with TA's.

With everything you're going through here with HAL, are you sure you do not want to give a chance to a brick-and-mortar travel agency (not a big box) with more than one first-class travel professional?

  • 3 weeks later...

I found this thread yesterday just after finishing booking my Jan 2022 Eastern Caribbean cruise.  Even though we have the HIA promo, I felt the $750 installment to get $250 OBC was worth it for  us.  If my husband can use it in the casino, even better, but we can spend it on HMC and in the shops anyway.  With interest rates the way they are right now, this is a good return on my investment, lol!

I do not believe I have seen an offer like this Pre-Covid.

And what does that tell you.  I just hope those of you taking them up on this  offer don’t get burned.  Why would a company pay 33% interest on a prepayment.....

Actually for Canadians it turns out to be 45% return, we pay $750 CDN and get back $250.00USD OBC.  I did for one of my upcoming cruises, didn't work for the other cruise as it is too long.  My cruises are in 2022.  I think by February 2021 things are going to really be looking up.  My doctor is preparing to receive the vaccine in January 2021 first off is high risk individuals and healthcare workers.  My doctor herself has an Africa trip planned in June 2021.

I did not proceed forward with the offer.  I may or may not regret it, but, this is what I am most comfortable with at this time.

Mary is right.  It’s a huge return for we Canadians.  We are only required to pay $750 in Canadian and get $250 OBC in U.S. $.

I think our cruise is far enough away to be safe.  I weighed the risk versus reward and decided that the reward was well worth the risk.

I actually discussed it with my TA who is very knowledgeable IMO and she is doing the same thing.

If cruises don’t go at all, then I have a lot more to lose than $750 to lose since I have an FCC being applied to my cruise.  🙂

If someone has mentioned this, I apologize for repeating.

We have a cruise booked March 14-21, 2021.  Our TA called HAL last week and was told this offer was only for cruises April 1, 2021 - April 2022.  😬  Sometimes it seems we get conflicting information................
