lifeisrealygood Posted December 13, 2020 #27 Share Posted December 13, 2020 My wife and I have been on 27 Celebrity Cruises, and a taste, one or two cruises each, on Royal Caribbean, Regent, Holland America, Princess, and Tauck (River). We continue to like Celebrity, maybe just because we know the product, which gives us what we need. We are in our mid-seventies, so we are pretty much done with the European, South American, Far East, Australia and New Zealand cruises, the ones where there is a lot of sightseeing. We pretty much now stick to the Caribbean sailings, and our shore excursions each day consist of getting off the ship, and getting on a Catamaran. We are not suite people. We always get a concierge cabin mid-ship, the 1205, 1207, 1209 cabins on the "S" class, and we are pretty much done with the "M" class. We also were not crazy about the Edge. Did not like the "Infinity Balconies" at all. We normally take 12 to 14 day cruises, which seem to be becoming fewer and fewer. We like the Southern Caribbean, so doing two seven day back to back, Eastern and Western caribbean, do not do it for us, as they do not go far enough South. So, we are staying with Celebrity as we know the product, know the layouts of the ships, are comfortable with the activities and the islands, the food is okay, and the dance (house) bands in the Caribbean are normally pretty good, mostly. My wife likes to dance, so our evenings are spent in the Sky Lounge or the Foyer for the dancing, when we are not in the casino playing blackjack. Our next three booked cruises are "free", as we have used the FCC's and "Lift & shift" options for our booked and paid for cruises that were cancelled. So, we can decide after those next three cruises, but we probably will still stay with Celebrity. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!. Many on here are not at all happy with Celebrity, but I doubt the experience on any other cruise line is much better. We took two Regent cruises and decided after the first one that the "luxury" lines were too stuffy for us. But, we did it a second time to give them another chance. We still did not like the Luxury experience.. So, we stayed with Celebrity. 4

Two of the cruises are on Celebrity Summit? The other two are on Equinox? The remedy is to find a cruise line you will enjoy booking with ships and at prices you will enjoy better. I have. I've got two AZ cruises booked and about to lock in a luxury one. BTW I ain't afeared of Celebrity knowing. Well done, Chucktown Steve. I would expect a fellow Central Florida resider would figure it out, well, almost. Ships are Equinox and Apex. Cruise prices up to $280 per day per person in April 2022. I could sell on Oceania for that price.

Casino is very small (certainly by X standards), nightly shows are "good" but they aren't multi level productions. For many people there wouldn't be enough activity on smaller ships like AZ or O "Better" for the same price is very subjective. I liked O, but not sure if I would sail it again. I liked Crystal and would do that again - river and ocean. I would also sail X again in AQ. They are great products but offering a different experience once you get on the ship.

Sailed on Oceania seven times; food is great, of course my opinion does not reflect others, accommodations great, showroom sucks, activities ok; have not sailed on Oceania since 2017 cause Celebrity offered better product that I like for price. Now things have changed.

Mr&MrsBee Posted December 13, 2020 #35 Share Posted December 13, 2020 Amazing how ship board staff are so good and mainland staff so terrible. Is this a LLP influence? Sorry to say but thinking of saying good bye to X. Hopefully getting our money back soon from the great Celebrity Ponzi scheme. If I buy from X I am charged immediately. Yet wait months for a refund. Time to quite blaming the virus and put it where it belongs.

Time to quite blaming the virus and put it where it belongs. My experience has been much different. At the start of the pandemic our refund took about 75 days. In the last 4 months we have cancelled 2 cruises and Celebrity has cancelled 3. Refunds for 4 have been back on our credit card within 3 - 8 days. One cruise was a NRD and we had the FCC in just over 2 weeks.

I think if you try to deal with the general phone numbers for reservations and resolving issues you get the Royal Caribbean Group call center folks that handle all of their cruise lines. I agree that this is hit and miss depending on who you get. But when I have dealt specifically with Celebrity onshore staff (concierge, captain's club, etc) I have generally had very good to excellent experiences. misterkevin Posted December 14, 2020 #48 Share Posted December 14, 2020 I was also driven to look to other lines when I saw how much Celebrity fares have risen disproportionately to competitors. Over the years of cruising with Celebrity, we have moved from Aqua to Suite class because of the experience and amenities. It's always been fabulous. Even entry level suites are now priced up to 30% more than luxury competitors. As such, we've booked a southern caribbean 7-day out of Barbados on Seabourn in March of 2022 for 30% less than a Sky Suite on Celebrity. Some, but not all, of the difference in price will be absorbed by the added airfare and cost of Wi-Fi, but I'm hoping that the atmosphere and service will exceed our expectations. Further, promotions on Seabourn are giving us refundable, reduced deposits and $1600 in onboard credit for the cabin between the line and my TA. It's too bad, because I love the Celebrity brand. However, I'm skeptical that these inflated prices will stand over time. Perhaps the increase will make up for reduced demand right now, and the fares will be more deeply discounted as the future embarkation dates approach? Regardless, these current fares are out of line relative to Celebrity competitors. If Oceania, Azamara, Viking, Regent, Silversea, Seabourn, or Crystal have itineraries at equal or less fares, Celebrity will lose loyalists like myself and many of you on this thread.
