Rare island lady Posted December 14, 2020 #26 Share Posted December 14, 2020 I keep teasing my sister (doctor) that she should apply to RCI....she told me they don't pay enough. 😉

Lol I would rather pay and forget that I am a physician for a week. 3

I remember one doctor we had at NCL, who had retired as a physician, went into "day trading", and when that went bust, signed up with NCL. He could not quite get his head into the fact that he had to run to emergency cases, after all, he was the doctor, and cases came to him. Didn't last long.

They made me hobble down to Medical when I broke my foot on loose flooring (twisted/fell). Then again, when they wanted to interview me (to find out if I would sue them)...I didn't sue, but probably should have. 😉

You were not an emergency (I was referring to cardiac issues and fires), but the senior officers should have called for a Medical team (who are basically a "stretcher team") to transport you to the Medical Center. Yeah, but I consider it my fault on that painful hobble...I should have asked for use of a wheelchair. At the time, I really just thought I twisted it badly...until the Xray came out. Jones fracture. THEN...I was in a wheel chair, broke it on first night...lovely way to spend the rest of the cruise. 😞

Every medical officer that I have met on the ships was a physician. Pretty sure they have to have experience in emergency medicine from what I remember hearing at a Captain's Corner.
