May not need to but they may just to keep the ship buttoned up.

 

In the past when a ship stayed late in Nassau the casino on board opened while in port once land casinos were closed.  They have an agreement in place for this scenario.

Just priced out July 24th for my family of 4.

 

Balcony stateroom is $3,300 total for the 4 of us ($825pp). Airfare from Atlanta to Nassau round trip is $1220 total for the 4 of us ($305pp). In the grand scheme of things its not more expensive than any other summer 7 night cruise I’ve priced out in the past. Even the airfare isn’t much more than what we’d pay to fly to South Florida. If anything, the whole cost may be a bit cheaper. I just normally don’t cruise during the summer months so I’d need to give this one some thought. 
 

Price wise it’s very doable, but I’d be booking it just to get back to cruising as soon as possible, not because it’s a cruise that I’d really like to take.

Got my B2B2B booked beginning June 12, 2021 and got the Air2Sea flight booking made as well... was about $200-$300 less than it'd cost to book direct, though I had to compromise on a United flight to Nassau, and American connecting flight on the return. I could've done a United round-trip non-stop if I'd booked myself. I figured it was probably worth the savings and I haven't been on American in 30_ years anyway, so maybe worth it to check them out again. It's in Business and First so it can't be terribly horrid.

Wondering if these cruises mean that there will be no cruising out of the US this summer?  I know I could cancel the cruise under CWC but I would not be very happy booking a cruise that I had to fly to Nassau to take only to find out 2 months from now that I could have driven an hour and taken one out of PC

For sure. We never sail over summer. We cruise in the fall when the kids are back to school.  We''re taking this one because we NEED a family vacation and we're excited about this ship.  The activities have my 15 year old super excited!

I'm not booking any of them but even if I did most of the final payments for them will most likely come before Royal cancels July and August sailings  And most people seem to book non refundable flights

Tell me this on these sailings, most will have to be paid in full and are non refundable rates.

 

Say  80 days from now something happens that permits them from doing any of these sailings and they are all canceled....Isn't this a way to get a nice influx of new money into their hands.

 

These just aren't deposits sitting there this is full payments. Nice income for sure for RCCL..........in return if all the sailings are canceled, just hand out more FCC's.

When I checked out on my first booking on a Spacious Balcony category (as a solo traveler) I noticed it was about $850 more if I wanted to book it as refundable. So, while that may vary, I've never, ever seen it anywhere close to that high on a 7-night (or really, any length) sailing.

If the sailings are cancelled the fare becomes 100% refundable.

In the FAQ they've provided a lot of info regarding what happens if you don't provide proof of vaccination or a negative test, including if a sailing is cut short due to an outbreak, all specifically saying "full refund" and not FCC. Some other cases talking about refund or FCC, so the clarity of what is meant is there. An FCC is not a refund.

 

Now your scenario is a bit different of course, but I think your scenario is also a lot less likely, too. In any case, I'm not really terribly worried, myself.
