Surprised that someone on our  Allure July 11 roll call just booked the cruise in April (2021).    What an optimist!  Perhaps they are doing that 25% "profit"  on money held for a few months investment strategy.

That's the game people have been playing for 15 months and then they complain that it's taking too long for them to cancel and get the FCC

Out of all of the speculation we have been debating over the past year, nobody could have even imagined that Florida, the key holder for cruising in the US would be holding things up. That has been the biggest curve ball yet.

Heres an idea. Royal needs to close bookings for sailings they know are not going to happen. For instance, I can still book a cruise on July 3rd for Symphony out of Miami. Royal knows full well that this will not sail and be cancelled but yet still they are selling this in bad faith. If you dont want to have people gaming the system then i would suggest that Royal not engage in behavior that encourages it

Caveat Emptor... Anyone who hasn't done their homework deserves what they get.  To be honest I think the only ones who would book those cruises are those who are gaming the system for the 125% FCC trying to hedge against the increasing costs of cruising next year.   I don't think that Royal cares that they are gaming because in the end they will control the future pricing. I think the 125% FCC is a trap. Sounds good on the surface but not so good if the cruise price doubles. The lift and shift is a better deal if it works out.

Yep wholly take your point on this.... but Florida doesn't impact on whether rhapsody (currently bobbing about and going nowhere soon in Miami and the Bahamas) will sail out of Ravenna on 3rd July.......

So you are good with a company that offers a service/good that they know they cannot deliver?

That's operating in bad faith with the customer. As a consumer, shouldnt there be an implied trust with a company that advertises a service/good that they will be able to deliver on it? Why should one have faith in Royal in the future and want to chose them when they have shown that they do not operate in good faith? NCL has announced their July plans and even today cancelled an August-Oct sailings from the DR. Carnival announced their plans for July though one could argue if they will actually achieve them.

But then there is Royal who refuses to communicate to their fully paid customers.

Not a bad idea if you have a cruise payment coming up shortly to make a quick 25% just put the money out a bit earlier.  IF I were to do that I would pick an early July cruise to book😇

Genuine question is the interest in hearing cancellations for July so that y'all can get a refund?

We have a 4 night in July balcony cabin for 2 for under $700 total.  Already has been shifted once but hoping to get to shift it again to 2022.  Right now the price for 1 person in a balcony not incl taxes is over $700

The minute they announce a plan and then have to change that plan, people then default to complaining that they are being inconsistent and changing too much.

There's really no win for the cruise line here so the best course of action is to not say anything until announcements can be made with a significant amount of confidence.

All of the information is out there for someone to make an intelligent decision. If someone is booking a cruise now for July 3rd expecting it to sail 100% they are either incredibly optimistic or have been living under a rock.  Cruises are a crap shoot on a good day. Itineraries can change, charters can cause  booked passengers to be canceled and there can be mechanical and weather issues  that will change the outcome of the cruise. Anyone who booked during the pandemic knew what they were getting into.

Its amazing that you are such an apologist that you will not concede that Companies need to operate under good faith with their customers otherwise they will lose said customers and therefore its a bad business practice.

I bet you think those people who booked the Frye Festival had it coming as well...You see how well that ended for the organizers who knew they couldnt deliver.

I see some merit in that approach but all I am asking for is at least some more communication along the way. Its a fluid time, I get that. But at least put out tentative plans. And not instruct customer service reps to lie to fully paid customers that their sailing is still a go when Royal knows it will not happen.

Yes, people will complain either way, its the way of the world unfortunately

I'm not sure it is fair to say that Florida is holding it up.  I don't see any ships queueing up in Galveston, Cape Liberty, Baltimore or any other cruise port.  Only Seattle has a plan to at this point and many on this board are quite skeptical that those will sail (I'm not and I'm booked on one.) My suspicion is that something will be worked out and the first cruises to sunny destinations will leave out of Florida without problem.

I real bad for those not in driving distance that have plane and hotel reservations.  It's really not fair to them.  We have one booked for July 19th but only have an hour drive not other expenses and cancellations to deal with.

We also on a B2B for July 19.  No news is good news.

Please don’t forget about those of us who booked well before the pandemic. I booked my August Symphony cruise in November 2019. I am crossing my fingers that the lift and shift option might still be in place if they cancel. We were able to get a fantastic deal in this cruise, and would not be able to afford to go next year unless it’s a L&S. The 125% doesn’t cover the cost difference at all.

I am not familiar with this "30 day policy"

Any details? Is there any repercussion to it, or is it just a "feel good" statement by the company and is not binding?

Somewhere on their website was wording to the effect that they would notify guests of the protocols 30 days in advance of sailing

Except - Many upcoming cruises are significantly higher than current prices.   It would  take 2 sets of FCC's to get one new cruise.  But I guess those who are using RCCL as a short term  high interest (25%)  savings account have figured that out.

I don't blame customers from using the system  - I blame the corporation for the flaw in the system.

We were also booked way prior to the pandemic.

Our July  2021 cruise was originally  scheduled for March 2020 but  booked in May of 2019.  It has been moved several times.    Hoping we can move it again.  It was my annual casino prime  cruise ( a complementary inside cabin) so I know any new cruise will have a much larger upgrade  cost. Plus the newer cruises have much higher taxes and fees.

What a mess for the customers as well as the company.

I have the week off and need alternate plans. It's a time issue, not a dollar issue.

Honestly, I already assume our July 11, 7 night Allure cruise from PC is cancelled. I’ve already made some medical appointments for that week.

The official cancellation announcement will not be a surprise to me.

on that one as well....crazy they haven't announced a cancellation yet!

That is probably me you are talking about - we actually booked this a couple years ago, but 2020 was cancelled, rebooked to 2021, had to pay up in April of course....now anticipating a cancelation again....:) ah well.  life could be worse.
