Something they can do though they might do earlier is if cruises open up in the US, bring the ship back to the US earlier and start cruising from the US. I bet they would make A LOT more money from the US right now then those Europe sailings during that same time frame. Sounds too logical for Royal Caribbean to comprehend. I was more then glad to shift and lift to a brand new ship with the same itinerary. Until I see it on my account I will not believe it. Please let me know if this is the case. That would be great! Fortunately I didn't have anything booked because I was out of work the beginning of last year and I tend to book last minute. I certainly would not be booking anything until this ordeal is over or at least until something sails. Following all of these threads was an eye opener. Had I had something on the books in 2020 I would have taken the cash. I knew nothing was going out last year but what really scared me was not knowing what the on board experience would be. Too many people are locked in and can't make other plans because of the way Royal has been handling cancellations. gdwest Posted June 4, 2021 #55 Share Posted June 4, 2021 Regarding Lift & Shift...doesn't the new date have to be the following year? My email states " sailing within 2 weeks (before or after) of the original sale date the following year. I was hoping I could L&S to the following week...from August 16 to the following week of August 23 since they will state up on the 23rd.

Yes it needs to be the following year: Option 2: Select a New Sail Date (Lift & Shift) If you prefer to move your existing booking to a sailing in 2022 - we're happy to move you! We will price protect the original pricing and/or promotion on a sailing that has the same embarkation port, sailing length, product, and stateroom category as your original sailing within 2 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date the following year. For example, if you are moving from a July 1, 2021 sailing, you can move to another sailing that has the same embarkation port, length, product, and stateroom category, and has a sail date between June 17, 2022 - July 15, 2022. Please know, price protection covers your cruise fare/promotion on an applicable sailing only and excludes taxes and fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items, as these may change. You must decide to move to a new sailing by June 11, 2021. If not, we will automatically issue you a Future Cruise Credit. Complimentary Casino offers, Charter sailings, and select rates are not eligible for this offer.

The reason everyone was lifting and shifting was because they got a good deal. Now look where they stand. If you are willing to take the chance go for it. All these questions that are coming up in this thread especially yours gives me reason to believe that cash is a sure thing. I am sure if you called 3 customer service reps now with your question you would get 3 different answers after they put you on hold to ask a supervisor. That's par for the course on a good day. Rare Lionesss Posted June 4, 2021 #64 Share Posted June 4, 2021 I just checked the price of our upcoming Symphony of the Seas October 10, of this year. The price has increased by about 30% from when we booked it last fall. (L1). Do not know the price increase of any other cabins, because I did not follow those. My granddaughter has been to the Bahamas many times and wasn;t that hot on going again. I am thinking about maybe flying down to Atlantis for next summer and skipping doing a cruise with her (she enjoyed staying there before) and then maybe doing a Med cruise with her the summer of 2023 when she is 13. Italy, Greece, etc. I can see spending that kind of money on a trip like that , not on PC Nassau and Coco Cay.
Rare orville99 Posted June 4, 2021 #72 Share Posted June 4, 2021 Would have done L&S for our two cancelled July cruises, but there are no comparable suites available on matching itineraries in 2022, so we took the refund on both.

mmcgann11 Posted June 4, 2021 #75 Share Posted June 4, 2021 Damn. There goes our Aug. 29 departure on Oasis. Frustrating -- but at least we have time to book another vacation. Not sure we're going to lift and shift or do the cruise credit, as this is the second time we've lost this booking (we were booked in the same window in 2020). Hopefully, our trip on Anthem in December will go as planned.
