A friend of mine was at the mid-ship hot tub on the Nieuw Amsterdam and heard a little girl ask another little girl if she had been baptized.  The child said no and so the first baptized her using the correct formula.  (Since there was no parental consent it was not valid, I assured my friend.)

I love this story.

Our faith believes that salvation and baptism are between the believer and God.  Period.  It would be good if the Captain could issue a certificate of baptism, if the child believed that a significant event had happened.

The little children were laughing about it.

This is a true story!

I was a certified softball umpire for 33 years officiating both high school girls games and adult league games.

I once was umpiring a co-ed game. A woman rounded third base and was physically grabbed by a male third base coach. I called her out because that is coach's interference as a coach is not allowed to physically assist a runner in any way. It was the third out of the inning.

Since it was the third out, the teams were switching. One of the women coming out to play defense said to me, "Mr. Umpire, why did you call her out?" I explained that he could not touch her because that was coach's interference, and that was an out.

She then replied, "It's ok Mr. Umpire for him to touch her; they're married."

After a moment or two of stunned silence, I told her fine he can touch her anywhere he wants except on my softball field.
