Perfection?

If the first margarita isn't perfect, I drink it anyway, enjoy the ocean view, and hope the 2nd is better.  I've found that by the 4th one, they're pretty close to perfect.

D C, at first I didn’t know if you were telling me to FO, but I see your not or I am too stupid to know, which is very possible.  Yes, the first one wasn’t that great, but at number 5 for me, numbness set it. Cheers if onboard, mate.

There is a heli-pad, but it might be a challenge of a lifetime. 😂 I’ll keep posting Yoshi, no matter how many fresh squeezed orange juices I have.  Cheers from Raw on Five…

Ha! Nope!

A cruise is about enjoying the cruise! And if margarita #5 isn't quite perfection, maybe #6 will do the trick!  🙂

(it's really a matter of persistence 😉

I honestly don't think it would matter if the bartender gave me something totally unrelated to what I ordered.  The air, the sea, the relaxation..... getting away... those are better than a margarita.... at least a little bit 🙂

Thanks @bnurick for all of your posts during your cruise. The recurring theme I sense from you is "normalcy" which is something we all need at this time. This thread has me seriously considering booking Edge very soon.

Thanks Rich!  Yes, normalcy is something we are experiencing. Today the Adventure ship docked across from us and I am old they all wear masks onboard because of vaccination rates. After this cruise, that is not a possibility for us. It’s been very normal and mentally healthy. Cheers!

Thanks Stinky!  Cheers from the ocean!

There must be an equivalent post elsewhere on CC from someone on the Adventure looking at the Edge.

"NONE OF THEM WERE WEARING MASKS!" 😆

I want to join the chorus of those thanking @bnurickfor these on board reports. My DW and I are booked on the Aug. 28 Edge (after having three other cruises cancelled on us since fall, 2020) and each post gives us more optimism that we will have that moment, just after clearing the gangway, of peace bliss in just about eight weeks. I hope that last couple days prove as enjoyable -- again, thank you.

Also joining in on the chorus of thanks!

We’d resigned ourselves to waiting until our next booked cruise in January, never considering we’d feel comfortable cruising any sooner. But … your posts, which have provided an “inside peek” at what these early cruises will be like, have us inspired (as well as impressed with how celebrity is doing things), that we have our sights on Edge for Aug 28, trying a suite for the first time, to celebrate our 28th anniversary! Our 28th on the 28th! A sign for sure!
So, thanks for all the time you’ve taken from your holiday, to share so much information!

Live aboard the Edge too, if you told me this was the first US cruise post COVID you would have us fooled.

Normalcy is a good way to describe it, it is as close to perfect as you can get.

Service has been impeccable and you can tell the staff has been preparing very hard to get this cruise right.

i cant speak for everyones risk levels are regarding health or what is an acceptable restart error level is for you personally, but from one couple……

in my opinion, we are back and i would not hesitate to book if you are ready—enjoy these early levels of low occupancy on board-that we will all miss!

Kudos to the Edge team and our fellow cruise thread leader for the updates!

I see that now!  Yes, no real masks on Edge.  A few here and there.  Thanks!

Thanks Tammy!  I’d book early as they sold out of this one and you don’t want to miss out!

Thanks for all your posts. I’ll be on the 7/10 sailing so I’m really excited to read about your experience. Question: can you comment on the casino experience if you have been there? Is it crowded and if so, does it vary with the time of day or evening? Do you know if the slots are paying about the same as pre-pandemic? I know that might be a silly question, but my husband and I live pretty close to several casinos and we have always enjoyed the slots but have found that the slots seemed to have really tightened up since the pandemic. Maybe its my imagination. I don’t expect to win but I view playing the slots as entertainment and would like to play for a while before tapping out. Thanks!

I’ve really am enjoying your review as I’ll be on the Edge in September.

I was on the Adventure last week and there was no mask mandate for vaccinated passengers. Masks were only required for unvaccinated children under 16. All other passengers had to be vaccinated, no exceptions. When we arrived in Mexico, we were told we had to wear masks in the cruise port area.

Because there were multiple people from our fb group doing a b2b who are still posting,  I think someone would have posted if masks were now mandated. That would have been a big thing, but things do change quickly these days. I’ll ask about this.

The Adventure is sailing from Nassau so Royal can mandate vaccinations and allow vaccinated guests to go maskless indoors.

However masks are universally required indoors on all Royal Caribbean ships leaving from Florida. Because Royal Caribbean is so popular with families with young children and they cannot mandate vaccinations, the powers that be do not think they can attain a 95% passenger vaccination rate on board. (They are making it extremely expensive for adults that will not voluntarily show their vaccination card.)

Thank you. Sounds like current status is:

Celebrity doesn’t have many kids so they are making it painful on unvaccinated adults so they hit 95%.

Royal Caribbean is sailing from the Bahamas do they can require adults to be vaccinated because they have more children making 95% difficult to achieve.

Universally, vaccinated adults don’t have to wear masks onboard.

Just saw that the most recent Daily Planner included the Silent Disco.  Didn't think that this would go off any more.  So excited that it is returning and hopeful that it will also be part of our cruise out of St. Maarten for July 17th.  It is one of our favorite activities...just gives us another reason to be excited!!

Royal is not sailing by the same CDC requirements as X which requires 95% of passengers to be vaccinated.

Also, vaccinations are mandated by the home port location that the ship is departing/ returning to.

I believe Royal is using the same criteria as Celebrity to encourage vaccinated adults, only difference is they don't have to hit the 95% vaccinated for the CDC to  be able to sail.   Still if eligible and don't choose to or can't show vaccination proof you go in the unvaccinated pool and have the extra onerous and costly protocols including having to show proof of appropriate Covid insurance (RCL only at this point).

Thanks so much for sharing your cruise with us!  I hope you are having a fantastic time!

I would like to book a cruise on the Edge in August only if Captain Kate and Bug are on the ship. 🙂 I know Captain Kate's contract is for three months at a time and she arrived in early June.  Just want to confirm.

Many thanks and enjoy the rest of your cruise!

@bnurickNot meaning to bug you.  But, I know most ships have "sale" days in their jewelry stores on one (or more) of their sea days.  I've got a TON of OBC due to a large fare price decrease.  Since the GF can't go with me on this one because of work, I want to get her a nice piece of jewelry with the OBC.  Do they still have gold, jewel, watch sales in the jewelry stores?

I'm not talking those cheesy $10 watch or costume jewelry sales.  I'm thinking something that is on sale on board but still way overpriced. 😉
