Just off Carnival Vista

We just got off the vista and my first impression was that it was business as usual. Other than the new muster process everything else was normal.

we had a great time. They do need to work on their technology. A lot of stuff just did not work.
I will do a full review later, just my first thoughts.

So far the worst complaint is some things werent perfect, but I'll tell you what later. Probably hub app since op says tech. But I've only seen people who dont say what they didnt like much. Odd when people post not perfect but they dont want to say. .. not just the op as I've read a few who were on last week with unspecified gripes.

Look forward to ops specifics.

Hub app and some intangibles, like understaffing and crews that haven't worked together before and/or are made up of a higher ratio of new-hires.  All of which will be ironed out by the time your cruise arrives.  Don't worry, be happy.

Masks in all three ports as well.  Not while on beach in Roatan.  Very strict in Belize.  No masks while snorkeling but back on when back on snorkle boat.  Everywhere in Coz.  Didn't do water things there so not sure their restrictions.

Thanks for sharing this.  I'm excited about some of the upcoming features of the Hub app, so I'm a little disappointed they can't get the features correct that they've already announced.

I understand the problems with synergy and all the n00bs, and I'm as confident as you that those will be resolved (mostly) in a few weeks.

Thank you for sharing!  And we all thank you for being the first ones to "test the waters" for the rest of us - taking one for the team!  😍  Seriously, glad you a had a great cruise. And even prior to CV, not all cruises were perfect.  You just have to be thankful you are able to cruise and enjoy it!  Looking forward to more details, especially for those of us who sail in the coming weeks.

I've read from someone else steakhouse double and triple booked and some didnt get steaks they were happy with. Lost reservation. To me it's more specific to pay venues than just the hub app needs tweaking  .. but I'm specifically looking for reviews about the pay restaurants.

Last time I got surf and turf and they cooked my lobster to mush so I was just getting the steak and now people complaining it wasn't up to par. Saying it was overbooked by 200% and 300% peak times worries me too. I've been saying with so much obc around a ton more will want pay venues for dinner. Add me in lol.

I watched a recent you-tube video from JJ Cruises, in which the 2 owners were on the 1st Vista cruise out of Galveston. They mentioned they had several issues from that 1st cruise. They said that embarkation was a mess in that people were showing up earlier than their check in times and that there were very long lines lasting up to a couple of hours to get checked in. They mentioned that dinner service be it in the main dining room or in a specialty restaurant took a minimum of 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. They mentioned that the casino bar in the casino was removed and that it took at a minimum of 30 minutes or longer to get a drink.

In spite of these problems, they still had a great cruise and commented about the great job the crew did under these circumstances. I am not offering any opinions because I was not on the cruise, but again went to JJ cruises on you-tube to watch these 2 owners talk about their sailing experience on that Vista 1st 2021 sailing.

Followed your link. They were reviewing their Horizon Cruise out of Miami. That said, I hope the issues they experienced aren't replicated on the Vista.

Even before Covid, Galveston has always been way more strict about check-in times, thank goodness. They had gotten embarkation down to a science. Every account I've read/seen so far about Vista's first sailing has indicated that nothing has changed much in that regard, and that embarkation was quick and easy. We'll be on Breeze in 17 days -- I'll let you know! 😁

For those of your on these early cruises....what capacity are they running at?

Some are saying Carnival is going at 100%

First 2 ran just under 3k who boarded. Ships hold from 4200ish to 49000 depending if you count full capacity or 2 to a cabin capacity. The capacity numbers are all over the place but this is first time I've seen 100 lol. No matter how you count.

I think it's a issue because there isnt a hard and fast way to do percentages but not close to 100, someone fooling with ya,

Sure, that was more than likely their perception.

But now aren't the lines allowed to increase by 20-30% every 30 days" Would seem next month the capacity will almost assuredly be increasing.

Nooo they are not sailing at 100%, its more like around 60% based on the max capacity the ship can hold

If they were able to book up you wouldnt see tons and tons of casino great offers and these low 1A solo rates.

Wait for sept and oct protocols to come out and I guarantee going to be a slew more cancellations. My vista roll call is just waiting and a lot might be asking for refunds.

Being allowed to increase capacity is different than able to. ..I dont know of any capacity constraints on these early cruises other than vaccinations. If they had plenty to fill these early sailings at full price they wouldnt be giving them away to gamblers somcheap.

Embarcation was a breeze.  No back ups at all.  Barely even stopped in a line for more than a few seconds.  No waiting to board because there was nobody coming off.  Able to go direct to rooms and drop stuff off.  Our time was 12:30-1:00.  Carnival shuttle got us there at 12:05.  Went right in.  Debarcation was just as easy.  Vista 7/3 - 7/10.
