Has Carnival explicitly come out and indicated no smoking inside the ship, anywhere? (it makes sense, if we're supposed to be masked).

Tom

One of the current sailings (Vista i believe) went into immediate mask wearing and also no smoking indoors (so, casino) yesterday. They also have positive cases on board.

Can we all just appreciate how badly Carnival screwed up this announcement?

The wording was vague as to what “3 days” before meant, IE: does embarkation day count as day 1 or day 0 in your math.

This is the difference between being able to test on Thursday or not for your cruise Sunday cruise.

And amidst this confusion, John Heald has posted one answer, and people’s PVPs are sending them a different answer!

What a mess!

Not only vague, indecisive.

Exactly when did a mask have to be worn indoors?

Exactly what mask is certified to be used?

Why is smoking not 100% stopped already?

They are too afraid to make a real decision. They need to grow a pair and step to the plate with real information.

Freakin unbelievable!!  We've been vaxxed and will even go along with the negative test requirement....but I have to draw the line at wearing masks...NO WAY!!  Our favorite part of cruising is..the entertainment, the dining and the casino....

Now Carnival is changing the rules and we will be penalized for cancelling??? This is ridiculous!!!

Exactly what happened to make them change this policy??  Was there an outbreak??

It would be a dream come true to eliminate smoking on board Carnival cruises!

The Paradise was short lived many years ago.  It seems like the gamblers, who are more prone to be smokers seem to be the major revenue generator on the ships and because of this fact, the Paradise did not meet the monetary expectations of the beards and no longer was a non smoking ship.

You will not be penalized for cancelling.  You can get a refund or you can flip your cruise to a future sailing.  Your OBC could stay the same, or could be reduced or could even increase if you book your 2022 cruise with the OV8 rate code, which gives you 200 in OBC per cabin.

There has been an outbreak, first of all a few people tested positive on the Vista yesterday and now masks are required on board.  In addition, the spikes all over the country over the last few weeks primarily because of the Delta variant has caused an uptick.  Major corporations as well as some major cities are now back pedaling and people need to mask up.  If this is not good enough for you, cancel, flip it or follow the new protocols.

Every revenue cruise on every cruise line has exceeded the 0.1% threshold that the CDC set to trigger monitoring. So far, none have gone red indicating the need to pull in early or receive additional medical assistance, but the CDC also has indicated the color updates may be delayed a day or two.

While we don't have numbers, plenty of reports of cruisers testing positive with quite a few showing symptoms. And yes, mostly in vaccinated individuals.

Carnival is ignoring or doesn't care about the main issue: availability of test appointments, for a Sunday sailing people don't have 3 days, they might have Thursday afternoon through Friday. This was an ignorant, careless, and uninformed decision on the part of Carnival to just push it on their passengers, if I were a first time cruiser I'd run for the hills.

Anytime a "real-time" decision is made, unfortunately some folks are going to get caught up in the scramble. Do you get that, six? Now is the time to test ones mettle and resiliency. Why don't you take the onus off of Carnival and put it on yourself, where it belongs. Maybe you can figure it out. Or, as a non first time cruiser, you can still run for the hills.

I’m on Vista. That is correct on this ship right now

How have the paxx taken to the mask wearing?    Understanding or angry?     Are people complying? Any changes when visiting ports?

Kind of odd that JH hasn’t had a video or post this morning. He’s usually doing a video 7-7:30 Miami time. It’s 9:30 now. wonder if there’s news he’s waiting to be finalized.

Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. do not = the entirety of the country or the world.  Even when I went to NOLA a couple of months ago, masks were required at most restaurants.  And I live in Texas and most people still wear masks here except for in the podunk, backwards towns.

Eli, I totally think your comment is rude and uncalled for.  I live in a podunk, backwards Texas town and proud of it.

Everyone seems understanding and are complying as far as I could see. There was one lady in the elevator this morning without a mask and carrying a pack of cigs who didn’t look happy at all. We just have Cozumel left (today). Same protocol at port-masks required inside and outside unless eating, drinking or in water

What do you mean by same protocol at port?  The Carnival protocol is much different than masks required inside and outside except when eating/drinking.

I mean that the protocols at the ports are the same as they have been through the whole cruise. Sorry I did not mean to confuse.

Understood, thanks! Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise.

And I'm just discovering that the rapid tests aren't available even at the CVS locations in our state. For the rapid test, Walgreen's says "results time varies". I thought getting tested would be the easy part - boy did I miss that one!  I had convinced myself to go ahead and cruise - even in a mask, which I shouldn't be doing as a vaccinated passenger, but that's a whole other rant - and now we can't find rapid testing sites.  Instead of moving the paid balance over, we will be cancelling.  May even do the same for our December cruise, as I can't see things improving enough for CCL to lift the testing/mask requirements by then.  Next one after that is April 2022, and that's 50/50 on improved sailing conditions.  Yes, Carnival - I would like a refund.

Not sure where you are located but have you tried local Walk in clinics - some people have said they got their tests there.

Well - she's the main recipient of (suffering from) her own attitude. She's not trying to make lemonade. It can be challenging for most of us occasionally. Sometimes I have to remind myself to sit back and reevaluate things - to get a better perspective.

If this is not good enough for you, cancel, flip it or follow the new protocols.

So, from what I've read, normal cancellation policies are still in place.  We are 37 days out, which puts us in a 50% refund pool.

Also, your last sentence...completely not necessary.  This is the sort of comment that start conflicts among posters here on CC.
