Perfect.  I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

My Dh is immune compromised and has been talking about getting himself a 3rd shot even though his doc hasn't said to do it yet.

I’m in love with my 3rd shot and we are 3 weeks into our honeymoon together. I had an RA flair with the first 2 shots but the 3rd one was smooth as silk. Maybe DH should arrange another consultation with his doctor or get a second opinion?

I'm not immune compromised but I follow vaccine data closely. I can tell you if I could get a Pfizer booster right now I'd do it in a heartbeat.

That’s what I got, Pfizer booster.

I am currently on the Vista and what has been reported regarding unmasked young children is 100% correct.  Rarely did I see a child that appeared under 12 masked.  I know we were delayed leaving Belize due to a medical evacuation, it was not stated if it was Covid related.  I will say while I have been very frustrated by the lack of mask enforcement for kids under 12.  I have been so impressed with the service staff, they are always masked, often double masked, cleaning surfaces constantly and following protocols seemingly meticulously.  These crew members are doing everything possible to make this work so they can support their families. At the same time some passengers think it’s too much to ask a kid to mask up in a pandemic.

Brew12 - THANK YOU 🙏🏻 very, very good point! We should all be double masking while on board socially distanced or not. Better to be safe than sorry.

we keep hearing different things from fauci mask, don't mask, double mask, wonder why we do not know what to do.

There are going to be people that have covid on every sailing, on every ship. 10 or 20 out of the entire ship is still under 1%. There are going to be people in the grocery stores that have it, on airplanes, in churches; my point is that its not going anywhere and if you're uncomfortable with 20 people on board a ship of 3000 testing positive for covid then you probably should cruise.

We were in Florida for a week in July and didn't come back with covid.  We drove out there and spent the majority of time outside.  I think a lot of people are probably getting infected when they are in airports and fly or use public transportation.  Just going to Florida doesn't make you get covid.  The delta variant will run its course everywhere.  Unless travel is halted EVERYWHERE, it's going to happen.  Buckle up and decide your risks.  It's like a wave.  The lockdown places aren't going to be able to keep it out.  It's a virus and will just hit those places eventually.

We've been to Florida twice during the pandemic and were fine both times. I agree with everything you posted here. Decide your risks because as long as theres a large population unwilling to get the vaccine this isnt going anywhere for awhile

Although that is possible, you must know by now based on all the media coverage that vaccinated adults still carry and transmit the virus based on this new Delta variant.  I guarantee you there are a significant number of vaxxed adults that picked up the virus and are on their way home to bring a special something to their community...

I have to argue that.  I was on the Breeze and rarely did I see a child inside that was not masked.  I did see a few, admittedly, but for the most part the kids (and their parents) were compliant.

Well you can surely state what you saw on the Breeze, I am confirming what I and others have stated happened on the Vista

I wouldn't be so quick to make that bet.  I went by a clinic to pick up something from a friend who works there.  I ask her about the antigen test that is now required for cruising.  We go to talking about testing in general and she told me that many of the ones they are testing with positive results are vaccinated individuals.  She also said that in early July her husband, who is vaccinated, started showing some lite symptoms.  It turned out he had Covid and gave it to her and the rest of the  family.  She mentioned working around it for over a year without getting it and then getting it from her vaccinated husband.  Lots of vaccinated people are getting Covid.  I have known several myself, so I certainly wouldn't make that bet.

I agree.  Delta is transmissible by vaxxed adults and I'd be willing to bet that most vaxxed adults stopped giving two s**ts about masking and some picked it up pre-cruise. Remember, unvaxxed kids needed to PCR test before the cruise, adults did not.

Can you confirm that they have announced that the remainder of the trip will be masked?

I would bet my house that it started from unvaxxed kids and passed to vaxxed passengers. If there are no symptoms on the vaxxed passengers, there is no need to even test them to find out. Carnival is about to face the nightmare they didn't want by having to be far more restrictive and far less enjoyable. I know my place of work just put out a travel warning. The biggest part is if traveling to any destination that is Level 3 or higher on the CDC list, you have to self quarantine for 10-days upon return. This just went into affect Monday. I got home from FL on Saturday. The entire US is at Level 3 and pretty much anywhere people would vacation. This means everyone traveling has to self quarantine after any vacation.

I am starting to worry out cruise in November is going to force us to cancel. Carnival still has a chance to get things right: No unvaxxed, no smoking at all, limit capacity, explicit directions on masks and masks that are certified. If they don't do it soon (this weekend or next), they could be facing a shutdown again.

Boozin, I will disagree with your assumption and take that house.  Remember, unvaxxed kids had to have a PCR test before cruising.  Vaxxed adults did not.  Vaxxed adults can still be infected by and transmit the delta variant.  I think the odds are in favor of several or more vaxxed adults picking up the variant and bringing it onboard vs the kids who -- in my experience -- tend to follow the guidelines in their communities and mask up as required.

I think as time goes on, more people will get vaccinated.  At this point, if an adult is unwilling to get the vaccination and gets covid, then that's the risk they took.  If people travel with their young children and the family ends up with covid, that's the risk they took.  I've advised my extended family with young children to hold off going to crowded places until next year.   I am actually surprised that so many people are traveling with young kids right now with the delta variant surging.  Their choice and their risk though.

Yes the Captain stated that masks are required indoors in entertainment venues and when entering and leaving dining areas  and I believe the casino.

have to wear a mask to throw the bones in the casino, that's ok, as long as we are on a cruise.

Thank you 🙏🏻 yes, not too long ago I was getting heat on here from a lot of people for saying that even though I was vaccinated I would choose to mask up once on board to protect other passengers who could be immune compromised like myself and I was being told that I didn’t trust the vaccine and I should just stay home. I tried to point out that it was still possible to get COVID even vaccinated and that the data was not clear about transmission of covid from a vaccinated person. I took a lot of heat, and yet here we are. I bet the same people giving me crap a couple of months ago are the ones canceling now because they are vaccinated and don’t want to mask up. I on the other hand as well as many others made the decision months ago to take extra mitigation measures despite Carnival not mandating them at the time because I have a responsibility to myself and fellow passengers to try not to have our cruise disrupted. I got a 3rd dose, I have my masks packed, I’m sailing alone, driving to port, been in self isolation (I live alone/work from home), and always planned to social distance once on board as much as humanly possible.

Just a quick question…you said you got a third dose, how did you do that? I am also interested in getting a booster but it is not available yet.  Just wondering if I missed a way to get the 3rd shot?

I'm just going to plead with you.... i.f you don't have N95 masks and can't socially distance, please make sure to double mask.

You are brave to be traveling right now with an immune system issue, even being vaccinated.

Are N95 masks even available to the general public now? Last time I checked, Amazon wasn't selling them to anybody, except hospitals, health care providers, first responders, etc.  I'd love to get my hands on a dozen. I have the KN95 masks, but no N95 one's.

I knew they wouldn’t enforce masks for the unvaccinated. Now we all have to wear them. They should’ve gone 100% vaccinated.

And now my 100% vaxxed Alaskan cruise is stuck with masks too.  This blows.

Since your 100% vaccinated cruise has to wear masks, then it's definitely not due to the children who cruised out of other ports.  It's because vaccinated people are getting the virus too.  Although, I don't think it's a big deal for vaccinated people to get it, apparently many people think it's worth bringing back masks for everyone.

My brother owns a therapy company (physical, speech, occupational, etc.) at a retirement community with independent living, regular apartments, and assisted living.  They had 8 vaccinated residents test positive recently.  None got seriously sick (whereas previously it probably would have been a death sentence for some of the 80+ crowd, or at least a hospitalization), but several were positive and had cold-like symptoms. The Delta variant is more contagious and the vaccines are not as good at completely protecting people. That's what happens when you get mutations.  There is no way to know if it came from an unvaccinated kid or guest. It could have come from a vaccinated guest with only mild symptoms or asymptomatic.  That's why the masking and testing is coming back into play.  They are all tools.  None is 100 percent.

Speak with you doctor! For high risk individuals there are doctors who are willing to provide boosters.
