To all of you who were able to get the Moderna booster I have a question. How did you manage to get it. I am 80, my 2nd Moderna jab was in Feb. I have COPD and my pharmacist tells me that he can not yet give the Moderna boosters. Ha has them available but is apparently awaiting clearance from the CDC.

Todays meal with today's wine sound lovely as long as someone else does the cooking.

The photos from Boston are lovely. Thank you for posting. I have not seen lace curtains in houses since I was a young child.

Getting my Covid test tomorrow and hopefully will be on the ship Sunday.

First of all with COPD you should be elegible but you are also over 65 so I'm not sure why your pharmacist needs to wait.  Try calling a different pharmacy and asking if you are eligible.  Could be a misunderstanding of the latest info from the CDC.

Also, in Washington State, they aren't calling the Moderna a 'booster' but a 3rd shot.....that might get you one.  Hubby & I both got ours calling them 3rd shots.

To clarify, it is my understanding that it may be a week or so before the Moderna booster is approved for general use.  For immunocompromised persons, the VA is offering a third dose of he Moderna shot.  It is not the same as a booster as it is half the dosage of a regular shot.  We also got our 2nd Moderna shot in February and are just waiting for the booster to be available.  I could probably get the 3rd shot as I am somewhat immune compromised due to leukemia, but I plan to wait until both I and my DW can get the booster.

Yesterday we both got our flu shots at the Navy base here.  Slight tenderness, but no big deal.

I used to worry about my hair cut and style.  No more.  I get my haircuts at our local submarine base.  Ask for number two on top and number one on the sides.  That is about a quarter inch on top and shaved on the sides.  Works for me.

Thank you everyone for the concern for my DH.  It is appreciated.  Our (young) doctor has never come across post polio syndrome, and will do some research, and hopefully find a doctor who has experience with PPS.  In the meantime, we are hoping physio will help.

@rafinmd  Thank you for having DH on the Care list.  He is okay, and you can take him off the list.  Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.

@smitty34877Your family is certainly having its issues.  Positive thoughts headed out to your family dealing with Covid, and your DGD with broken wrists.  Did you actually remember how to cook for just 2?  LOL

@ger_77Enjoy the time with your grandchildren.

Here is some information on boosters for Moderna and J&J vaccines.   https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/coronavirus/moderna-jj-booster-shots-when-the-fda-could-make-a-decision/2629046/  As @USN59-79 said, approval may come next week.  The boosters should not be given without the FDA approval.

My nephew's 3 kids have all tested positive for COVID.  My nephew is having symptoms, but has so far tested negative.  His wife has also tested negative.  The kids seem to have mild cases.

We think one of the older kids brought it home from school.  Although they wear masks, they are among only a handful that do.  There was a kid in class that was coughing up a storm and the teacher sent him to the office to go home.  He was back the next day, still coughing.  They think he is the one who started it.  The teacher is also out with COVID.   The district says they are doing all they can, but won't enact a mask mandate.

Thanks to all for the posts and safe travels for those able to travel. We are enjoying another week in Kona. During our 2 days last week at home, we were able to walk into Vons (Safeway) for our 3rd Pfizer and our annual flu shot before a quick weekend trip to AZ. Thanks to DD’s mother and father in law, we are staying at one of their timeshares in Kona. They are also here this week and will host them tonight for bbq and good conversation. Thankful!

A late in the day post:  I walked to school in Michigan from kindergarten thru 8th grade.  When it was cold and the wind blew, I walked backwards, which may explain why I traded Michigan for Florida.  My hair was brown and would naturally become blondish in the summer sun as a young man, and I got teased about it.  Now I am basically bald and free, and get the usual tease for being bald, so guess I can't win.  It does save time getting ready and is easy to cool off by splashing water on your head to cool down in my adopted warm state.

I've never been to Brest, but many of the other coastal cities in France.

See the Nieuw Statendam is still in Ft Lauderdale/Port Everglades.  Probably being prepped for next month's return to service.

Reminds me of my college days in Binghamton, NY, walking to everything, class, dining hall and all,  on some pretty rough winter days.

The Moderna vaccine is not yet approved for a booster shot, but can be given as a "3rd" shot for the immuno-compromised, which is how I got it. I think it will be approved shortly as a booster.

@dfish Sorry to hear of your nephew's kids with Covid. It's hard in schools with no mask mandate, especially as the delta variant is so easily passed on.

I am thankful I don't have to go into the schools today.  As my sister (the grandma) said, it is the job of the adults to protect the kids and the schools aren't doing it.

This may be a strange request but if you get a chance stop in the Casino and say Hi to Casino Host Chris.  He won't know me but I've been following his blogs from the beginning.  I'm more into Crystal and HAL but my favorite RCI ships are the Vision and Radiance classes.

Roy

I also have been following Chris's vlog. He is from the same area of England where I grew up. Did see him last night and we had a nice conversation, will let him know you're following.

I mostly cruise Royal at the moment as the ports are convenient. My husband has several medical issues and is essentially confined to a mobility scooter after not so successful back surgeries. I retired late 2019 and had planned  3 cruises on HAL with great itineraries from Port Everglades. The SA circumnavigation is hopefully in our future. Looking forward to seeing more BHB in So Flo soon.

@St Pete Cruiser, I see on HALfacts that you have stayed in room 1067 on the Z'dam.  I am curious if there was any noise from BB King in that room.

Thanks

We really liked 1067.  I don't recall any noise from the BB King there.  It was the best room I ever had for ease of getting on and off in ports where we were docked.  What cruise are you looking at for the Zuiderdam?

We enjoyed the ferry and seeing Ocracoke in June.

Thanks!  We are currently in that room for the 2024 world cruise.

Glad to hear you paid Ocracoke a visit!
