Breaking news……

We have diverted course to assist a vessel in distress

Rescue operations are underway now.

Our current location

Rescue boats and rafts now in the water.  It appears to be a large yacht

Hey, don’t get me off here too early!!!   I still have today, and tomorrow because of the late flight.

I was actually thinking it was Sunday when I wrote that. You can read it again tomorrow.☺

Following up on the rescue operation.

Everyone from the yacht was brought aboard.  They now have to meet a coast guard vessel sometime during the night, and transfer those rescued to that vessel.

Shortly after they brought the people aboard, all the lights in the yacht went out.

Evidently, it must have been taking on water.  The captain announced the yacht would likely sink by morning.

A few more pictures of the operation

I don’t believe it was the yacht that was in trouble. We think the yacht was the first to assist and that it was a very small sailboat that they were assisting. That is the vessel they left to sink.

Whew that's good. If it was the yacht that was sinking I can't imagine the amount of money that would be. I bet that made for an exciting evening!

That makes more sense.  When the captain said they brought 5 people aboard, I thought that would have a larger number of people on it.

Now, after that slight diversion, back to our regular programming.

Our last dinner at sea seemed much like our first one.  Before dinner, I continued with my lime and coconut cup collection and made sure there were no upside down pineapples here.

I got so distracted during the evening, I forgot we had to check in for or flights back home.  I usually set a reminder timer on my phone, but hadn’t done it.

I just happened to pick up my phone just as SW sent a reminder to check in.  So now we are in a late B boarding group.

Two70 had a Halloween bash going on, and quite a few onboard had costumes.

This was the point when the captain announced we were diverting to assist, and everyone was trying to find good vantage spots.

We had started on top of the bridge wings, then both sides of deck 5, as well as our cabin.

But eventually, we had to pack and get our suitcases out by 10.  We made it just in time.

I guess it must be Sunday morning.  These boards don’t tell you anything, but how late you will be getting off the ship.

This may answer the age old question for some people, if they can make a 10:00 flight!!

We are sailing by Miami now

Looks like all departure times are pushed back an hour.

It is 6:30 am, and I am relaxing on the balcony with a latte.

The pilot boat just arrived

The dropped the pilot and headed for shore.

We have been on 5G or LTE along the shoreline.

So much nicer than the ship internet.

one thing about how they do departure now.  You can get your breakfast, then they want you to wait in your cabin until your departure group is called.

I couldn’t believe there were three self assist people in line when I went down for lattes around 6am.   They have a long wait.

WE met up with one family who normally cruise on Carnival , and the husband constantly commented on how much time the crew spent keeping the pool area clean, sweeping and wiping.  He said the they never do that on the Carnival cruises.  He was impressed.

Mark - Micheline is hooked on a new show called The Laundry Guy.  He does some pretty amazing things to clothes (usually sentimental) that most would consider beyond repair.  If you have Discovery+, you can watch an episode about getting soot stains out of a wedding dress:

"The Laundry Guy" Smoke Stains, Spilled Drinks (TV Episode 2021) - IMDb

I haven't watched it so I'm not sure what he does.

I'm sure people have their reasons but I can't help thinking I would hate to do this.

Thanks very much for bringing us along. I have enjoyed your cruise tremendously. Safe travels home.
