Edge Iconic Suite- Anyone With Personal Experience?

Hi - wondering if anyone with personal experience in sailing in Iconic Suite would be willing to share their experiences.  Happy to connect via email.  Have seen the professional reviews and travel agent videos, but would love to connect with someone here who has actually sailed in the IC.  TIA

We sailed in the Iconic Suite on Edge in October. We have also sailed in Penthouse Suites and Royal Suites on almost every Celebrity ship except the Apex.

We sailed in Royal Suites on M and S class ships and Penthouse Suites on S and E class ships (our M class cruise in the Penthouse was cancelled but we have one in 2023).  I was surprised that the PH on Edge did not have a whirlpool or hot tub on the balcony, on the other classes there is one. We put in a move up offer for the PH on Edge because we did not like the size of the balcony in the RS. We like RS on S class, not so much on M class because there is only one bathroom.  

 

Service in all of the suites has been great.

Does anybody know if they still do the pre-cruise call/email with the concierge for their high level suites?  If so, how far in advance of your sailing should you expect to be contacted?

They did for my Alaska sailing (RS on the Millennium) last August. Although they got most of our specialty dining mixed up and had to be fixed by our butler onboard.  Also enjoyed being met at dock and escorted onto the ship. I think I got tired of waiting for the call and called them about 3 weeks before.

RS on Sunday.  Got an email from the shoreside concierge Monday morning so 6 days in advance.

It's a huge suite--literally more square footage than my house--and our butler was absolutely fantastic. Way more space than anyone needs, honestly. Though I would note that the beds can't be separated in either bedroom, so you're still limited to couples or adults willing to share. Shoreside concierge offered a rollaway when they realized it was me and my aunt sharing a bed, but the beds are huge--we didn't mind at all. My cousin was on the sofa bed, for which they provided an egg crate topper. Though I found the mattresses a bit too hard for my taste, my aunt was comfortable so I didn't ask for an egg crate myself.

The butler pantry is super nice to have because it has a full fridge and even a small freezer, plus the sink and Lavazza espresso pod machine. We frequently spent afternoons on the balcony since it's so large; we'd usually go up to the Retreat Sundeck in the morning (giving our excellent room steward time to clean--you can't be in the room or balcony when they're working due to covid protocols), come back to our room for lunch delivered by our butler, then spend the afternoons on our balcony. We didn't use the jacuzzi much, but our butler filled it for us ahead of time whenever we told him we might use it. Dirt came out of the jets at one point, though. The views are unparalleled. We left the curtains open a lot, obviously. It was admittedly fun to prank others in a different room by controlling them or the lights or TV via the app 😉 

We were in the port suite and there was no noise at all from being next to Luminae. I assume something must've been between the 2nd bedroom and the restaurant, to not ever hear a peep.

I will say that we spent so much time in the room that we didn't feel like we really even saw much of the ship. I suppose that's a trade-off. We were also pushed toward specialty dining since it was included for us, because Luminae was absolutely overwhelmed many nights. We sailed well below capacity but The Retreat was full, and Luminae was often crowded.

They do; when you're contacted might vary. In my recent experience it's been about a month out, except for the one time we won a move-up bid and it was less than 2 weeks out. People have told me it can be about a week or two out even if you're not doing move-up, though.

While we loved penthouse on edge , I was disappointed in balcony since you couldn’t get any sun, we are in royal suite again on summit in 9 days, love that balcony.

I would hate the idea right now of paying for an Iconic suite and then testing positive for COVID onboard and being sent into isolation.  They don't allow you to stay in your suite.

How often do they test onboard ? I know we got tested two days before, but were not tested after that.

They don't test onboard unless there is a reason.  You self report or you are identified as a close contact of another passenger or crew who has tested positive.

Yes they do contact you about 2 weeks prior to sailing.  For the upper suites they usually contact you both by email to introduce themselves and also call you.    You can also call them if you have a special requirement.   As you would expect some are more attentive than others.

I wonder how long that will stay that way seeing as they are now starting to roll back restrictions onboard? They won’t be able to hit full capacity as long as they are moving passengers to other cabins. This is one of the biggest barriers right now for those who feel reluctant about cruising. If they changed that rule and allowed people to quarantine in their own cabin (like they do with noro cases) then it might help bookings increase for 2022 sailings.

If you go to Medical voluntarily with symptoms.  Or if you get knowingly or unknowingly caught up in a contact trace protocol if you were near somebody who tested positive on board.  Or in a B2B situation.
