Another policy of theirs which talks about covering the cost of travel home.  Again, it doesn't specifically say "private" but it certainly talks about them covering the cost to get you home.

cel-covid-19-cancellations-and-refunds-policy.pdf (celebritycruises.com)

Here is the wording specific to that topic:

"If you test positive for COVID-19 during the voyage, Celebrity will: • cover the cost of necessary COVID-19 related medical treatment onboard the ship; • coordinate and cover the costs of any required land-based quarantine for you and members of your Traveling Party; and • coordinate and cover the costs of travel arrangements to get you and members of your Traveling Party back home"

I feel that Celebrity should have strictly enforced it for the first day which was a sea day and made an example of anyo e not complying by disembarking them in Costa Maya.  That would have set the tone that Celebrity is taking our safety seriously.

On our Summit cruise, there were two under 12 kids with their moms who seemed to take the mask rule (unvaccinated people had to wear them on board).  They were talked to by the retreat concierge, the suite manager, and guest services.  I thought they should have been removed in Cozumel and banned for life.  Maybe that's just me.

We are also onboard with you and are also in a suite.  Make sure your DW makes use of the Retreat host or concierge’s if she needs anything at all.  They are a fabulous resource

Being onboard and also eating in Luminae I would like to join the others thanking you for doing the right thing and getting checked out.

I still can’t believe the very small minority who are not respecting the mask rules.  Last night I walked through the casino and there was a guy playing Blackjack with no mask on at all.

They absolutely 100% should enforce the masking policy, and by masking policy I also mean wearing it correctly, over the nose and mouth.  One can argue if it makes sense to have the policy or not.  But the bottom line is, if that is the policy then it needs to be enforced.  They should do what they did to a balcony neighbor of ours on a recent cruise, who refused to abide by the smoking policies.  They told them once.  They put it in writing as a second warning when they still continued to smoke.  And if they had still continued to smoke (which they did not) they were going to be disembarked at the next port.   I know they have done that before - on the infamous spring break Connie cruise several years ago they kicked off a few college kids who were abusing the drinking rules and breaking deck furniture in the process. Left them high and dry in Cozumel.  I'll bet that was an interesting phone call to their parents!

The if required asterisk text was adde about a month and a half ago.

Which is really unfair to those of us who booked cruises under the safety promises at the time.  I'm not sure I would have booked had I known they were going to change this.  They should be forced to abide by what they promised at the time of booking.

This just means that they will help you make reservations or changes to existing arrangements in addition to covering the costs. They are still getting you home, but only after quarantine if required, which they are also paying for. The difference is a matter of time.

The language about private planes is in the Safe Travel Home section, but it has been amended to say only if medically necessary.

Oops, left out some important words.  they seem to take the mask rule (...) as a suggestion.

Are you allowed to use your balcony? Read on the Royal board where someone was quarantined in a balcony cabin and guest services called them when they detected the balcony door being open. Told them they couldn't go outside on the balcony. Sorry this is happening to you.

Actually I think they were told not to leave the door open.  They could go out, but they needed to shut the door.

You seem to have forgotten there's a pandemic which means a very fluid situation in terms of regulations. If you can't accept that you should stay home.

Yes, that makes sense. If they are moving you off the ship to quarantine somewhere then yes, they need to cover the cost of you having to rebook your flights and all the expenses that are incurred with that.

Yes, I will be refunded the prorated fare for the remainder of the cruise, my wife will be refunded for her 24 h in quarantine if she tests negative again tomorrow, the remainder if she tests positive.

Did they upgrade your wifi? How's the food? Can you also get mixed drinks or just beer and wine? Is it limited to the $9 max?

Sorry you got hit by this virus.

Yep, Wi-Fi was upgraded to Stream. I can order from all room service menus, and from the a la carte menus as well, and the food from Luminae tastes great. Unfortunately though everything is served in paper takeaway boxes with plastic one-time use cutlery, which sort of diminishes the whole experience.

So far my appetite hasn’t been great, so it hasn’t really been a problem though.

I am pretty sure I can order mixed drinks if I want, but again - they will be served in paper cups.

Day 2 of isolation. Thankfully my wife tested negative again and was released from quarantine.

My throat is a little less sore today, but still having the typical covid dry cough.

Room service breakfast took about an hour to arrive, later in the morning it knocked on the door and a full set of clean linen and towels were delivered. Also some tea and instant coffee, which is nice. The cabin has a kettle (water boiler), so I won’t have to wait for room service for coffee.

A nurse comes around in the morning and checks temperature, pulse and O2-saturation.

All in all doing well, but slightly bored.

Sounds like Connie is handling the medical aspect in much better fashion than Equinox did recently.  Don't know if corporate becoming aware of the Equinox fiasco has caused improvement fleetwide or if Equinox was an aberration, but very happy to know they're keeping tabs on you on Connie.

Curious..  you say they "delivered" "clean linen".  Are they actually coming in to make up the bed, or just delivering it for you to install?

I think it's that clear plastic bag in the photo above your post.

Suspect you're right.  Blows up one of the big 3 reasons for cruising...  Don't have to cook, don't have to clean, don't have to make the bed!  (4, if in an upper suite and you throw in not doing laundry!) 😄

No need to be insulting.  Of course I know there is a pandemic.  And I expect changes to ports, schedules, etc..  I also expect changes to things like requiring masking onboard.  But the commitments they make at the time of your booking should be held to for your cruise.  There is a big difference between regulations and commitments.  If they can't keep those commitments due to the pandemic,  which I am well aware of, then they should offer you the option to cancel your cruise without penalty and get your money back.

Respectfully, they are still getting you home, and they are still paying for everything. You just aren't getting the private jet unless it is medically necessary.

The staff won’t enter our cabins, so all interactions are in the hallway or by the open door. Food and drinks etc are left on a table in the hallway, and I put out my trash in special “biohazard” trash bags.

So no, no cleaning or services inside the cabin I’m afraid.

Makes sense.  Less chance of passing the bug to crew.

If you're getting plastic flatware, might try asking for one real metal set that you could wash up in the sink after meals.  We had some fork cuttable meat on our recent Connie cruise, but we weren't trying to use plastic forks!

I asked earlier for a set of real cutlery and a wine glass to keep in the cabin and wash myself, I’ve been told by guest relations that “it’s an ongoing discussion” whether they’re allowed to give it to me or not, so we’ll see how it plays out.

On the Equinox someone found some real glasses in the bathroom cupboard to enjoy their drinks in, not sure if the Constellation rooms have that or if they removed them.

Maybe your wife can smuggle a fork to you - tucked in a book, wrapped in a Tshirt, with some candy bars? She puts everything in a bag with your room number on it and ask that it be dropped off at your door.

Yeah, I read that before being moved to the red zone, so I searched high and low, but no such luck. I think they probably had more time to prepare all the cabins in the zone thoroughly  now.

Didn’t you read the contact you agreed to before boarding it States they can change anything about your cruise, and you agreed to abide by it.

you should really those contacts in the future.
