Celebrity Apex suites worth the price

Is the suites worth the money on Celebrity Apex

One needs to look and see what the options are at various cabin/suite levels.  After you do that, come back and ask questions.  Only you can decide if it is worth it for you.

For people to give you worthwhile answers you need to give a little more information. What's important for you on a cruise? What do you do on a cruise? What's the destination you're considering? How important are alcoholic drinks to you? What type of dining are you interested in? Do you enjoy spending time out sunning on the decks?

If you can afford it yes!  The retreat alone is worth it!  We enjoy the extra level of service in Luminae.  If you can, go for it.

I read about wealthy 90 year olds sailing in inside cabins that have money.  I think a mistake as life is short and at 90 how much time is really left for most.  Be pampered and enjoy.

We enjoy aft Sky Suites. The value is there for us. I'm not a main ding room fan so Luminae is a hit. We like the premium drink package as well as the Retreat Lounge. We spend more time in the Retreat Lounge than the Suite Lounge on Royal Caribbean. The butler service is great.

That said, we upgraded to a Royal Suite on Summit on our last cruise. No aft Royal suites. Never used the hot tub on the balcony. I never finished my choice of liquor for the room and my wife never opened hers. We never took full advantage of the dining package because we liked Luminae. It was still a great cabin and great cruise but the extra amenities weren't as valuable to us. Others may disagree.

Next Celebrity cruise is Apex in an aft S1. First time on an Edge Class so my opinion might change.

When I was looking at fares weeks ago from our upcoming 2/26 APEX cruise, I priced out a Veranda and Sky Suite for comparison.  Using "apples to apples" I added the "Indulge package" to the Veranda fare to make things more equitable.

I'll say up front, pricing on this cruise was crazy and still is.  Some SIMPLY SAIL fares in any given category were higher than ALL INCLUDED fares.

But, bottom line, there was a $200 delta between a Veranda Cabin and an S3 Sky Suite in the Retreat at the time.  To me, that's a no brainer.

Plus, since then, my fare dropped $800 AND I was able to upgrade to an S2 for the same price as an S3.  I'll have some chips to hit the casino with.  Plus, the GF can go shopping on board, as a result.

It all depends on the pricing.  It's worth it to a point but not to overpay for what they're really offering.  Some of the pre-pandemic pricing was ridiculous but there are currently better deals to be had now versus then.  But, as noted above, that doesn't hold true for every sailing.

We take home the Burbon we get in the royal suite- on the s class royal suites.  Wrap in the bathrobes in place in our suit case- We get beautiful bathrobes to take home in a Royal suite and above on the S class ships.n Or have in the past- sailing in a Royal suite again in about a month on the Reflection.  Hope we also get the beautiful robes. Didn't realize you cannot carry on the airplane.  Love the s2 and s1 on the apex.  The retreat is fabulous and makes the cruise so special.  Love luminae also.  Of course not a Royal suite!

I totally agree.  Our very first suite was last August on Equinox (S1), then December on Reflection in a Signature Suite.  We each used the jacuzzi on balcony only once, and we only drink beer & wine so the 2-bottle offer was lost on us.  Having free specialty dining was great, but I’d rather use my OBC’s on it and do it 3 or 4 times.  The March 19 Apex will be our first Edge class back to a Sky Suite, and I’m very confused about the dining venues.  Need to access menus, opinions of people who have already sailed her.  So far, I’ve only booked the Steakhouse for the first night.

In October the Apex provided monogramed PJ’s for RS and higher instead of the robes.

Here is a thread from a couple of weeks ago that addresses this exact question for APEX if you are interested.

I read their review- but do not agree with them.  IMO the retreat is so worth it!  The retreat sun deck is wonderful.  As are all of the perks.  No comparison to an infinite veranda stateroom which imo is small and because no true balcony, claustrophobic.  The Apex bathrooms are great in a sky suite.

Good to know!  March 19 will be our first cruise on E Class (Apex). Loved the Reflection and Equinox this past year, but on Retreat Sun Deck (Equinox anyway) there was no bar, or bathroom, and no pool..  Never even checked out the one on Reflection.  So we’re going with a Sky Suite, as I’m SURE I wouldn’t like those infinite verandas.  We like to sit outside at night and watch the stars and the ocean go by, as we enjoy our nightcap. To each his own, but I asked a crew member on the Reflection in December how people who liking those infinite verandas…..he said they weren’t. Now, they’re building a 4th one I heard?  Did you do any Specialty Dining on Apex?  What do you recommend?  So far, I’ve only booked the Steakhouse for the first night, but I’m looking to do maybe 3 more.

Can't speak to specialty dining on Apex since I'm not sailing until week after next.

Can't be too dissimilar to the EDGE, though.

Loved...LOVED EDEN!  Did Raw on 5, too.  Good, but not nearly as good as EDEN.

Had drinks at the Retreat Bar by the pool during sunset.  Nice way and place to see the sunset.  Plus, if we were hanging around the pool and/or loungers, the waitstaff were readily available to keep us hydrated.

Robes were in our cabin closet.  I don't recall using them, though.  Just as easy to throw on a pair of shorts or swimwear.

We don't wear PJs, though. 😉

I was wondering if the menu in Eden was too bizarre, although we love fine dining.  Your recommendation is pushing my toward it.  Thank you.  As for Raw on 5, we always have lunch in Sushi on 5 (Silhouette, Equinox, Reflection) on embarkation day and love it, so we thought we’d do it on this one as well.  Question:  Is the Magic Carpet part of Raw on 5 at certain times?  I thought that was used for embarkation.  Then I read that they serve sushi there.  Can you enlighten me?

You should be able to see the dining menus on the App..

The Magic Carpet moves. This info is from CruiseMapper.com:

A unique feature of the Celebrity Edge class ships is the Magic Carpet - a glass structure (glass-roofed, cantilevered platform) the size of a tennis court, able to traverse 14 stories, like a large elevator. Mounted on the ship's starboard side, the open-air Magic Carpet offers stunning ocean views, comfortable seating, full bar, a stage for live music performance., This "traveling venue" changes its theme, function, and location by extending from Deck 2 up to Deck 16. The Magic Carpet's repositioning schedule is published daily.

In each location, the "moving lounge" is safely locked, then guests are allowed to step onboard. Some of its furniture is fixed.

The structure re-positions and transforms into a new venue depending on which deck it is on:

  • When positioned on Deck 16 (above pool deck), it becomes a specialty restaurant offering the unique “Dinner on the Edge" al-fresco dining under the stars.

  • When positioned on Resort Deck 14 (in front of the cabanas), it becomes an extension of the pool deck area, also offering live music performances.

  • When positioned on Dining Deck 5, it becomes a specialty restaurant with alfresco dining.

  • When positioned on Tendering Deck 2, it becomes an extension of the Destination Gateway (embarkation station serving ship's tender operations). Destination Gateway boarding area is dedicated to the so-called "Edge Launches" - luxurious passenger tendering ashore, providing seamless embarkation and disembarkation in all ports of call along the cruise itinerary. This spacious area is fitted with large LCD screens (displaying destination, itinerary and port highlights), comfortable seating (capacity 130 seats), air-conditioning.

"Destination Getaway" is a dedicated embarkation point when the platform is positioned at its lowest level (Tendering Deck 2).

I know I had to walk through Raw on 5 to get to the Magic Carpet when it was stationary on Deck 5.  I don't recall them offering to allow the food from Raw on 5, though.  Could be no one was dining when I was on the Magic Carpet.

But, it was my favorite bar, so I was there a lot and never saw anyone with food.

They did not allow guests on the Magic Carpet when it was moving from deck to deck.  There was a schedule letting guests know what deck it would be on at any given time.

It really didn't change its decor or demeanor. It was always the same, just stopped at different decks.

Is Eden adventurous?  Maybe.  I've eaten quail, alligator, snake, etc.  So, compared to those delicacies, EDEN was tame.  Great venue, overlooking the aft of the ship watching the wake.  Plus, the kitchen is visible to all.  Just a cool dining venue with really good food and service.

YOU SOLD ME!  We’ll try it.  Sounds like an experience not to be missed.  If we don’t like the food……oh well.  Sounds like fun.  Thanks!

And I’m pretty sure that will turn out to be one of my DH’s favorite bars as well.

100% concur on EDEN!
