You should check again, though, they typically don't offer these types of deals if you already have something booked within the time frame of the offer period. Got the OV8 code for 200 of OBC for the cabin. That's a drop in the bucket compared to the plethora of under 100 pp deals. And I'm not even counting the rock bottom deals that the gamblers get. I've never seen anything that cheap, and we don't gamble more than $10 in a quarter machine. Great deals! We also got a balcony on the 7-day Panorama for $212 per person. Great deal! Not as good as free, but I never get the free cruise offers.

Rare Eli_6 Posted February 28, 2022 #32 Share Posted February 28, 2022 The $0 for inside, $10 for OV, $20 for a balcony, $160 for a suite are all casino offers. However, you don't have to gamble much to get them, but you do have to have gambled on your room key at some point. I also figured out (when my husband kept getting casino offers and I didn't even though I gambled more than him) that whose credit card was linked to the room seems to matter. I fixed this by linking my on board account to my credit card for my next cruise and now I get casino offers, too.

When I was in the hot tub on the Panorama, I conversed with somebody who claimed they received four back-to-back cruises, and $1000 obc. She said she had no idea… she hardly gambled or anything like that. Every time I cut through the the casino to get to the restaurant, guess who I saw? And the cocktail waitress would automatically bring her drinks… She probably got "drinks on us" while playing in the casino.
Rare Eli_6 Posted February 28, 2022 #34 Share Posted February 28, 2022 Also, I don't think it has anything to do with demographics. I think it has to do with the casino. My 76 year old mother who has been on one cruise (that I paid for) gets casino offers. She is on a limited income. My husband is a physician and I am an attorney (both in our 40s) and we get casino offers. We have been on many cruises. Our nanny who is in her 30s and also been on one cruise also gets casino offers. One lady I spoke with said her 18 year old son who gambled in the casino behind her back now gets them. I don't think you understand demographics. Those who ever gamble is a demographic. Those who gamble above a certain amount is a demographic. Those who eat meat is a demographic. Those who are male is a demographic, etc. A demographic is any characteristic that can be identified in a population.
Guest BasicSailor Posted February 28, 2022 #36 Share Posted February 28, 2022 Are the $0/$20 last minute deals normal, or a COVID thing? I think it's, Let's get these ships up and on the high seas before our asses goes Bankrupt.

I have an undergraduate degree in marketing. You can mince my words any way you like, but the point is they are giving out these offers (which are all CASINO offers) based on your casino play and nothing else. Not age. Not income. Not education level.

How do I tell why? The Mrs. got the same offers ($0, $10, $20, $150) as me also and she hasn't gambled while cruising yet, I don't think anyway 🤔. It may be something more than simply gambling only, who knows? It did help with my pitch that we should add in another quick trip for her birthday but the scheduling just didn't work. The low rates sound great but aren't really "free" after trip insurance, tips, tax/fees and it being near impossible not to have onboard spend (that would be a boring trip). The free/ low prices were helpful in raising interest though and making me even consider something I wasn't even considering, so I guess they worked as intended lol. sgttami Posted February 28, 2022 #42 Share Posted February 28, 2022 I've been cruising for the past 7 years on casino offers that vary greatly but mostly just pay for taxes and port charges. Some are DOU in casino and others are DOU everywhere. Most include casino free play that has varied from $100 - $1000 and OBC as well. It's the reason I stick with Carnival (LOL)
Savlamara Posted March 1, 2022 #43 Share Posted March 1, 2022 I got the free cabin offer and I haven’t cruised on Carnival since 2018 (we took a break to cruise on Royal Caribbean and then Covid hit). I had 17 cruises from 2 to 8 days offered in my VIFP account. Ocean views were $5/10/20 per person.
OhioScubaGirl Posted March 1, 2022 #44 Share Posted March 1, 2022 My VIFP account has some short cruises in the next month for $25-30 inside. I haven’t been on a cruise in awhile and don’t gamble.

jsglow Posted March 1, 2022 #47 Share Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) We decided to book our 'free' cruise today. For an hour I was crazy busy getting all the way from initial booking with my PVP to boarding pass. No where near our record in terms of fewest days until cruising. Still 6 days out. We plan to simply relax. Edited March 1, 2022 by jsglow
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted March 1, 2022 #48 Share Posted March 1, 2022 Not sure about last-minute deals, never look for them. But if you play in the casino, free and almost-free deals have been happening for me since my second cruise with Carnival, in 2013.

We also like vacationing in the Caribbean in early December. Historically, this has always been one of the cheapest times (beat out only by Sept/Oct but then you have the hurricane risk). No idea if $0 cruises will still be happening then but if you want to book last minute you will probably be able to get a good deal.

How do I tell why? All of the $0 offers (rate code P0Y) I suddenly received after my last cruise vanished at the end of February (as they stated they would), and were only for cruises through late March. Alas, I couldn't pull the trigger so soon after that last cruise...where I ran my card for $10 in the Cash Crane machine, and another $10 in the "Cash Cube" machine (won $2,500). $20 total, but I've never gotten a $0 offer before (and might never get one again 🙂 ). I got the "010" offer specifically stating "Players Club" a few days ago, but those deals aren't quite as good ("from $75/pp").
