Wait...what???  🍷

First sighting was in 2019.

One too many negative in that sentence, but I get what you are saying.  Back before Covid, Disney employed character actors to roam around its Hollywood Studios Theme Park.  They were called "Streetmosphere" performers.  Interactive equity actors who set the mood, tone  and theme of the park by joking with the guests.  People loved them and were sad to see them laid off when the park re-opened.  Did they accomplish anything?  No, other than creates some harmless fun for the guests.  I think that Princess is trying to capture this same feeling, but obviously most people here aren't buying in.

Some people here are against any changes, especially those that violate the decorum of cruises back in the day. Any attempt to inject a little fun is resisted by these humorless cruisers.

So true.....no wonder Princess is known as the cruise line for "Fuddy Duddy's".  I think these complaining passengers would like it if it Princess just had a theme regarding their ships across the fleet of being more like a  "floating rest home."

Lighten up and smell the Bingo balls!  It is a person who makes calling Bingo numbers a little bit more interesting not a grand conspiracy by Princess to Disneyfy their ships (and  horror of horrors attract more families and kids).

And the number is:

B 1 – Kelly's eye. ...

B 2 – One little duck. ...

B 3 – Cup of tea. ...

B 4 – Knock at the door. ...

B 5 – Man alive. ...

B 6 – Tom Mix/Half a dozen. ...

B7 – Lucky seven. ...

B 8 – Garden gate.

Etc.................................................................................................

I don't think I'm humorless, I just think I'm past the age where this holds any attraction to me.   On my first cruise when I was in my 20's, I thought the hairy legs/hairy chest contest was funny.....after about the 5th time, I could easily forgo seeing it.   Same with the parade in the dining room.   Call me stuffy, call me a prude, but don't call me humorless 🙂

Not against change. Against Princess making mistakes. We live near the abandoned Casa Sirena and Marina, a failed Princess effort to open a resort. All of us are here because we like cruising and found Princess presented a brand that suited us. Princess has made some mistakes, but overall still offered a good product. Just some expressing concern that management doesn't understand the difference between cruising and an amusement park.

Quite frankly Princess is always changing their product and are hardly going to waterslides in the MDR's....it is a character that plays a specific role for people who like playing Bingo.....we love Fortuna so keep doing what you are doing Princess.

She has been around since the first cruise the Regal did with the medallion (2018 I think).

Hmm ... well, the January 2020 cruise was on the Pacific Princess and that ship doesn't get the full complement of staff. Probably too small for a big name like Fortuna Luck! 😉

Wait until they see the new Dinosaur character Princess is introducing to appease the passengers throwing shade at Fortuna…..

They tried the same thing at Caesar's Casino in Atlantic City, NJ in the 90's with a man dressed as a Roman emperor bestowing good fortune and good tidings on all who came near him - hard to miss as he was directly in front of the main casino entranceway on the boardwalk. I don't think that attempt lasted more than a couple months and nobody I knew was impressed by him or encouraged to gamble by his exhortations of the "Great fortunes awaiting all of you inside!" (paraphrasing, but he said something of the sort.)

Obviously Princess is more invested in Lady Fortuna than Caesar's was in their Emperor, but I'd love a glimpse at the casino metrics before and since employing her. I'd lay odds the young people I know would all think her persona both sketch and cringe.

Lets also add the The Marriage Match gameshow.

Stupid at best.

Does anyone know what her real function is??

Certainly not to entice people to gamble.

I'm missing the whole point of her position.

When we were on board pre-covid she hosted bingo. Appears she is part of the casino staff and not the Princess entertainment staff. Probably less costly for Princess. Prior to Fortuna Luck bingo was hosted by an ass't CD, with cards sold and prizes given out by the casino staff. She was also at a table at the entrance to the casino. Think she was selling scratch offs. She might have also been dealing a table game at times. Also saw her at the welcome aboard party providing some prizes as well at some other parties. Guess her job is casino/gambling hostess.

I feel the job and activities could be better accomplished with a high personality individual that is not in costume playing a character.

No way! That's one of my faves! The raunchier, the better. And a cruising staple. I'd much rather see guests go over the top than a paid employee.

We went on cruise in September and loved fortuna she made us laugh we ended up going to the bingo even though we had never played before.

Good to hear a positive impression of her. Maybe she is bringing people into the casino. If so, well played, Princess!

Would you have gone if she had the vibrant personality, but not as a costume character?

I am actually highly amused by the pirate but I’m pretty sure Ruby uses two different staffers to play the two characters.   It’s a terrible proprietary poker for players but her demos are a riot.

I think we saw two different pirates; the one on Majestic was rocking a less comedy / more smoky vibe, but still great with interactions at the poker demo.

Marriage Match was fully packed on our March B2B both times, and hilarious good fun both times too.

I don't think they'll get rid of that anytime soon (which is good; it's something that guests can participate in and it changes everytime depending on who the guests are)

We were on the Grand in January and I never could figure out whether the pirate gal was part of the CD staff or casino.  Whoever hired her, she was an amazing actress who stayed in character and so much fun to watch.   She even participated in the shows in the Explorer's Lounge.   Never saw the pirate gal on either the Majestic in December or recently on the Discovery.  Fortuna Luck gal always a little silly for me but others loved her.

Marriage Match game is always one of the highlights of our cruises.  We were picked to participate on the Majestic and even won.  Kevin was the CD and had so much fun with all of us.  Usually the honeymoon or oldest couple seen to give the funniest answers.

Ok so to start off fortuna and the pirate queen are the same gal….dif costume..ALL the fortuna luck girls have the same wig and costume. If people don’t like this character (s) can you just not worry about it and enjoy the fact you are on a cruise? The (fortuna) gals I’ve talked to on our cruises are really nice people with just a job to do. Our last cruise I didn’t do bingo and saw the character perhaps once in passing on the ship. Just sayin….

I am pretty sure I saw Fortuna Luck at the scratch-off card table in the casino at the same time the pirate was doing the poker game. I’m not sure that the same person always plays both characters
