A record of this should also be at no cost. That's a valid point. We will ask for our record. They charged us $14 for paracetamol but refunded it when we complained. It's just not got enough. In February I was on the Regal and went to the medical center for something non Covid related. Not knowing if my insurance needed to see my medical record I paid the $28. Medicare doesn't cover it so I didn't even file with them. My secondary insurance (through a former employer of dh) paid most of my claim but not the medical record or OTC medication. I then filed with Princess insurance. It took a while but they DID pay it. 1
Babr Posted June 2, 2022 #207 Share Posted June 2, 2022 I’m wondering what Covid treatment people are receiving that requires having their entire medical record from the ship. For most, that would likely be positive test results and a statement regarding the number of days in quarantine. The medical department supplies that at disembarkation. I don’t recall anyone receiving anything other than over the counter meds. That hardly requires a records search. On the other hand, I remember one person asking about or being offered Paxlovid. It required a doctor’s consultation and a liver function test for $750. Apparently that is not part of the free Covid care offered onboard. In that case, getting one’s records would be necessary for an insurance claim and one’s primary care doctor at home.

I tested positive during the first cruise of a scheduled back-to-back. I did not receive any paperwork from medical when we disembarked after the first cruise. I filed a claim for the cost of the second cruise with AON. They wanted proof of the positive test which I didn’t have. Fortunately my TA was able to get us FCCs instead. Of course, we also got FCCs for the time in quarantine and eventually received checks from Princess for the balance in our casino accounts and onboard accounts. People should definitely request a copy of their test results before disembarkation. 1

From recent reports, it appeared that those were being delivered at disembarkation. It is a good idea to ask ahead of time just to be sure. Anyone not familiar with insurance or requirements for certificates of recovery may not realize they are required. As for any other medical records for treatment beyond what Princess is offering as free routine meds and monitoring, there likely will be a fee.

I got the information about 'worldwide urgent care' from a rep when I called inquiring about the status of my claim. I've followed these boards about medicare not covering, and was actually surprised when she responded about the urgent care. I mainly filed the claim to seemingly get the official rejection so I could follow-up with the AON policy

You would have to check your specific plan to see if it’s covered. Some of the Employer sponsored Medicare plans to cover medical worldwide.

If yours does, I would like to switch to that one. If you go to the Medicare.gov website and enter your zip code etc., it will list the Medicare Advantage or Medigap options available for your area. On the right side of each option, it lists Benefits. One of those Benefits lists whether or not it covers "Worldwide Emergency" or "Foreign Travel". You could then call that particular company and find out exactly what that means.

Yeah we masked as well on the same cruise. Husband tested positive on the 27th and I am still negative.

Yes, provided you have paid your Medicare Part B premiums. I seemed to recall that coverage was limited to 150 days, but don’t see anything about that in current information. You will have to pay all expenses and then submit a Tricare Overseas Claim when you return home. https://www.tricare.mil/Plans/HealthPlans/TFL/TFL_O We always buy travel insurance plus medical evacuation insurance on top of that.
P23r23s23 Posted June 3, 2022 #222 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Anyone had to quarantine another 5 days after disembarkation in Whittier/Anchorage? If so, which hotel(s) did Princess book? Hoping their contract rate is pretty darn good because rack rate is $400-600 a night and we have to pay that ourselves and wait for reimbursement. I also don’t want to spend 5 nights in a Motel 6, so hoping they contract with decent hotels. Princess is saying positive test = 10 days quarantine not including day zero, regardless of vaccination status. By the time we disembark in Whittier, I will have quarantined 5 days. They said I can’t book a flight home till June 10. (I am US citizen, fully vax & double boosted). CDC does say to ‘avoid travel’ for 10 days so I assume that is the basis for the requirement. I have a letter from Tricare For Life that states it is secondary insurance when filing a claim with AON. So far we have not had to file with Tricare For Life as AON has paid all $ amounts on our shipboard claims. Just set this web site https://www.tricare-overseas.com/ up on my desktop for reading up on using Tricare overseas. Check with Tricare For Life for answers to your specific questions/concerns. Don't know for sure, about Tricare, I have a retired Federal Employee BCBS plan that supplements my Medicare. I did have a claim once when out of the country. Contacted BCBS when I returned, had to submit a claim to an international claims office in DC. Contact Tricare, suspect it does cover outside USA.
