Currently on Voyager. Our waiter said this is the first totally booked ship since the pandemic started

Recommended Posts

I’m not sure if what he said was accurate, but he said that this is the first time they have had a sold out ship since the start of the pandemic.   They may have one or two inside cabins left, but they are considering it to be sailing at full capacity.  This is a three day cruise sailing out of Los Angeles over the memorial day weekend, for what it’s worth. It’s a quickie but we’re having a nice time so far and we have a tour planned in Ensenada this afternoon.

Once I get back I will do a full review with some photos in a discussion about Chef’s table which we did last night.

You may have you ship names mixed up - RCI wishes they could sell out Voyager.

OP is getting their monies worth from their DBP. 🤣

Walking back to the ship after spending the afternoon in Ensenada. "Looks like our ship (Voyager) left us. I wonder if the Navigator will give us a ride". 🍹

What makes you say that?

Because it probably has the most unsold cabins of any of the Voyager class ships at the height of the season - probably the reason it got pulled from next year.

They can sell out a ship that is a three or four day trip because zero to very few people will be testing positive with COVID.

Not sure RCI nor the public book based on that.

A week ago, I disembarked an 11 night TA where a number of people (at least 9 by day 7) were quarantined. Some crew were also in quarantine. The reality of cruising is that some passengers will be COVID positive by the end of a cruise. If you are only on the ship for a three to four day cruise, it won't be detected, therefore will not be a concern to the cruise line. They won't have to reserve cabins for possible quarantine with shorter cruises.

Except it doesn't work that way, all their ships need to have quarantine areas - well at least the ones that plan to sail out of the US., which is kinda the whole fleet except Spectrum.

Some B2Bers could be positive on a day 2  or 3 of a 4 or 5 day sailing. Plus crew could turn up positive on any day.

Could be, but the reality is that the people who are feeling poorly on Day 2 of a 3 day cruise likely won't report as positive. It just makes sense for the cruise companies to fill up 3-7 day sailing to the brim but not do the same for 8+ day cruises. BTW- if you report as positive on a B2B, you are taken off the ship before the next cruise. This happened to some of our passengers who were doing B2B2B and they reported their COVID on the first leg. They were rather shocked. I believe the only exception are the countries that refuse to take positive cases from a cruise ship.

Again, a business is not going to limit bookings on what might happen.

Correct we are on navigator.  Got them mixed up.

Traffic was crazy in Ensenada today. Our tour group was late but the ship did wait for us and probably some other tours as well.

What was the temperature like? It was cold when we were onboard at the end of April. And now there is a Pacific hurricane forming. Agatha. But there are no more 7 day cruises until the end of September.

Weather was nice.  Around 70 at the coast and maybe mid 70s inland where we went.

Have been cruising on the NV recently and her guest count has been fluctuating a good bit. We’re on again Friday for a B2B and it’s looking as though the 6/06 sailing will have more capacity. Haven’t sailed on this ship with full capacity in twenty years and that was before they amped her and added additional staterooms. On our recent cruises it was more like 1100-1500. Ship felt empty.
