Indy Panoramic Suite

Recommended Posts

Any thoughts on these?

Wife & I are doing a B2B 3/4-night next month & currently have interior GTYs. We’re frugal & really don’t care about our cabin (hence the interior GTY) but as I was placing some RoyalUp bids for small upgrades mostly for the heck of it b/c the min bids are so low & we got a good deal on our current cabins I noticed the Panoramic Suite.

The min bid is still pretty low (less than a Jr Suite) & comes with full suite perks from what I’ve read. We don’t ever use our balcony when we have one so that’s of no concern & the room looked neat but we’d mostly be paying for the perks.

Reading my post, just take it as an open-ended question about Freedom class suite perks & if you have anything to share about the actual Panoramic, that’s cool too. TIA.

I had it on the Mariner and loved it!!  Usually get a balcony but didn't miss it at all.  I keep hoping it is offered on RU for my Mariner sailings but it has not been.  I would bid on it for sure.

So good news it’s offered on both halves of my Indy B2B but almost no chance I get it with a low bid it seems (or little chance anyone gets it via RU).

I got my RU emails the day I checked in for each leg. The list included more categories than I knew existed, lol. Spacious this, ultra spacious that…

Thx for the feedback. I’ll see if the wife wants to bid a little extra but we really don’t care a ton about the cabin as I said & sounds like I won’t get it anyway but no harm in trying.

Any Indy-specific tips or tricks or comments? I was on Freedom once but have been on almost nothing but Oasis-class for quite a while.

Good luck with your bids!

on Indy, our top suite perks were:

—Concierge service

—Concierge Lounge

—Priority boarding

—Priority debarkation with Concierge taking a group of us off and all the way to the customs area

They have a suite area near the pool, we did not use it.  We sat in the dedicated area during a show but there were lots of other seats available.  That may have been handier at night.

This was our second trip in a Suite (the first was on Mariner) and the Concierge (Grecia) made a world of difference over the first one.  She mentioned that she might leave the ship in late June but who knows with the extensions of crew and all…

I remember following your trip report, Ron. Thanks for the feedback.

Honestly, we’re perfectly happy with the DL & I don’t need to drink a ton (plus I’d likely get 1-2 of my wife’s Diamond drinks per day as she doesn’t drink & uses them for mocktails). That said, being in a suite on Harmony right now, which has extra perks like CK, 11-11 beer, wine, truly, soda in the SL on top of happy hour & my 4 Diamond drinks, I’m drinking like a fish. 🤣

Glad you are enjoying the perks.  One of these days we will go on one of the larger ships and try those out!  For us, the drink package would not be necessary with all day beer and wine plus the CL.  Throw in the casino drinks (of course, we pay a price for them but we would anyway!) and that about covers it.

Enjoy this cruise…and the next ones down the line!

Thanks Ron. Definitely give Oasis class a shot. Can always go back to Freedom or Voyager class.

We enjoyed Coastal Kitchen. It’s somewhere between a specialty restaurant & the MDR depending on the night IMO. The filet mignon night one was excellent. Other nights it was fine just not as good as the filet.

It was also nice to go to the SL for drinks & hors d'oeuvres & then just walk to the other side of the room for dinner.

We are going on a smaller ship next time…Grandeur.

My wife keeps calling it “Grandma of the Seas”…

Nice. I’ve only been on two ships without a promenade & I really missed the open space & feel. Lots of people seem to find them cozy & enjoy the intimacy though. Can’t know til you try it.

I’ve sailed in 1854 on Indy and we loved it. Not that big of a balcony user, thus didn’t miss that aspect.

The cabin is huge and the view is spectacular.

The only slight negative relative to being in this suite is that the bathroom(S) are plain like a balcony room - not fancy like a suite.  No big deal.

I always look to see if one is available but since there’s only two, it’s not that easy to find one.

We’re booked in 1804 for the upcoming Adventure repo this fall and looking forward to it.

The thing I love about these suites is that you can book them with a refundable deposit.  With the new rules for NRD cancellation penalties, these refundable suites are going to be even more sought-after.  We have the VP booked for Christmas + NY on VY next year.  So glad I booked these way ahead of time with refundable deposits.

I always found that strange  good but strange   When the sailings first came out last year the ones on the Mariner were priced less than a JS for a while

Yeah, it’s not a big deal. I only started this thread b/c it happened to be listed in my RoyalUp email & the min bid seemed oddly low.

We’ll be fine with our cave or one of the minor upgrades I bid on besides the Panoramic. Indy is still Indy, Cococay is still Cococay, there’s lots of food & our Diamond drinks are plenty.

I've got one on Navigator booked in Jan next year as a refundable.  We had a similar cabin on Serenade (it is side facing instead of front facing) last August and really enjoyed it. The floor to ceiling windows made for great viewing.  With the cooler weather in Alaska we didn't miss having a balcony.  We'll see how we like it for a Mexican Riviera cruise

I have one booked on the Mariner for November and am actually toying with the idea of giving it up.  I am spending a lot of time on the Mariner this year, might change to Indy-  We will see if I make the next couple of trips first.  Mine is also refundable

Pretty much only similarity between those two is the windows and lack of balcony😉

We are doing b2b up there in December on Mariner.😁
