I’m getting ready for a rescheduled cruise and ended up with $650 obc. Gratuity has already been paid as has Cheers. We don’t do excursions (been there done that). Other than maybe a spa treatment, how should I use it? Can it be used in Casino? Should we try a specialty restaurant? We will be on the Magic to Eastern Caribbean. Thanks all!

well you could do speciality dining and if you did not prepay tips, then OBC would be used for that.

However, you can decide if shops on board would be great for shopping for gifts for holidays or birthdays.   Still with that much money, I would pick ONE shore excursion to go on especially if in Eastern Caribbean.  St Johns is nice.

You can remove your prepaid grats (they will be refunded) and use OBC to pay your grats.

Casino!!

Specialty dining.

Personally, I wouldn't even use the OBC in the spa (I really don't like their upsell tactics).

Alcohol and other items in the Fun Shops on board.

Tip big 🙂

If you book an excursion on line. Most of the time there is a discount. So booking onboard would cost more. You can use it for anything you want. casino, ships store, bingo, added tips etc.

Once you get on the ship you’ll find ways. We’re doing a b2b2b and have $650, $700, and $100.00. We were able to cash out onboard credit last November and came home with 650. So if it’s refundable you’ll be able to cash out.

You can now pay for things purchased on line before being onboard with OBC. No longer need to actually be on board

They don’t offer onboard booking anymore.

This is true.  However, we used up our OBC by buying a few Carnival gift cards in the Cherry on Top gift shop onboard.  We're putting that toward a future cruise.

As noted, I would un-pre-pay the grats, and pay the grats using OBC.

That will consume about $200, depending on how many of you there are in your party.  I will assume 2.

Steakhouse: about $100.

If they offer (and have slots available), Chef's table - that's another $200.

Get some of the photos from Pixels?  Easy to spend $100.

Buy some t-shirts or other souvenirs?

We had $650 in OBC for our cruise last Dec on Mardi Gras, and we blew through it all somehow, and I don't think we did the Steakhouse or Chef's Table, but we did do Rudy's Seagrill.  We spent the rest on Pixels, Auto-grats, t-shirts and souvenirs (the ship model is almost $100!), and maybe a good chunk of our drink tips (we always add a bit even with Cheers).

That OBC should be just enough for a ceramic dalmatian and a Flokati rug. 😃
