Our condo is in Bradenton, but we are not there.  FPL shows energy usage by the hour and usually the a/c runs 3-4 times a day while we are gone.  It shows no usage since 5 a.m. yesterday, so either low temperatures or no power.  We aren’t there to be uncomfortable, but we got caught with a lot of food in the freezer. We froze a cup of water before we left and put a quarter on top of the ice.  Crossing our fingers that the quarter is not on the bottom of the cup when we return.

Since FPL can show hourly usage, I'd think they could also show status of power being on or off.  And that quarter idea is pretty ingenious!

That's interesting.  I've always used a penny in a cup.  Does a quarter work better, being heavier?

That stuff is so salty.

Ahhh...salt and lots of saturated fat..   What's not to like?  😄

Have to keep the cardiologists in business after all.  😉

BTW..when Bucky was in Vietnam...they used irons to heat the Spam slices.

I'm in NSB and just lost power about an hour ago. Surprised that it lasted that long

We were very...very lucky (so far) and have not lost power.  Weird right now being in the very large "eye" of now Tropical storm Ian.  Calm winds and rains have subsided...for now...backside whipping coming up soon.

I'm not expecting very much on the back side.

Me neither...though I think we will get a bit more rain...like we need that!  😮

Funny thing about living in the swamp though...you would think we would have flooding problems...but all that swamp mud seems to be sucking it in.  😄   And the Frogs were singing all night long.  So far the Alligators are not roaming about through the back yard...so far anyway.

This guy bumped into our bird feeder a few months ago.

Does anyone how Venice, FL did? Have a cousin there. He sent me a video on Wed about 3:30 strong winds and rain. Haven't been able to get a hold of him since. I figured power out.

Yes power is out --- I have relatives in that area -- not a pretty site. Over 2 million people with no power -- it's a 500 year event.

That was a good idea, thank you.  They do have that information available, but we cannot figure it out.  Probably because power outages are so widespread that the “triangles” referred to are a huge overlapping mess.  Will try again later, hopefully after they have made some progress in restoring power and there is less going on with the graphics.

Could you elaborate on that? Lots of destruction as well, flooding, etc? Thanks

Those of you flying in.  Port of Miami is open. Pretty sure Port Everglades is too.  Haven't heard on Port Canaveral or Port of Tampa. So I'm sure MIA is open or opening.  Tampa airport opens tomorrow, I believe.  MCO will probably follow suit. JAX is closed, could open on Saturday, But I'd be leery about the port there given it's location.

Yes lots of flooding, property damage, etc. If you were there during Charley or Irma you haven't seen anything yet. This storm was almost a Cat 5 when it hit land -- major damage.

Even though MIA is open there are tons of cancellations.

Update - I tried FPL’s site again and found out our power was back on.  Not sure how long it was out.  Hopefully the quarter that was on the top of the cup of ice is still there, or at least not too far under the surface.  Replacing food is not a huge expense if that is all we have to pay for.  The evacuation cruise will be fully covered by the jackpot I won on the little piggy slot machine in the casino, for $35 more than the total of the cruise fare, internet, gratuities, and parking!

So very sad. I live in Oklahoma so we just have tornadoes so I'm very aware of destruction. Praying for those communities affected.

I hope no deaths

6 deaths reported in Charlotte County and 1 in Osceola and another in Volusia so far. Cuba also had a few deaths.

Ian is back on water again and has increased from Tropical Storm to a Hurricane again headed towards South Carolina.
