Is Verifly necessary?

I have not sailed on HAL for several years.  I received an email today for our cruise next week requesting that I upload my information (vaccines) yet I still need to  bring my originals for boarding.

For those of you who have used Verifly, what is the advantage?  Is this mandatory?

Thanks in advance.

It's not mandatory, but in our experience over 7 cruises, it really speeds up embarkation.

I used VeriFLY, and arrivecan (supposedly necessary) to prepare for our recent N Statendam cruise out of Quebec. I am by no means techy, but, I managed to get both process to work successfully, and I printed the results, plus my our HAL boarding passes.

On approach to the boarding process at the Quebec terminus, an attendant initially tried to send me/us to the long check in line because I had only Print-outs with my VeriFLY successful results, and no bar code phone screen to show. I prevailed, and a supervisor quickly allowed us to proceed. We avoided the long-ish check in line and walked onto the ship.

Having a completed VeriFLY document in hand saved us waiting in a line… but, since I/we didn’t go into the line, I don’t have a sense of how much time was saved.

We used it for our Alaska cruise from Seattle in June.  Walked in to the terminal, and the Verifly check is had no line.  We were checked in immediately and on our way to the next stop in the process.  Verifly made it easy.  There was a line for regular check in.

We will use it again when we board the Koningsdam in San Diego Nov. 5.

How do you print the results from Verifly?

That's the fun of it: you donot have to. You just show the Verifly app in your mobile phone. (And before or after you show your passport).

Two Questions:

1). If I have Verifly do I still have to take out and show my vaccine card and boarding pass?

2). and where/how does one upload their vaccine card on the app?  (I know this is a stupid question but I see no place to upload my paper vaccine card)

Thanks.  Couldn't find a "print" button. lol

If you’re using an iPad you could just take a screenshot then go to your photos, select the photo then depress the box at the top with the vertical line (the same way you would send the photo in a message.  Just scroll down all the way on the pop up and you will see “print”.

A few questions from a first time Verifly and HAL passenger:

Will I be able to upload my NYS Excelsior Pass as my proof of vaccination?  Do I still need to upload the CDC cards?  (I now have three as the vaccinations have filled two cards due to stickers being used rather than handwritten in.)  Can I upload all three if I need to?

I just don't want to spend hours trying to get data into a wonky app only to save 20 minutes in a line at the cruise terminal.

No.  My sis wanted me to use it in July, the staff at Montreal didn’t even know what it was.

No surprise to me.  Worst embarkation EVER on 25 plus HAL cruises was in Montreal.  Totally disorganized and took forever to board.

Merging from another thread…when we arrived they asked how many stars and escorted us to a priority of the line even though my stars don’t warrant that treatment

I had a good experience last month in Seattle with Verifly (30 seconds to process at checkin) so this morning I decided to fill in information for my upcoming cruise in 2 weeks.  I was quickly able to enter my photo and the Covid card information, but it took about 15 minutes for them to process the photo of the card and register it on the site.  Still very easy and hopefully will make boarding a bit quicker and less paperwork.

We just boarded the Westerdam in Seattle and having Verifly definitely made a difference we passed at least 250 people. From drop off to entering our stateroom was 40 minutes.  There was a slight 10 minute delay at the passport inspection because the system froze up.
