Icon OTS looks like a joke…

Okay Mate,

Looks like we are going to have to take this cutlass duel 🤺 out to the quarterdeck (after I have my lunch in the Windjammer. That might take a while. Then I have to lay in the sun after lunch and there is not much reason to do it after sunset).

On second thought, I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!   😠.

Darn, I HATE IT it when people agree with me. 😥

BTW I much prefer water pistols at dawn. 🔫 Afterwards you have your whole day ahead of you to get dry.

There is also something to be said for having some ships that attract a younger audience with the hope that you can keep them and they'll later transition to the other smaller ships when the kids are grown.  It would be a bad idea to drive off the older crowd, but I don't see how adding whiz-bang activities does that.

I am one that was attracted to RCI for all the things to do.  I've always worried that I'd be bored on a cruise, so when husband and 12-year-old child said that they'd like a cruise, I looked for one with lots of activities.  I'm too cheap to do the newest ships, but they call to me.

This! If they do things carefully those clients now becoming more mature won't be last. Such a thing I appreciate on the last 2 Oasis class vessels plus the Icon is that cabins are becoming somewhat designed on the same way they design Celebrity ones. Your cabin will be your "home" for the week. If you have a cabin that feels like home on Oasis, but also on Edge will facilitate your transition, when your needs move. I praise them for that. My gripe with this ship is that all the design seems cheap and the colors excessively bright elsewhere. Want to know how can we harmoniously pave the way for a fantastic all generations accommodation plus a way to deal with the natural generation move? Try to see what MSC is doing on their World Europa ship. All those young adult family like activities out there, while retaining both MSC's all times identity and trying to keep their clientele coming. Surely MSC has no mid-level trademark. RCI has. That facilitates RCI, but I'd suggest them to be somewhat more cautious. The Quantum's Dynamic Dinning fiasco wasn't so long ago!

Or just build an updated Quantum class ship.

+1 for updated Quantum. O/I classes have very few ports where they can dock here in Europe, plus Europe is all about town attractions one don't want to miss. The current sort of global retraction on holiday and cruise demand will pave the way for some more LNG/Green Hydrogen fueled Freedom to Quantum size ships in the near future so that cruise lines retain their 2027-2030 shipyard slots as they plan, while awaiting a better economic environment for their business arises again. Quantum prototype is available, so no need to bring a whole new one, so bring in some more at a controlled building cost.

I will load mine with good quality Scotch. This way you can soothe your ego as you lick your wounds after your inglorious "wet" defeat. 🤣.

I see a problem with that.  For one, I wouldn't duck.

Reminds me of when DD was young and a birthday party had laser tag as an activity.    The girls ended up in a conga line shooting the one in front and giggling.

I know that using a biological weapon like alcohol in a water gun to paralyze your enemy might be a bit extreme, but the fight is short-lived, and everyone is smiling in the end. There are no winners or losers, just peaceful co-existence. 😌.

I forgot all about the Dynamic Dining Debacle.

It must be fun to be in the business world and know in advance that every, well, advance will be met with torches and pitchforks. I assume they all have a pool on how soon before social media is in a tizzy.

If you look at the videos there is so much more beyond the amusement type atmosphere!!!  One important thing to note is this ship is bringing more floor to ceiling ocean views, something that was always lacking on the Oasis class of ships.

To each his own….but I believe it’s going to be a huge hit!  We cannot wait to book the Icon and we are in our 70’s!!

A bit younger, but with two mid teen kids, this ship is going to be awesome!  Plenty to do for all ages!

Wow, thems would be fighting words, but on reflection, if more feel like you, she’ll be easy to book!  Can’t wait.  Will be even more excited if they have Hamilton as the show! 🙂

I truly love this ship.  families w small kids will concentrate on Surfside, while older folks have a swim up bar, a suspended infinity pool, largest pool at sea, adults only pool and so much more!  And they haven't even talked about the Pearl yet.  Makes me sad that so many people just see immediately what is in front of them and not the bigger picture.  The icon should expand your audience: grandparents, parents and kids all on same cruise having a ball!  Please think before you judge!

Not judging, but the only reason I go on the Oasis class ships is the entertainment.  I don't sit by the pools or in the hot tubs - never go to the casino.  I enjoy my balcony and I don't need a mega ship to do that, so I probably will never go on anything larger.

I hope it's a great experience for those looking for that type of thing, but I'll pass.

most on here have been there many times.

For us it's our vacation home!  We've been so many times there's nothing new they can show us, but we love the water and the people and Nachi.  It's like On Golden Pond for us.

I wish posters here could just let people enjoy what they like instead of finding fault with anything and everything and trying to change opinion with criticism.  You like what you like. We go for innovation, I love seeing and experiencing anything new and exciting, so this ship will be right up my alley...others would rather sit and chill on their balcony...there are times we do that too...something for everybody, different strokes for different folks.  It's not a crime to be different.

It certainly would be boring if all ships and cruise Lins were the same.  That's one reason we like to sail on a variety of lines.

Lol I find the promenade stifling.  I like seeing as much of the ocean and outside as possible!

Well you will on icon's promenade! See some of the illustrations: three deck high windows to let the outside in.
