Live from Jewel of the Seas Transatlantic 2022

Recommended Posts

Well I finally got to play some poker! Just a Sit and Go tournament and only 5 of us in it, but I won it🥳🥳 good fun.

Also finalised my January cruise the ABC islands on the Explorer on Jan 21st next year.

My 2nd shoulder and back massage is due in an hour so looking forward to that.

See you later

I have been hoping someone could tell me if Jewel OTS (and Brilliance OTS) still have the free male and female sauna and steam rooms.

You mentioned you had a sauna and steam.

Were they perhaps in the free facilities in the ladies spa dressing room?

Thanks for the great review!

After doing Chops and finding it so disappointing I’m just not going to take the risk ☹️

We did Taste of Royal on Harmony last month.  Was not impressed.  Risotto was actually crunchy, as it was so undercooked.  (And not Arborio).

May try it again on a smaller ship, to see if it is better.

Good morning, awake at silly o’clock with gaining all these extra hours!

Travel Cats, yes free Sauna and Steam rooms on the Jewel.

So tired last night I forgot to take pics of MDR menu or food! Sorry 😕

I have found the MDR food to be excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes made a wrong choice but always plenty to choose from.

Lunch was scallop ceviche, followed by lobster roll, not much lobster at all in that. Dinner I had the French Onion soup, consistently good, fillets of sole, excellent and cheese plate, good.

Ship has been rocky but seas have calmed down this morning. I played at the tables last night after dinner for about 10 minutes, I knew my bed was calling me 😴

Will start Day 10 later (it’s 06.50 here).

See you soon

Just found and read this thread…all caught up - looks like a wonderful cruise so far, other than the brief quarantine, not fun! I am sailing Jewel in December with my sister and mother (girls cruise - yea!) so it’s fun to see all the pictures and hear the great comments on the MDR food and amazing crew. I absolutely love meeting and getting to know the crew when I cruise. You mentioned free specialty coffee at Cafe Lattatudes for Diamond and above. Is this in addition to the Diamond drink vouchers? I hate using vouchers for coffee at the lower price point than cocktails. The coffee machine in the Diamond Lounge is ok, but I much prefer the flavored lattes as a treat when I cruise.  Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Yes the coffee is in addition to your vouchers, one non alcoholic speciality coffee per day. 😀

Caught up with sleep now, after about 12 hours of sleeping I’m ready for the day!
Room service breakfast and then a leisurely day for me, doing what? I haven’t decided that bit yet 😀

Interested to read this. We were on Jewel in September and took advantage of our D+ BOGOs to eat in Chops and Giovannis. We always then book a 3 or 5 night package but were so disappointed in both that we stuck with the MDR which was much better than many of our previous cruises.

Day 10 continued

I did say it would be a quiet one! So lazy morning then a light lunch in the MDR, smoked potato soup, followed by Mediterranean lamb filled pitta bread with Greek salad.

Then off to the cinema to see Where the crawdads sing. I have read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it and really enjoyed the film too, had a bit of a cry! 😢

Happy hour in the Safari Club with new cruise friends, then back to the MDR for dinner. Bay scallops gratin, fabulous ! Spaghetti Marinara, delicious. If I have any pics I will upload.

Off to the casino to give them some money back and then hit the wall again, so tired! Clocks are back an hour again tonight so think we are now on US east coast time. Hopefully it will at least help reduce jet lag! 🙄

Weather cloudy today, sea calm, a few bumps but very little swell. Quite humid and warm though.

Some nice sunset cloud pics for you! Love the colours.41EC8D06-9DC7-4EBC-A8B0-5CB361E22458.thumb.jpeg.13900da2772c66a44d809e861e159e2c.jpegDCDA8C14-4473-46C7-A5BF-99DA0827799D.thumb.jpeg.d94b2e6c8203c58c235cfae4bae4b892.jpeg22641D0A-4A4C-4DB0-9EE2-1989F823EB15.thumb.jpeg.fbdb82beaa5889b293b87b6e7ed51a40.jpeg

See you tomorrow. Good night 😘

There are so few passengers that there are no lines for anything!

The staff are amazing everywhere and enjoying the fact that that there are more crew than passengers on this cruise! 😂

Wow, what is the passenger count? Last 20yrs only done Radiance Class on longer Sailings where we only had 1450-2050. This is lot lower capacity then shorter Cruises and on other Classes that run average over 100%. Did B5B last Spring on Jewel and have to agree, cleanest, friendliest best run I've seen in long time. Even Food in WJ, selection & taste was Great! I almost did this TA but ended up doing Oct Serenade PC instead, my first threw the Canal

One cruiser - just 1200 passengers! More crew than passengers.

I must say again, I love this ship. All the wood and glass makes for delightful surroundings. The sofa in my room needs to be thrown out as it’s so threadbare but other than that, everywhere in the public areas is32698DBB-075F-478D-9D2A-9341924645CF.thumb.jpeg.0f6717ad016e066a4797650c87f397bf.jpeg in great shape.

Day 11 penultimate day 😕 though I have put a sad face here I have had a lovely cruise but ready to go home and see family and my beautiful girl, Millie and then get ready for my next cruise in January! 🥳

Here she is with her boyfriend, Denby. Everybody say awww!

Day 12!
Here we are approaching the end of the cruise.

Yesterday was a strange one for me, I didn’t feel well all day, just out of sorts. So very lazy indeed.

I ate twice at the Windjammer, breakfast and lunch and struggled to find anything I liked for lunch, eventually settling on a burger with fries but no bun. Adequate.

I slept in the afternoon and had my cruise friends, Ann and Barbara join me for champagne in my cabin at 5 pm. We enjoyed a few glasses and a good chat. They then carried on to happy hour but I ordered dinner in and went to bed!

Poorly food, chicken noodle soup and grilled salmon, both tasty but couldn’t finish the salmon.

Feeling much better this morning though not looking forward to packing!

Will update and final review later

Thanks to everyone following xx

We're in PC waiting for you so we can board tomorrow.  We've been in FL since Tuesday.  Weather was great until today when we had scattered showers off and on.  Expect the same tomorrow.  Enjoy the last evening onboard.

We’re here at PC and I am now waiting in Terminal C at Orlando airport for my flight home later this evening!

So Day 12 was great, I won another poker tournament, had a fabulous facial with Natasha in the spa (if you’re looking to use the spa for a facial or massage, do ask for Natasha, she is great at both). Also had my hair washed and blow dried and ate in MDR for lunch and dinner.

As an overall review of this fabulous cruise I would say the positives outweighed the negatives by about 200-1! The Jewel is in great shape and I really loved this ship and her crew, I never found anyone who was not happy and smiling and making sure you had a good time (even some of the passengers were like that!😂)

I would not hesitate to sail on her again.

Despite some reports I had read about the food going downhill, I thought the food in the MDR was consistently good and would struggle to pay for the few speciality restaurants on board, on this ship anyway.

I have already mentioned my disappointment with Chops, Chef’s table was great food but not great wine (IMO) and the “sommelier” rather spoilt the evening for me though the chefs were great. A couple of fellow passengers had been to Giovanni’s and were shocked at how long they were kept waiting to be served in there, despite there being few people in there.

IMO, save your money for other things and stick to MDR - Windjammer is fine too if you like buffet food, it’s not for me but I did eat there a couple of times at breakfast and lunch, again some friends ate there every day and thought it was great. You pays your money and takes your choice😀

Usually on disembarkation day I take an excursion as my flight is usually a late one but there was only one today to Kennedy space centre which holds no appeal to me but may be great for you.

So I paid for the shuttle from the ship but beware! The driver dropped us all off at terminal B and said it was a short walk to the other Terminals, I even asked him to confirm that as I was struggling to walk well today. He was totally wrong! Terminal C is another bus ride away, no way could you walk it! He just wanted an easy life.

I will mention this to RCI as there were a few disabled passengers on the bus and that was totally out of order imo.

Anyway a bit sad to finish on a negative note, so I won’t! Terminal C is fabulous, quiet, airy and spacious and I will enjoy waiting for my flight here.

Thank you to everyone who helped make my cruise so special, thank you all for following and commenting. If I can answer any questions please SHOUT. In the meantime for those at PC now, have a blast on the beautiful Jewel of the Seas.

Cheers, good health and safe travels to you all.

Pat

I thoroughly enjoyed joining you virtually on this trip, and can't wait for our turn next month! I'm so glad to hear that you're pleased with the ship and crew and food, and hope we have the same great experience as you. Safe travels home to you, and hopefully you have a smooth flight 🙂
