It either had something to do with CoVid provisions or just a plain and simple website mistake.

I have a cruise coming up with one port.....Ensanada, and the port taxes/fees are $165 pp!  Then, same Northwest Itinerary as yours (but no casino rate....), 4 ports at $267 pp.  It's so weird.

I believe the port taxes include the embarkation and disembarkation ports, as well as where they stop.  The northwest itinerary ports always charge more than they do in Mexico.

Interesting, I logged into the Princess website but I'm not getting those prices. I wonder why?

Am also not seeing the lower fares. We’re already booked on the 2/25 cruise, got the $100pp “excursion OBC.”

I am really shocked how much vacancy there is on this cruise.

We are on the Royal this Sunday.

Over 370 cabins still available !   Guess we will have great service    :O)

We live by the port so great for us.

I also thought the date was good. A last chance to get away before the holidays.

Its not just California cruises that have a lot of open rooms. I'm on a Florida cruise in 5 weeks and there's a ton of unassigned balconies. I'm in 1 but wonder if those on inside rooms will get upgraded

All on the Royal

Jan 6, 2023; 10 day Mexican CA coastal $249 pp

Jan 31, 2023; 10 day Mexican CA coastal $249 pp

Feb 25, 2023;  5 day CA coastal $99 pp

April 11, 2023; 5 day southern CA coastal $99 pp

April 16, 2023; 7 day southern CA coastal $149 pp

April 30, 2023; 7 day northern CA coastal $149 pp

For these fares, you must have cruised with Princess before AND you have to book them WITHOUT princess plus or premium.  You can add princess plus or premium after booking.

If you book before Oct 31, you'll get an additional $200 per room 'excursion' credit.  Excursion promotion might have been extended.  From what my online TA told me, the 'excursion' credit is regular onboard credit.  I guess I'll find out.

I'm doing a B2B of April 11 and April 16.  Added princess plus after booking and we're good to go.

Already had the Jan 31 already booked with a casino fare, so it didn't get any cheaper.

I have to assume you live so near SF to have so many trips going thru SF

I have to figure out how to get to the port from Fremont.  No one likes to drive into the city.

Get a friend/relative to drive you, or you can take BART into the City then the F streetcar to Pier 27.  From the South Bay, we can take CalTrain, N Judah, F Streetcar.  But we usually get a friend to drive us and pick us up.

Also concerned about a multitude of cabins available on the 2/25/23 CA coastal. It’s reminiscent of the cancelled CA Coastal we had back in Sept.

was scheduled to be on the Diamond, lots suspected it would be cancelled, Princess insisted it was a “go.”  Finally got the news 2 weeks before departure. Hope it doesn’t happen again.

On the flip side, we’re on the 12/26 sailing to Caribbean ABC Islands.

Very few available cabins at this point.  Probably will be full, Christmas break. Have to be extremely cautious, don’t want to return home with anything unplanned. 😖

I did the same B2B in April of this year because of the great rate, think it was actually a bit cheaper.  I think it's the time of year, or maybe it's just a start of the year special they run for those of us that just cruise with nowhere in particular to go, they're not exciting cruises that are in high demand.  I think it's just getting people on the ship for uninteresting cruises.  Not as though they can close the ships for a couple of months without it costing them just as much.

Hubs and I were on the Grand Princess Feb 2020 Hawaiian cruise.  I would have much much much rather have had a cancelled cruise than what we endured. But we lived and are back to cruising.

Trying to detect a pattern is difficult since reopening.  If the rate keeps happening for the next 10 years, then we have a pattern!

Either way, I'm happy to have booked a couple of dates.  And if they get cancelled, I'm out nothing but anticipation as I book all travel through princess too.  Charged on a credit card, in case the ship gets repossessed.

I'll keep looking obsessively and post when I see great rates.  Have fun cruising.

Yup.  We floated around the ocean for almost 2 weeks, then were put on military bases for another 2 weeks. Machine guns and spotlights.

Our 2 week vacation turned into a 6 week ordeal.

For the same ship and same itinerary, you only pay $135 per person in 2022.

In the 2023, you have to pay $257 per person, which is $122 more than current year. This is unreasonable.

You can't get away with the taxes and port fees no matter what deal you received.

Not a deal breaker, but the much higher taxes and port fees really defeat the purpose of the $100 excursion credit.

The lower the fare, the port charges and taxes will be a higher percentage of your fare.  For me, the charges are nearly half of the fare.  For a $100 fare, I have the feeling the charges will be almost, if not more, than the fare.

Governments don't think like regular businesses.  If they are losing money due to lower demand then all they do is raise taxes.
