trixiee Posted October 31, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2022 First time cruising with a child on HAL. Other than not being allowed in the Sea View pool and in the gym, where else are children not welcome? For reference, this is a well-behaved 10 year old. iceman93 Posted October 31, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2022 Add the spa to your list and that sums it up. Children are welcome in all other venues, and well-behaved children especially so! 😉
Rare Roz Posted October 31, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2022 They're allowed in bars but can't drink alcohol. They can play bingo but if they win, an adult has to be present to claim the prize.
wandrr Posted October 31, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2022 How about a ten-year-old unaccompanied on a tender? I am too lazy to look this up, and I bet not many people have experienced it. I would expect the tender staff to send the kid back to mommy or daddy, but does anyone really know? Similarly, an unaccompanied ten-year-old going ashore at a normal port... DE Solo Posted October 31, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2022 In the past, children have not been permitted in the casino while it has been open. Not sure if this is still true.

A few years ago, when my kids were that age, children weren't allowed off the ship without a guardian.

Rare FlaMariner Posted October 31, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2022 They are not allowed to push all the floor buttons on the elevators. If they do, they are immediately dispatched to the nearest Carnival ship where they will feel more at home. We find children on HAL to be very well behaved and our kids grew up on 'dam ships. Enjoy the cruise with them....We did and are glad they still sail HAL and they are in their late 20's! I never recall something that they had any restrictions beside alcohol and the casino. 5

I’ve witnessed an adult push all the buttons on the elevator. We were trying to catch an excursion. Wasn’t happy with her.

Everyone had to wait for them to return so that the children could leave with the parents. The parents were annoyed with crew for holding them up. Many of the things quoted here as not allowable are in fact allowable with adult supervision if the child is under 16 years old. What ticked me off was people bringing infants and toddlers in diapers into the hot tubs and pools; clearly younger than being toiled trained. It's not the kids fault, that's for sure. As far as the bars, kids are allowed in ALL lounges/bars, however they are not allowed to sit AT the bar.

Parents can authorize the crew to allow 16-17 year olds to leave the ship on their own. Otherwise they have to be 18.

Grew up free range and as a 10 yo could be miles from home and my parents wouldn't even know. They would set us loose at Walt Disney World (1970s) and I have no doubt, if allowed back then, they would have had no problem letting us wander in a port on our own. When my son was ahead of me in tender line (people pushed him so he ended up about 4 people ahead) his card was scanned and the security staff immediately looked up to find me. We met eyes so he was allowed through but had to stand aside until I caught up.
