dbrucern Posted November 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Starboard because that is the usual side they tie off on when they pull into a port

sgttami Posted November 10, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Always picked Starboard because it was the smoking side on every line/ship. Gave up one habit and still book Starboard out of habit!

cruisinsly Posted November 10, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Port - just because its the side I stick with. Same side every times means I dont get as lost early in the cruise. lol 3

It is a forward cabin, so there's a short cut up front if I forget. 😅

Just to keep it easier for me - same floor, same room location, same side every time.
ShakyBeef Posted November 10, 2022 #11 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Starboard, because the cabin numbers are odd, like me. 1
FloridaMomKW Posted November 10, 2022 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I always pick port side- usually non smoking side.
Rare ninjacat123 Posted November 10, 2022 #13 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Usually port because supposedly when the ship comes into port, the port side faces the port. Having said that, I usually book port so I won't get lost😉
Riles34 Posted November 10, 2022 #14 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Depends on the ship and what rooms are available. Went port side extended balcony on the Celebration so I wouldn't have to worry about the sound from Celebration Central.

From what I can tell MG usually dock with bow facing east/toward the ocean when docked in Port Canaveral. For whatever reason, when we docked at the end of the trip, the ship docked facing the opposite direction.
Island Dog Posted November 10, 2022 #16 Share Posted November 10, 2022 (edited) Only if I have a balcony. Lol. Then I try and research which destinations will have a beautiful view in port. Then try and figure out what side will get that view and book it. Edited November 10, 2022 by Island Dog

It doesn't matter which ship or cruise line; ever since we began sailing in the early 1980's, every stateroom, every voyage, has always been Port. Feels like I'm on the driver's side...😉 🌴
Rare sid_9169 Posted November 10, 2022 #18 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Team Starboard all the way!!!... Not for any reason in particular, but the ONE bad cruise experience for me happened on the ONLY time I ever booked a Port side cabin... 2
Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted November 10, 2022 #19 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I like to alternate. Just because. All cruises I've been on have had interesting things to look at outside, regardless of the side of the ship.
Rare notscb Posted November 10, 2022 #20 Share Posted November 10, 2022 On another live thread on this forum the reviewer had mentioned how they booked a starboard cabin so they'd be in the shade for the most part on a TA crossing- which is also why I'm happy you posted this question. It's really interesting to see if/how people make these decisions. I'm going to go against the grain and say "forward," as forward and center as I can get. I love those ocean view cabins that give me a direct look at where we're going.

jsglow Posted November 10, 2022 #22 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Usually it doesn't matter to us but we do prefer shade if we get a Balc so try to judge which side of ship accordingly. A TA would be a perfect example of that.
Rare Saint Greg Posted November 10, 2022 #23 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Whichever has the best room. But it seems like I've been starboard on my last four cruises and on my next. But I'm portside on the one after that.
mom2tcdx2 Posted November 10, 2022 #24 Share Posted November 10, 2022 No, I have pretty much had a balcony as often as I have had an inside cabin. I can't say I overly looked at which side, but more so to what is above and below or just nearby.
