Club Orange Questions

I think the most useful benefit is the cabin upgrade. You book the lowest cabin in a category, inside oceanview, veranda etc. and you can upgrade to any other cabin in that same category. We used it to go from an obstructed veranda to an aft veranda. The savings were great!

Its an extra per diem cost depending on ship and days which allows expedited embarkation/disembarkment (simolar to Neptune/4*/5* guest), a separate line at customer service and excursion desks onboard and some minor gifts.  I've heard that you get a cabin upgrade within a category and some have liked the upgrade and some have stuck with original selection. What we Iiked about Club Orange is the ability on the Pinnacle class ships to eat in the CO restaurant which is quieter and more efficient than the large MDR of those bigger ships. On non P ships you eat in the MDR, usually in a better table (by a window) and you can order the 1 different entree on the menu for CO members. That wouldn't be as appealing to me on other ships but we like it on the P ships.

We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam this month and we did the club orange upgrade.  We ended up being upgraded to an aft-facing balcony which was fantastic.  We have used club orange dining on the Rotterdam (neptune perk) and enjoyed it,  The dining room was a bit hectic on this sailing not sure if they sold too many club orange but we did have to have a buzzer a few times to wait,  but no big deal we weren't in a rush.  We enjoyed the smaller dining room and they do offer one extra entree that is not on the main dining room menu.  We did board early but there was a little confusion with that at the port as well but it was straightened out.  Holland is very good about service so you can be sure no matter what you do it will be a great vacation.

The upgrade and priority boarding and tendering are great perks. The club orange dinning is ship dependent. We enjoyed in on the pinnacle class ships as it was a standalone dining room. On the other class ships it was a separate part of the MDR so the only advantage was on extra option on the menu.

Agree with above post on Holland's service, they have always treated us great.

The CO dining room is small and you may have to wait to be seated if you do not arrive at opening (same hours as MDR).  The service is excellent.  You cannot reserve a table.  You will not be asked to share a table.  CO serves Neptune and Pinnacle guests plus those who purchased Club Orange.  On our recent Koningsdam cruise there were 169 guests total (94 suite passengers and 75 Club Orange) assigned to Club Orange for dining.

Thanks for the info.  How does seating the Club Orange section work on P ships?  Are there reserved times like in the MDR?  Or, is it open without reservations like Blu on Celebrity or Club Class on Princess?

Its open the same time as MDR hours for breakfast and dinner only.  We usually walked in each night at different times without reservations. On Rotterdam it was never full when we ate breakfast or dinner (dinner 6-6:30 ish) but breakfast on disembarkment day was crowded. Very relaxed on P ships.

So on the konsingdam there is no special dining for suite passengers?
pits been awhile since I’ve been on HAL.

For Neptune/Pinnacle suite, Club Orange is included complementary and on KDam (P class) it's where you eat breakfast, not in Pinnacle Grill like on other R or S class ships.

It was excellent last week.  This week it's a zoo not surprisingly.  I'm sure everyone and their dog has club orange.

Well that is very disappointing.

We're on a Jan 4 sailing on Rotterdam and even though everything is paid for, I did a dummy booking to see what might be available for an upgrade.  The ship looked quite full.  All Ocean View and Veranda cabins were not available.  So I ended up calling our PCC to book Club Orange, not for the upgrade any longer, but for the other perks including the dedicated C.O. dining room and early embarkation.  Since our cruise is 21 days, we paid the $15 per person per day to add Club Orange.

Club Orange is your special dining.  The Pinnacle Dining Room is not open for suite breakfast like it is on the older ships.

How close to cruise are you notified of cabin upgrade?

With Club Orange you (or your TA) call them and pick out the cabin you want right then. There is  no waiting and you get to pick the cabin.

At what point in the booking does one add the Club Orange option?

We added ours at our initial booking because we knew when we booked what cabin we wanted for the upgrade. But others have added after booking too.
